Exmoor National Park in Somerset and North Devon is a great place for English countryside and coastal views. This is the last lag of our UK road trip travel series before going to Turkey. We take the Bossington walk near Minehead to see breathtaking views of the South West England and check out a part of the South West Coastal Path, Englands longest path. We go to search for some UK nature and found a slow worm.

Escape to the Country - Exmoor National Park ...
Exmoor National Park is situated in the south west of the United Kingdom. It spreads across the north coast of Devon and West Somerset and was one of Britain's first National Parks.
Most of the 267 square miles (693 km²) of Exmoor is open heath and moorland. The highest point on Exmoor is Dunkery Beacon, at 1704 ft (519 m), also the highest point in Somerset.
Exmoor has 34 miles (55 km) of dramatic coastline including the highest sea cliffs in England. The South West Coast Path passes along these cliffs and was voted Britain's favourite trail in 2006.
Some moors are covered by a variety of grasses and sedges, while others are dominated by heather. Land is mainly used for livestock, although there are some areas which are cultivated such as the Brendon Hills.
Sheep have grazed on the moors for more than 3000 years and traditional breeds include Exmoor Horn, Cheviot and Whiteface Dartmoor and Greyface Dartmoor sheep. Devon red cattle are also farmed in the area.
Exmoor ponies can be seen roaming freely on the moors. They are a race rather than a breed of pony, and are the closest breed remaining in Europe to Wild Horses. The ponies are rounded up once a year to be marked and checked over.
Red deer have a stronghold on the moor and can be seen on quiet hillsides in remote areas, particularly in the early morning.
The famous Beast of Exmoor is reputed to haunt the moor, with many sightings since the 1960s. It is possibly a Cougar or Black Leopard which was released sometime in the 1960s or 1970s after a law passed making it illegal for them to be kept in captivity outside zoos. It has been blamed for many sheep kills over the years.
The moorland habitat is also home to hundreds of species of birds and insects. Birds seen on the moor include Merlin, Buzzard, Peregrine Falcon, Eurasian Curlew, European Stonechat, Dipper, Dartford Warbler and Ring Ouzel.

