HUSKY DOG SLED RIDE in Kakslauttanen IVALO FINLAND
This was a 4 hour Husky Dog Sled ride in the Kakslauttanen resort. It was -5c which was very warm for these dogs. The husky dogs got very hot and wanted to slide their bodies in the snow. The snow was very powdery because it was March. I felt like it was too long.. the 2 hour ride would have been better with the kids.
Guesthouse Husky, Ivalo, Finland - Husky Safari in -24°C (4K Tour)
We stayed for two nights at the Guesthouse Husky. A must do for any dog lover! We got to play with huskies, and husky puppies in their natural environment.
The highlight of course was the husky safari, and the northern lights (which didn't make it to the video).
Check out pics of the huskies, the dog sledding, and the northern lights from Ivalo right here -

adventure husky sledenhonden ivalo
We went to Ivalo Finland for a three days husky tour in the outback of finland. We started in Ivalo and toured in the surroundings for three days . We got our own sledge and five dogs. We had to take care for them during these days. We travelled to unattended cabins with no electricity and bathroom. But there were lots of woods to heat the sauna and lakes full of water. And our own guide/slave who guides us and prepared food and learned us how to survive.
It's husky time! | Ivalo | Lapland | Finland | February 2018
Lapland! That was our ultimate bucket list destination for this winter and we made it! Besides surviving a real winter, we had a great experience with huskies!
As soon as we arrived, we knew we were at the right place. We were surrounded by so much snow and when we walked through it we sunk in it until our knees. The temperatures were really cold sometimes and even passed the -30°C! Luckily we had proper clothes to keep us warm.
As soon as we met the huskies we fell in love, they are so adorable and love to cuddle! When we saw the little puppies we went crazy! The cutest things we've ever seen!
It was such a pleasure to work with these animals. They are naughty and sometimes really stubborn, but that makes it so much fun.
Every morning we started the day with feeding the dogs. If there were any planned excursions we prepared the sledges and made the teams ready. 6 dogs in front of every sledge. It is beautiful to see how eager they are to run and as soon as you release them, you can't stop them anymore!
When the dogs were running their excursion with a guide, we prepared dinner for them and fixed their harnesses. We also visited the puppies, to check if everything is going well. Amazing how fast they grow!
Besides working we did a lot of fun stuff. We went cross country skiing for the first time ever! We fell a lot, but stood up to try again. After trying a little bit it went better and better!
We also made some fun rides on the snow mobile. Amazing thing to do in this beautiful landscape!
After 4 weeks we were ready for our next adventure. A skiing trip to Trysil in Norway! Check out our next blog to see how Kelly managed for the first time ever!

Goodyear Arctic Center - Ivalo, Finland
Goodyear Dunlop expands its winter tire testing activities
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Goodyear Dunlop announces the opening of its new winter tire testing facility, the Arctic Center, in Ivalo, Finland.
The facility was officially opened by Jean-Pierre Jeusette, General Director of Goodyear’s Innovation Center, Laurent Colantonio, Director of Global Tire Performance Prediction and representing the company‘s Nordic Region, Ludvig Nauckhoff, General Manager Nordic.
The Arctic Center is located 300 km north of the Arctic Circle, near the town of Ivalo in North Eastern Finland. The track is one of Europe’s leading winter tire testing centers, and starting today, exclusively used by Goodyear Dunlop. Its location in a valley provides a micro climate that is extremely suitable for winter tire testing in snow and ice conditions from November to early April.
The track is leased from Action Park, based in Finland, and Goodyear will hold exclusive access to the track for the foreseeable future.
The Arctic Center’s infrastructure includes several snow and ice test lanes and tracks, offices equipped with modern IT infrastructure and several garages to maintain test vehicles and prepare test tires. The area is fenced-in, providing security and confidentiality for testing on prototype tires and new innovative winter tire technology.
“We are very excited about the launch of the Arctic Center. Having the possibility to work in ideal ice and snow conditions is a true asset. By definition, snow sciences cannot be studied nor put into practice in an office as they require field experience; that is the condition to deploy state-of-the art tire technology”, explains Jean-Pierre Jeusette, Director General of Goodyear’s Innovation Center. “
Outside its facility in Finland, Goodyear Dunlop also tests all its winter tires on tracks in France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and New Zealand. The geographical range of the centers allows for year-long testing that can be run on very different snow structures. The Arctic Center will further expand these testing capabilities and confirms the company’s commitment to excellence in winter tire testing and bringing a quality winter tire to the market that exceeds expectations.
The facility has recently been used to test the new UltraGrip 9 winter tire, launched by Goodyear in September of this year. The tire’s recognized snow capabilities were tested and improved, in part, at the Ivalo Arctic Center.
Laurent Colantonio, Director of Global Tire Performance Prediction is satisfied with the agreement. “The Arctic Center’s infrastructure and winter tire test experience will further enhance Goodyear Dunlop’s capability and capacity in winter tire testing for both consumer and truck tires. We will be able to use a customized snow and ice facility supporting the development of new winter tire products and concepts in the future.”

Aurora Borealis (1.5min) - Ivalo Finland Lapland, Kakslautanen Igloo Village.
The Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking sights from the heavens.
In early Dec of 2013, a journey to witness this celestial wonder took my family to the realm of cold and snow.
Our initial sighting of the aurora was weak and faint, far in the horizon....But gradually, they grew stronger and brighter, with sharp obvious streaks and lines becoming visible even to the eye.
Gazing upwards at Aurora, Our Heart Soared! Ethereal lights awakening our soul, Electrifying this icy land.
In this silent cold night, nature once again overwhelmed us with her greatness, infusing our souls with joy and happiness..
Now you see them, now you don't. Longing, waiting, freezing, numbing.
Recorded 100m from my Log Cabin at Kakslautanen, Igloo Village: Ivalo, Finland.
