Sea to Sky Highway | Vancouver | Episode 5 Part 1
A day we had been looking forward to for months leading up to the trip had finally arrived. This was one of the first things on the must do list after choosing Vancouver as our destination for our first remote work experience. Getting to see the beautiful Whistler and explore the Olympic Village in person really appealed to us.
Before we arrived in Whistler we had 3 spots in mind to visit along the way. The main way to get up to Whistler from Vancouver is to take Highway 99, or better known as The Sea to Sky Highway. Right off the bat that name gave of visions of a beautiful and scenic drive up into the mountains. Reality far exceeded our imagined expectations.
After picking up our rental car, and making a quick pitstop in West Vancouver, we were on our way up the Sea to Sky Highway with planned stops at the Britannia Mine Museum, Shannon Falls and Brandywine Falls.
Part 1 of this Episode follows us as we make these stops, getting to learn a little history of the area and seeing some breathtaking views.

My friends and I take a day trip to Canada!
We head out at 11am and get to Squamish, BC at around 3:30pm. It was all our first time at Sea to Sky Gondola. Last year we went to see the Capilano Suspension Bridge, but the views at Sea to Sky are undeniably more compelling. It's farther, but well worth it if you've never been.
Then we go to the Richmond Night Market once again to stuff our faces with food! When you get there, you will see a huge line. I believe standing in that long line means free entry into the night market. I don't know, I've never had to stand in that line because if you travel in a large group (at least 6 people?) you can buy a fast-pass-type-of-deal into the night market. These 2 random girls literally found us and we were like heck yes let's do this. On this particularly day the night market runs from 7pm - midnight. I enjoy going when it's still bright out so I can see the food stalls better and take better pics. lol It gets a lot more crowded as the night goes on too.

hey everybody! follow me around my experience at sea to sky! i inserted clips of performances from aftershock, lady lava, 4cast, ice queens, and ice out. we made some changes for day two but we messed up our pyramid and didn't score as well as we had hoped. however it's motivation for us and we are practicing hard getting ready to go to mexico :) i didn't vlog as much as i have in the past as this was the biggest competition of the season so far and i wanted to really enjoy myself and focus on the experience. if there's anything in particular you want to see in my upcoming mexico vlog please let me know! anyway i hope you enjoy this video and leave a comment below and say hello :) subscribe!

Harbour Air Seaplanes between Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia, allows money-saving Canadian commuters to enjoy breathtaking views. WSJs Adam Thompson reports:

Welcome to BC Highway 99! It may not be the longest highway in the province, but it's definitely one of the most important and most unique! From a freeway to major downtown arterial to two lane highway in the middle of nowhere, Highway 99 as it all!
Starting at the Peace Arch on the Canada/United States border, where it meets Interstate 5, Highway 99 acts as the southern gateway into Metro Vancouver, connecting to its southern suburbs of Richmond, Delta, and Surrey, as well as the United States and the rest of the Americas.
After crossing the Fraser River twice - above and below, the only single road to accomplish such a feat - the 41 km freeway turns into city streets (such as Granville Street and Georgia Street) to tranverse the largest city in Western Canada (and Canada's third largest), Vancouver.
Crossing the iconic Lions Gate Bridge brings Highway 99 to Vancouver's North Shore, where it piggybacks on the Trans-Canada Highway to Horseshoe Bay, where it veers off to become the world-famous Sea to Sky Highway.
Following the southernmost fjord on the west coast of North America, Highway 99 hugs the cliffs overlooking Howe Sound on its way to Squamish, then ascends from the sea to the sky on its way to Whistler, Canada's premier ski resort and, paired with Vancouver, the host of the 2010 Olympic games.
Beyond Whistler - and even moreso, Pemberton - Highway 99 is much less travelled but no less beautiful. From 1992 onwards, the stretch beyond Pemberton, known locally as the Duffey Lake Road, extended Highway 99 across the rugged and untouched terrain of the Coast Mountains to Lillooet on the Fraser Canyon - an arid desert landscape.
From there, Highway 99 follows the Fraser Canyon and the former alignment of the Cariboo Road to Pavillion, then veers east to finally meet up with the longest highway in the province, Highway 97, where you can turn left for the Yukon and Alaska or turn right for the Okanagan and California.

YVR to Whistler: The Sea to Sky Highway Journey
Whistler and Vancouver are two of the world's most spectacular destinations. But it turns out the journey between them is just as fantastic. Find out what happens with Olympian's Julia Murray & Davey Barr make the 1 hour 51 minute journey from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Whistler Village armed with a GoPro Hero 3 and a rental car from Avis.
CANADA'S BLUEST LAKE? — Garibaldi Lake Hike Near Vancouver BC
We hiked 18KM up Garibaldi Lake and it was so worth it!! What waited for us at the top was probably the nicest green-blue lake I have ever seen.
Garibaldi Lake is 9KM from parking lot to the summit (or 10KM from where you might have to park your car, as the video will show haha) so it's for slightly more experienced hikers. It could take 3 hours to get up.
But you will be rewarded with a beautiful sight. Garibaldi Lake is perhaps the nicest lake I've ever seen, and it has a background of snow-covered mountains that really sets the scene.
I'mportant note if you're hiking Garibaldi Lake: Best times to do it are July to September. Even in June, the lake might be frozen over up top. That doesn't mean you can't do it, but it will be a different scene when you get up there so plan ahead and pack warm layers if needed.

Epic Road Trip - Days 12, 13 & 14 Snoqualmie Falls, WA to Vancouver and Whistler BC--Breathtaking!!
So these are days 12, 13 & 14 of of our epic road trip. We went to Snoqualmie Falls, WA and then on to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada where we went to the Richmond Night Market. An amazing selection of Asian inspired dishes and lots to see and do. On Day 13, we did the short drive up to Whistler BC where we did the Peak to Peak gondola and explored the Whistler Village, on our way back to Vancouver we stopped at the Capilano Suspension bridge and took advantage of a special they had for after 5pm visitors. Finally on Day 14, we explored downtown Vancouver and took an Aquabus over to Granville Island. An amazing three days in Canada!
About my journey:
I was on the road for over 30 days. It was such an amazing experience I wanted to share it with the world. Originally I went to school for broadcast journalism. Unfortunately it didn't work out and I moved away from it but it has always been what I love to do and all these years later I still feel comfortable and at home talking to a camera and sharing my experiences.
Not every day is perfect. Vacations come with a lot of stress and some disappointment but it will always depend on you to choose to look at the good/positive instead of focusing on the negative. Bad traffic, weather and time lost are all part of this epic journey. I hope I can inspire you to go out and explore the country and world you live in. I hope you all continue to take this journey with me.