Exmoor National Park Beautiful British Countryside In North Devon
Welcome To Exmoor & Countryside Of North Devon
========================================
This video shows some unique landscape of Exmoor and awesome countryside scenaries where we stayed.We visited many breathtaking places but didn't capture all of them.I just kept enjoying them quietly.
Our cottage surrounding was very rich in wildlife and nature & the area offers so much to discover and explore.
This Cottage was nestling in the midst of the most beautiful Devon Countryside, on the fringes of Exmoor National Park & overlooking amazing hills & valleys.Beautiful bird singing was heard frequently everywhere.
The little town of Bampton was just 3 miles away while to Tiverton it was a ten minute drive. The area also offered a wide selection of attractions including the twelfth century Tiverton Castle and Bickleigh Mill, located on the River Exe.
Welcome to Exmoor National Park
Exmoor's Wildlife
=============
Situated in the south west of Britain, Exmoor National Park contains an amazing variety of landscapes within its 267 square miles. It has a unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years.
Exmoor National Park contains an extraordinary variety of wildlife and habitats. Grass and heather moorlands and peat-rich mires cover the hill tops and higher land with steeply incised wooded valleys carving through the moors.The moorland areas are internationally rare and particularly valuable for their expanses of heather, their blanket bogs, and for the wildlife they support including Dartford warblers, whinchats, stonechats, and heath fritillary butterflies.
The iconic Wild Red Deer are also found throughout Exmoor and there are plenty of opportunities to see them in the wild. Exmoor is also home to all species of native British bats. Exmoor's enclosed farmland has been managed traditionally for generations with cattle and sheep.Some of the rarest species on Exmoor such as waxcap fungi are found on the unimproved grassy slopes.
Lynmouth Village is one of the most poplular destinations in the National Park, Its spectacular setting at the mouths of the wooded gorges of the East and West Lyn rivers, hemmed in by gigantic cliffs have made it a place to visit since the era of the romantic poets in the early 19th century.
Exmoor's Landscape
================
Exmoor National Park includes some of Devon and Somerset's finest landscapes, celebrated for the natural beauty and tranquility the area offers.The contrasting elements of woodland, open moorland, mires, rivers and farmland combine to create the unique and distinguished landscape scenery, enhanced by the ever changing weather and seasonal conditions.
The local topography enriches the landscape character of Exmoor, where gently rolling open hills often crowned with heather descend into deep secluded wooded valleys or combes as they are known locally.The ancient landform has been carved by many rivers and streams, Exmoor's northern edge is defined by spectacular high coastal cliffs which create a dramatic frontier between land and sea.
The long history of human influence, underlying geology and climate have all played an important role in forming the complex patchwork of interrelated habitats and landforms visible today.The rich landscape pattern of fields, roads, settlements, buildings, earthworks and other historic landscape features tells a story of man's continuous influence on the land, from the early Neolithic over 6000 years ago to the present day. Exmoor is relatively undeveloped with many charming settlements displaying a rich variety of architecture, use of regional materials and local character.
The Exmoor landscape provides many benefits, which includes space for recreation, water and carbon storage, rich historic and cultural associations as well as providing important habitat for a multitude of plants and wildlife, including the iconic red deer.
Exmoor - an area of hilly open moorland in SW England
Exmoor is loosely defined as an area of hilly open moorland in west Somerset and north Devon in South West England. It is named after the River Exe, the source of which is situated in the centre of the area, two miles north-west of Simonsbath. Exmoor is more precisely defined as the area of the former ancient royal hunting forest, also called Exmoor, which was officially surveyed 1815–1818 as 18,810 acres (7,610 ha) in extent. The moor has given its name to a National Park, which includes the Brendon Hills, the East Lyn Valley, the Vale of Porlock and 55 km (34 mi) of the Bristol Channel coast. The total area of the Exmoor National Park is 692.8 km2 (267.5 sq mi), of which 71% is in Somerset and 29% in Devon.
The upland area is underlain by sedimentary rocks dating from the Devonian and early Carboniferous periods with Triassic and Jurassic age rocks on lower slopes. Where these reach the coast, cliffs are formed which are cut with ravines and waterfalls. It was recognised as a heritage coast in 1991. The highest point on Exmoor is Dunkery Beacon; at 519 metres (1,703 ft) it is also the highest point in Somerset. The terrain supports lowland heath communities, Ancient woodland and blanket mire which provide a habitat for some scarce flora and fauna. There have also been reports of The Beast of Exmoor, a cryptozoological cat roaming Exmoor. Several areas have been designated as Nature Conservation Review and Geological Conservation Review sites.
There is evidence of human occupation from the Mesolithic. This developed for agriculture and extraction of mineral ores into the bronze and Iron Ages. The remains of standing stones, cairns and bridges can still be identified. The royal forest was granted a charter in the 13th century, however foresters who managed the area were identified in the Domesday Book. In the Middle Ages sheep farming was common with a system of agistment licensing the grazing of livestock as the Inclosure Acts divided up the land. The area is now used for a range of recreational purposes.
United States:
The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S.) or America (/əˈmɛrɪkə/), is a federal republic[16][17] composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.[fn 6] Forty-eight states and the federal district are contiguous and located in North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in the northwest corner of North America, bordered by Canada to the east and across the Bering Strait from Russia to the west. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The U.S. territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, stretching across nine official time zones. The extremely diverse geography, climate and wildlife of the United States make it one of the world's 17 megadiverse countries.[19]
At 3.8 million square miles (9.8 million km2)[20] and with over 324 million people, the United States is the world's third- or fourth-largest country by total area,[fn 7] and the third-most populous. The capital is Washington, D.C., and the largest city is New York City; twelve other major metropolitan areas—each with at least 4.5 million inhabitants—are Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Riverside.

If i do not get these there maybe a big hold on future videos until i do unless i can get the funs together as i this is a hobby not a job. From Lynmouth i headed up the A39 towards Combe park wood where i joined the Two moors way and Tarka trail which i have done the whole trail in the past. From Cheriton it was up on Exmoor moors. Where i found Cheriton Ridge ring cairn. I carried walking up to Exe head. Which i got be confused about the river. It is in fact the river the goes through Exeter not Lynmouth. Which is even more amazing as Exeter is on the South coast. I ended up camping up on Great Ashcombe

Britain's National Parks - Visit Britain - Unravel Travel TV
Britain has many places of World beating natural beauty. It was in 1951 that Britain began to recognise the importance of our best-loved landscapes by making them National Parks. The very first of these was the 1400 square kilometre park of the Peak district, which remains one of the most popular national parks in the world. From the majestic mountains of Snowdonia to the romance and tranquillity of the Lake District, these parks are at the heart of this green and pleasant land. There are 15 National Parks in total. The most recent additions being the 2 Scottish Parks of the Cairngorms and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Britain's National Parks are areas of protected countryside that everyone can visit. They cover a variety of different landscapes, ranging from the rugged beauty of Dartmoor to the woodlands of the New Forest. The Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales is a record of thousands of years of human interaction with the natural environment which have shaped the landscape we see today. With so many locations to choose from it's easy to experience the grandeur of our national parks, Britain's breathing spaces.
