Brașov, Romania - In this ultimate Transylvanian Food tour of Brasov, Romania, we started off with a huge lunch, then continued to eat Transylvanian truffles, had a massive wild stew dinner, and ended the adventure with an e-bike ride up the ski slope and Romanian mountain breakfast. #Romania #Transylvania #Brasov
Huge thank you to Cristian Macedonschi ( for hosting us in Brasov!
La Ceaun - Just after arriving to Brasov, we went for lunch in the center square. We tried a huge assortment of Transylvanian Romanian foods. An amazing way to begin this food tour of Brasov.
Cucinino Pasta Bar - After taking a walk through the city and walking the hills around the city, we stopped at Cucinino Pasta Bar, mostly with the intention to try Transylvanian truffles. Amazing.
Hotel Alpin - Poiana, Brasov - From the center of Brasov, we drove about 20 minutes up the mountain and checked in to Hotel Alpin a classic ski resort hotel.
Stana Turistica Sergiana - Dinner was one of the highlights of this entire experience for me, a traditional countryside Romanian restaurant. The different stews, including deer, rooster, and beef cheeks were outstanding. Highly recommended restaurant when you’re in Brasov, Romania.
Cabana Postăvaru - Ski Lodge, Restaurant - In the morning, after riding an e-bike up the side of a ski slope, we had a huge Romanian mountain breakfast.
A fantastic food adventure in Romania, and thank you again to Cristian Macedonschi ( for hosting us and making it happen.
Also, thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.

Ferma Dacilor:
This was the ultimate Romanian medieval BBQ meat feast. Huge thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip. #Romania #RomaniaFood #bbq
Meat Paradise in Romania at Ferma Dacilor ( - During my trip to Romania, we went to a place called Ferma Dacilor, one of the most unique and special meals and food experiences of my trip to Romania. The entire concept is straight farm to table, where nearly everything they serve, from the meat to the vegetables and seasoning, are grown, produced, and aged, on location at the farm.
Medieval BBQ Cooking - Not only is the food fresh and local, but they strive to cook things in the ancient way, they way their ancestors cooked - over fire, rustic, iron, and huge portions of Romanian food.
Along with the 110 KG pig they roasted whole, one of the highlights for me was trying Mangalica pig, a type of hairy pig that almost looks like a sheep. The fat is said to be quite healthy, with little to no cholesterol. The meat was fatty and delicious.
Huge thank you to Cornelo and his entire family for hosting us and for making our time at Ferma Dacilor so memorable. One of the best Romanian food experiences!

Traditional Romanian Food in Brasov, Romania

Afinata (Bilberry Brandy)
Cotlet Dracula (Dracula Pork)
Mamalinguta cu branza si smantana (Polenta with cheese and sour cream)
Greek Salad

