Fortaleza San Felipe - Puerto Plata - Dominican Republic
Fortaleza San Felipe is a historic Spanish fortress located in the north of Dominican Republic in the province of Puerto Plata. Is also known as El Morro de San Felipe and was used to protect the City of Puerto Plata from pirates and corsairs. It is located on a hill at the Puntilla Del Malecón, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean; its strategic location protected the entrance to the city's seaport. The construction of the fort was commissioned by King Felipe II of Spain in 1564, and it was completed in 1577 by Don Rengifo de Angulo, the fort's mayor.
Today, the Fortaleza San Felipe serves as a museum showcasing the important role it has played in the history of Puerto Plata, and the Dominican Republic. The Fortaleza houses military artifacts from the 18th and 19th centuries.

27 Waterfalls, Charcos Damajagua, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
I had a BLAST going to the 27 Waterfalls, Damajagua River excursion with Iguana Mama. CLICK: for more from my Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic trip!
Going on a Fathom volunteering cruise was transformative, but it was great to be on port 3 1/2 days to be able to enjoy the rest Puerto Plata has to offer.
Out of Amber Cove cruise ship port, the 27 waterfalls excursion was the spice of adventure my vacation needed. Natural water slides, cliffs, and deep canyons have been carved by the icy cold Damajagua River over the centuries. This has created the ultimate adventure waterpark in the middle of the rain forest! Plenty of shade, rest areas, and patience of the Iguana Mama guides made the hike to the river not only pleasant, but truly enjoyable.
Once in the water, it was all action! Sliding, swimming, cliff jumping!
I have traveled to over 30 countries and can say with confidence that the 27 waterfalls Puerto Plata excursion was of one of the best day trips I have ever taken. In my TOP 5 indeed!
VACATION IN DR PUERTO PLATA DOMINICAN REPUBLIC EXCRUSIONS
SHORT VIDEO OF SOME OF THE EXCURSIONS IN PUERTO PLATA, #DOMINICAN REPUBLIC ON JANUARY 2019. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME EVER ON A #HORSE. I THOUGHT I'D ENJOY IT MORE THAN I IMAGINED BUT WAS DISAPPOINTED. THE JUMP WAS 25 FEET AND SCARY AS F SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO SWIM AT THAT POINT. #ZIPLINING WAS RELAXING. I HAD A LOT TO EAT SINCE IT WAS AN UNLIMITED FOOD AND DRINKS SITUATION AT THE RESORT HENCE THE EXTRA WEIGHT ON ME.

Pluses:
Breakfast lunch and dinner was awesome...yes my custom omelettes were extra fluffy.
Their services are excellent. Attention to customer care is very good in all aspects. I will surely go back again and recommend the hotel is my friends. Just came back June 8.
Minuses:
The wifi could have been better for access. Suites should automatically have 100% access...frig could be a little bigger and a microwave for the suites should be included.

Barcelo Puerto Plata
Video from my trip at the Barcelo Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Most of it was filmed on a rainy day...
Review;
First off, I don't know what to write about my stay at Barcelo Puerto Plata. It wasn't my best resort but it wasn't my worst by any means. I rate it as a good 3½ stars resort, nothing was outstanding but everything was as expected or better. The hotel shows his age but is in good maintenance as I saw workers (painters, electricians, etc) putting in hours all week long. The room was big with a bed, a sitting area, a bathroom and a second bed was put in for the double occupancy (taking away most of the sitting area). The food was good at the buffet but deceived me a bit at the à la carte restaurants and the price asked for the lobster (langosta) and shrimps are absurd for an All Inclusive resort. I had the premium package which is a good investment if not too expensive, I paid 50$ extra for the week and it was worth that, the spa was great to end the afternoon and great work by the concierges at the premium club reception. The beach is nice and big with blurry water, there is quite a lot of vendors but I never felt like I was harassed by any of them, a simple no thank you and they move on. The pool is also big with a nice swim up bar. My only complains about the beach and pool is the amount of chairs and palapas available. We got up at 8 some mornings and almost all the chairs were already reserved and the ones under the palapas were reserved from the day before (the resort should do something about that). All in all, I wouldn't mind going back to this resort and I would opt for premium again.
Critique;

TripReport - Thomson Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight review to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic
Airline Trip Report. This is a flight review (Tripreport) of our Thomson Airways (TUI Airways) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight to Puerto Plata (Gregorio Luperón International Airport) in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. We flew in economy class called Dreamliner Class on the Dreamliner. All footage of the journey is filmed from the economy class cabin. Our flight crew was mainly British with a Scandinavian stewardess on board too.
Our Thomson Airways(now called TUI Airways) Dreamliner (Boeing 787-8) had registration number G-TUIA and was named Living the Dream. Our flight started at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark and the aircraft passengers where mainly Scandinavians (Swedish and Danish nationality). Our charter holiday trips where booked via Star Tour (name for TUI in Denmark) (Fritidsresor as TUI are called in Swedish) which is the same as TUI travel in the UK and Germany. I believe TUI is called ARKE in the Netherlands, is that correct?
Our Dreamliner flight review begins at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark. The viewer can follow our arrival at the airport (Terminal 3) before we walk down to Terminal 2 where out Thomson Airways check-in desk is located. We then check-in at the self check-in counters and the drop our luggage at the Thomson Airways Baggage Drop Off area. We then make our way up to the departures area via the tax free shopping area. Once through the tax free shopping area we walk over to the windows where there is a little snow storm outside, the first aircraft we see is the Qatar Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner being towed away. We walk around the airport for awhile before we again pass another passport control (2 x passport control because we are leaving the European Union). We then arrive at our departure gate area (our gate was C29) where we get our first glimpse of our Thomson Airways Dreamliner passenger aircraft which is rather covered in snow. It is here at the gate that we are told that the flight is delayed as there is a problem with the aircraft's water supply system which means that there is no water for the lavatories or tea and coffee. We eventually board the plane just over 1 hour delayed. As we pushback and start taxiing we get some nice views of the Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft also standing at the C area gates, We also get some nice views of the terminal building construction project (I believe that the terminal is being upgraded to be able to handle the giant Airbus A380 aircraft, which currently do not fly to Copenhagen Airport. The aircraft then makes it´s way for de-icing where the viewer gets a cabin view at the deicing process of a Dreamliner Boeing 787 aircraft. After de-icing we taxi over to our runway for take off (Runway 04R), from this point our journey begins. Watch out for economy class cabin views where you can see the 3-3-3 seat arrangements, view the in flight entertainment system (IES) a touchscreen used mainly for movies, TV shows and the route and speed of the aircraft (also the reading light and stewardess calling button are found on the touch screen). We also visit the galley and lavatory. Inflight meals which we have prepaid also feature in the footage. We had one main meal and then one complimentary snack box just before landing.Also watch out for the famous Dreamliner mood lights, the fancy new self dimming windows.
