Diving with Extra Divers Gozo
This is my first attempt to stitch together a few of the many videos we made -with our brand new GoPro- on our dive trip to Gozo, Malta. Excuse the amateurism in both the filming and the editing. Practice makes the master.

Malta Gozo y Comino (Top Dive Sites)
Malta, in he middle of Mediterranean, is a melting pot of civilizations with a history stretching back thousands of years.
The quality of scuba diving here is one of the main reasons that many people choose the Maltese Islands for their holiday.
The Islands have abundance of dive sites throughout their crystal clear waters. Rocky reefs, caves, plentiful marine life and wrecks from World War I & II all combine to produce unforgettable underwater experiences.

The strong topographic structures that you see on the surface also continue underwater and you will be amazed to see these whilst scuba diving in Malta, Gozo and Comino. The scuba diving landscape in Malta is both spectacular and bizarre.
Malta, with it's many caves, some large enough to drive a bus through, grotto's, crevices and undulating reefs with their magnificent drop- offs make perfect homes for many different species of fish and marine life. All this is for you to explore whilst scuba diving in Malta.
It would be difficult to list all the various species of fish, fauna and flora to be found whilst scuba diving in Malta, Gozo and Comino. Species you can expect to see whilst diving in Malta are Barracuda, groupers, amberjacks, John Dory, various bream, wrasse, damsel fish, octopus, squid, flying gurnards, stingrays, red mullet, painted combers, cardinal fish, conger and moray eels.
For that extra special scuba diving treat in Malta, Sea horses can be seen all year round but they are so well camouflaged you have to be very careful and patient to find them. We have even seen Turtles and Marlin and dolphins on occasions whilst scuba diving in Malta!
With our own resident diving videographer, we can even give you your whole Malta scuba diving experience on DVD to take back home with you. For more details and information please

100 Steps. The Cathedral Cave.
A Quick Dive in the Cathedral Cave Gozo. Cracking little dive always something new to see. Yes their are 100 Steps + to get down to the dive site. Yes these with full kit on the way back up are a killer. But having said this the dive and the cave is stunning, and so worth the extra effort to do.

My Choice - Marsalforn, Gozo: Danube Waves Waltz
Touring Marsalforn while enjoying Danube Waves Waltz by Iosef Ivanovici. Photos by Choy Hong (Jasmine) Grech.
Danube Waves composed by Iosef (Josef) Ivanovici, the Romanian Johann Strauss. Other than the Danube Waves known also as The anniversary song, none of his other music is known and has never been recorded.
Iosef Ivanovici, the composer was born in 1845 in Timisoara, Romania. He first learned to play the flute given to him as a child by a sympathetic old man, and on growing up he enrolled in the 6th Army Regiment based in Galati where he also learned to play the clarinet under Alois Riedl. His gift and passion for music soon led him to become one of the best musicians in his regiment.
Marsalforn is a village on the north coast of Gozo, the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago. The village forms part of the locality of Żebbuġ. Marsalforn is the most popular tourist resort on Gozo. It is well served with hotels, restaurants, bars and beaches. The village has also become the premiere diving centre on Gozo, with several scuba diving schools locating on the sea front.
This volcano like hill has acquired the attention of the people since 1901, when a large wooden cross was erected on its peak. Three years later, when Gozo was consecrated to Christ the Saviour, a stone statue of Christ replaced the cross. This was in turn replaced by a gigantic concrete statue towering twelve meteres above the hill, which remains to this day.
Marsalforn has a history which dates back to Roman times. Until the sixteenth century, the port was the most important in Gozo. Imported food supplies from Sicily were unloaded at Marsalforn, and it was from there that passengers boarded to travel to Licata in Sicily and other continental ports. The importance of Marsalforn had grown so much that by the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century the Knights of the Order of Saint John, the rulers of Malta at the time, considered abandoning the old Citadel in the centre of the island and building a new town overlooking the port. Hostility from the Gozitan people meant that the plans were never realised. They protested that they were too poor to pay the extra tax needed to finance the move and the disruption caused by the transfer of their homes from Rabat to Marsalforn would be too great. With the development of Mgarr harbour, Marsalforn lost its importance and for several centuries it remained a quiet fishing village inhabited by a small community of fishermen and their families.
The growth in the twentieth century of tourism on the Maltese island has led to a redirection of the village's economic function away from fishing. Today, although fishing remains an important industry, increasingly tourism is becoming the dominant source of employment for the local people. In the last thirty years the village has seen considerable urban expansion and has gradually extended along the crescent -shaped rocky bay towards Qbajjar. This expansion has been spurred by the growth in tourism in Gozo which has meant that several hotels, guesthouses and apartments have been built in the village. Moreover, the desire by wealthyMaltese and Gozitans for second homes in the village, combined with the increasingly large presence of foreign investors in the local housing market, has fuelled high demand for property in the village. It has also meant that the old palazzini that Marsalforn was noted for, have been sacrificied and in their stead apartment blocks have been built.
One effect of tourism has been the establishment of clear tangible seasonal changes in the village's character. During the winter months, when tourist numbers are low and second homes are frequently not used, the village gains a quiet, peaceful feel. During the summer the village is a busy, vibrant place, teeming with both local and foreign visitors.