To say this was a feast of feasts would be an understatement. It was one of those meals where we could have passed out under the table for a while ;) However, considering how much food we ordered the bill came in at only 73 Lei ($18 USD). An absolute bargain in our opinion.
Traditional Romanian Food in Brasov, Romania Travel Video Transcript:
It is dinnertime and we are at restaurant Transilvania. In Brasov and we are trying traditional Romanian cuisine. Let's go in and order some food. Yum!
So you've got yourself a fancy drink? Yeah, I'm just diving right in and trying things I've never had before. This is called afinata and it is a bilberry brandy. And, woah, it smells strong, so let's try a sip of that. Good stuff? Oh, yeah it is so sweet but yet it has like really high alcohol content. Is it like a syrup? Yeah, it tastes very syrup-y. That's a good way of describing it.
Well, very exciting times. My food has finally arrived. If you have a look down here I'm having polenta with cottage cheese and sour cream. And I also got some goulash on the side which I know is Hungarian but it was on the menu so 'hey' I got it anyway. So let's start with the polenta because that is very Romanian.
Okay, so tell us about your plate? Now on the menu I saw something I could not resist ordering. It was called Dracula pork. And if something is good enough for Dracula. It's good enough for me. So let's take a look at this.
It appears to be pork with some kind of sauce and like a copious amount of cheese. So it's like a melted cheese and maybe ketchup. Maybe it is Dracula's blood on your little pork medallion. Could be. Dracula's blood!
Would Dracula approve? I think he would. Yeah. That's really tasty.
And I ordered a side of polenta to go with my steak as well. So I'm going to try a bite. That's surprisingly tasty. I have to admit the first time I tried polenta, which was not that long ago, I didn't really like it. I thought gosh that is kind of bland. But it is really growing on me and if you haven't tried it before it's made out of cornmeal. And it has a yeah a kind of starchy kind of taste. You just need a good sauce on the polenta for it to taste good I think.
You've tried quite a bit of Romanian food so far. What are your impressions? My impressions are that it is quite tasty. It's typical of other Eastern European cuisines in the sense that it is very hearty. There is a lot of meat, there is a lot of starchy foods like polenta and potatoes and there is something else that is really cool is that there is really good wine here. Wine here is fantastic.
What's your take on Romanian food? Well, I am stuffed beyond belief so I have to agree. Very hearty. Very filling. Um, I also think this is not a country for vegetarians. You see meat during every meal. During lunch and dinner. Especially pork. So, keep that in mind.
So even though we're quite full we couldn't resist ordering a Romanian dessert. So right here we've got sponge cake with chocolate pudding, chocolate sauce. I think it has orange cognac and whipped cream. And who knows what else. So let's just dig in. That's a huge portion. We're sharing this.
So is it like again? I was going to say. I wish they had given me a bigger spoon because it is so good.
How much did that come to? That came to seventy three Lei. And when you convert that into US dollars it was only eighteen dollars. And keep in mind that was for three mains, three drinks and one shared dessert. I haven't had a meal that was that good of quality and that good of value in a very long time.

Unseen TRANSYLVANIA VILLAGE FOOD + Best LAMB Stew in Romania!!

????T-shirts and caps:
Village Food and Life in Transylvania, Romania - We had an amazingly special opportunity to spend a day in a local village in Transylvania, meeting amazing people, and learning about the delicious local food and life in Transylvania. #Transylvania #RomanianFood
Thank you to Caroline from Mihai Eminescu Trust for hosting us and for organising this experience.
Rooster soup and home cooked banquet - The main main was a home cooked rooster soup and banquet feast put on by an amazing community of women from this small, yet huge hearted, village in Transylvania. The food was cooked with so much love, and you could taste it in every bite.
Orchard’s Crunchy Pork - After riding a horse carriage to the top of a hill to get a view of the village and see the apple orchards, we enjoyed a Romanian Transylvanian picnic that included grilled pork fat skin.
Shepherd’s Lamb Stew and Polenta - This special shepherd’s lamb stew and polenta was incredible, the lamb fell off the bone with tenderness, and the polenta was rich and cheesy.
It was such an incredible day of Romanian food and learning about this incredible village in Transylvania.
Also, thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.

24 hours in Brasov, Romania
Often before we visit somewhere we have a general idea of what we're planning on doing when arriving; however, while heading to Brasov for the 1st time we had no clue. Our 24 hours spent in the city allowed us to cover most of the Old Town, do a bit of hiking and tuck into some delicious food before heading out for nightlife. With such time scarcity we tried to pack in as much as we possibly could. The following are some of the places we had a chance to visit in Brasov, Transylvania (Transilvania):

