Birds on Michaelmas Cay Islands, Cairns, Australia
Back in 2014 - I went to visit Australia and really wanted the experience of Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. What I got, other than the obligatory fishes, is the sight of these awesome birds on the sand cays. Their eyes are mesmerizing. It's also interesting to see that on such a small island, you can see different cliques of birds, depending on whether than like human or not.

Wildlife of Australia's Rainforest Expedition
The wet tropics of northern Queensland are the last remaining part of the huge forest that once dominated half of Australia. This lush landscape is home to species like cassowaries, parrots, pythons, possums, tree kangaroos, and primitive-looking reptiles, many of which live nowhere else in the world.
On this expedition, you’ll explore lowland rainforests, spectacular mountains covered in cooler upland rainforests, beaches, and coral habitats just off the shore. You’ll investigate changes in the climate and landscape and what they mean for species in the area while trying your hand at a variety of research techniques, including bird surveys, lizard surveys, frog surveys, and nocturnal wildlife spotting.