24 hours in Brasov, Romania Travel Video Transcript:
So welcome to Brasov. We have finally arrived at our destination. It was a really pleasant train ride. I actually slept for most of it because the motion just puts me to sleep like a baby. But Sam did film some of the scenery and it was really pretty. The fall colors are starting to change. So yeah, now we're in the town. We're going to check it out. We're actually feeling a little bit hungry so I think lunch will be the first order of business and then we'll start exploring.
So last time I attempted riding a pennyfarthing we were in Germany early this summer and I was not very successful. I think these are more for decoration and it is actually attached to the bike-rack so you can just leave your bike and stack it there.
So ready for lunch? You better believe it. And we thought we were going to a local Romanian restaurant but it turns out it is Hungarian. I suppose it is close enough they share a border together.
And the bread has arrived. Oh, that is a nice loaf. It looks homemade. It looks nice and homemade. Look at how thick that is.
Take a bite for us. Woah. This is going to be nice with my soup. Mmmm, it's nice. Crispy on the outside and really soft on the inside.
It just needs some butter now.
So my soup has arrived and I'm very excited. It is a Hen's soup with vegetables. And it has huge semolina dumplings. Show us how big? Bigger than my spoon. Look at that.
Wow, let's get a close-up shot of that. Yeah, and it is nice and hot. It is steaming so let's try it.
Mmmmm.
It's almost like a bread dumpling. Or like Polenta. It's good.
So we've had our lunch and now we are checking out the town. This is actually one of those trips that we didn't plan too well. We just decided to come to Brasov spur of the moment. So we don't really know what the main attractions are which means this afternoon we're just going to be walking around and figuring it out as we go.
We've been walking around Brasov for a few hours what are your first impressions so far? Well, already I can tell you I like it a lot more than Bucharest. It definitely has more of a medieval feel here and it is more well preserved as well. You can walk around and there is lots of cool architecture and buildings and great restaurants and pubs to drop in to. Yeah, it is very colorful and lots of renovations happening. Exactly.
So where are we now? We are visiting the narrowest street in Brasov. And we've seen pictures of people jumping and touching both sides of the walls. So we're going to try to both attempt that.
So at its narrowest this is 1.3 meters so let's keep walking towards the most narrow part.
And I think this is probably it.
Something I've really been enjoying about this city so far are all of these little side streets and alleys. It's really easy to escape the busy sections of the city.
Alright guys, so this is Brasov on a Thursday night. It's looking a little bit quiet and I'm not seeing a lot of people but I'm sure there has to be a neighborhood where the pubs are open and people are hanging out. So let's go find one.
So that's a wrap from Brasov. We had a really good time here. It reminded us of a place we had visited in Europe and it took us all day to figure it out. That place is Tallinn, Estonia. Anyways, we had a really good time and tomorrow we're off to Bran Castle. To find Dracula!

Street Food in Romania for Breakfast!! $1.15 ROMANIAN MICI KEBABS!!
????Romanian medieval BBQ:
????T-shirts and caps:
SIBIU, ROMANIA - Sibiu is known as a gastronomy capital of Romania, and so I was excited to explore this historical city in Transylvania, and mainly to eat some street food and at a traditional Romanian restaurant. #Romania #mici #Sibiu
Huge thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.
Geo Sib - Easily the most widely available and loved Romanian street food is Mititei / Mici, unique little balls of meat, mixed with spices and grilled over charcoal. This is the place to eat mici in Sibiu, in the morning on the outskirts of the market. Their mici was made from minced veal, lots of salt, and light seasoning. They were so incredibly good, and so incredibly bouncy. Price - 30 RON ($6.92) for 6, so each mici costs $1.15.
Next we continued walking around and exploring the historical center of Sibiu, drinking some coffee, and climbing up the watch tower for a view of the city. Also a highlight for me was stumbling into a small farmers market at the church and meeting an amazing grandmother famous for her pickles. All her different pickles were fantastic.
Jules Bistro - Next they had arranged for us to have a quick meal at Jules Bistro, a modern take on Romanian food. It was pretty good, and the setting was beautiful.
Crama Sibiul Vechi - But I was most interested in a traditional Romanian Transylvanian meal at Crama Sibiul Vechi, one of the best restaurants in Sibiu. The food was fantastic, and I loved the setting in an old basement with friendly staff. Total price - 109 RON ($25.15)
That completes this Romanian food tour of Sibiu - much more food to come!

Visiting Dracula's Castle (Bran Castle) in Transylvania, Romania
With howling winds we ascended the many steps leading up to the infamous Bran Castle. The castle associated with Bram Stoker's Dracula Castle is a national landmark and monument in Transylvania, Romania (Romanian: Castelul Bran; Hungarian: Törcsvár; German: Törzburg). We found the experience fascinating as most areas of the castle were open for tourists to explore including some dimly lit staircases. After checking out the castle we headed back down to briefly check out a market selling all kinds of trinkets and restaurant featuring hearty Romanian cuisine. Overall, if you're based in Brasov this makes for a fantastic 'spooky' day trip ;)

Visiting Dracula's Castle (Bran Castle) in Transylvania, Romania Travel Video Transcript:
So at last the destination we've been waiting for. We have arrived in Bran to visit Bran Castle which may or may not be associated with the Dracula. Hahaha. Let's go!
Oh ho ho, it's going to blow me over.
This is officially one of the windiest places I have ever experienced. The castle sits on a really rocky cliff so you get wind coming in every direction possible. And it is pretty crazy. We're just hiding out in this little nook for now.
Bran Castle sits on the border between Wallachia and Transylvania and it is the setting of Bram Stoker's horror novel Dracula. That being said, there are other castles in Romania linked to the legend of Dracula.
We're now entering the secret staircase.
Now we're checking out the torture chamber rooms and it is pretty gruesome the methods that were used back in the day. It makes feel quite lucky to be alive this present moment.
Overall impressions of Bran Castle? It was phenomenal. What really surprised me is that from a distance it doesn't look that big but when you get inside there is a lot to explore. Like we probably spent well over an hour just checking all of the different rooms, climbing up and down the stairs and just getting an overall impression of the caste.
Alright, so now that we have visited the castle it is time to go for lunch and I am hungry.
So it is very cold day here in Bran and it is also lunchtime so we've popped into a little restaurant and we're trying to warm up with the hottest, heartiest foods we can find. I'm having some soup with some polenta and a cup of tea. Sam's gone with a salad and the beef. Meh, a little healthy a little bland but here we are enjoying our Romanian lunch.
So the food I'm most excited about trying is something called Romanian Mici and if you look down here it's kind of like a pork sausage or a pork roll. And, oh wow, check this out. Oh, that looks good. It almost looks like a spicy sausage.
Mmmmm. That is an amazing sausage. So juicy, so tasty, so flavorful. I love it. Oh, now I'm going to try some next.
So the polenta with cheese has arrived and it looks a little bit different from what I had yesterday. Yesterday my polenta came with cottage cheese and sour cream but this one appears to have cheese melted on top so I think maybe they put it in the oven. It looks like it was kind of baked. Yeah, baked polenta. Look at the gooey cheese. Oh la la. Wow. That's going to be hot. Mmmm.
I think it actually has goat cheese in the middle. Like a salty goat cheese and then mozzarella on top. Pretty good.
After lunch, we did a little wandering around the town and we found that it reminded us of Halloween with all its spooky trinkets and souvenirs.
There is a cool little market nearby the Bran Castle selling all kinds of trinkets including warm hats, Halloween costumes and other kinds of souvenirs.
Hello, pup. Hello. Meet Dracula's dog. Or are you a wolf? You're a wild wolf. Yes, you are. Yes, you are.
It's biting my ass now. It's not a game anymore puppy. No, hey. Hahahahaha.

10 Best Places to Visit in Romania - Travel Video
Located on the Balkan Peninsula, Romania is a country of contrasts. The former Soviet Bloc country has, over the years, belonged to the Romans who gave the country its name, the Hungarians and the Ottomans. It is filled with quaint old towns, mountain resorts that offer great skiing, and a burgeoning art community. It’s most famous citizen, however, may be the vampire Dracula, a fictional character found in Transylvania. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Romania:
King of Seafood - BLACK SEA FISH PARTY + Unseen Danube Delta, Romania!
????Romanian medieval BBQ:
????T-shirts and caps:
Danube Delta, Romania - A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Danube Delta was one of the destinations I was most looking forward to visiting on my trip to Romania. It’s a stunningly beautiful place, teeming with delicious fish from the Danube River and the Black Sea. #Romania #DanubeDelta #Food
Green Village Resort - First of all a huge thank you to Green Village Resort for hosting us and for arranging this entire amazing Danube Delta experience in Romania.
We arrived in the evening, and started with an incredible seafood fish feast at the resort before calling it a night.
In the morning we got on a boat for breakfast, tried fishing without any luck, and ended up in a narrow waterway in the beautiful Danube Delta for breakfast. The smoked fish and smashed onions were the highlight.
Fisherman soup - For lunch, we made a huge pot of local style Danube Delta fish soup.
King of Romanian Seafood at La Mache - Finally to end this incredible Romanian seafood tour of the Danube Delta we drove to a restaurant called La Mache. I had no idea what to expect. Turned out to be a full show of fish and seafood from the Black Sea and the Danube Delta and one of the most spectacular meals of my entire trip to Romania.
Also, thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.
