Brighton is an English seaside resort town. About an hour south of London by train, it's a popular day-trip destination. Its broad shingle beach is backed by amusement arcades and Regency-era buildings. Brighton Pier, in the central waterfront section, opened in 1899 and now has rides and food kiosks. The town is also known for its nightlife, arts scene, shopping and festivals.
Brighton is a seaside resort on the south coast of England. Brighton is part of the ceremonial county of East Sussex, within the historic county of Sussex. Brighton's location has made it a popular destination for tourists, renowned for its diverse communities, quirky shopping areas, large cultural, music and arts scene.
Brighton lies between the South Downs and the English Channel to the north and south, respectively. The Sussex coast forms a wide, shallow bay between the headlands of Selsey Bill and Beachy Head; Brighton developed near the centre of this bay around a seasonal river, the Wellesbourne (or Whalesbone), which flowed from the South Downs above Patcham.
The Royal Pavilion is a former royal palace built as a home for the Prince Regent during the early 19th century. Other Indo-Saracenic buildings in Brighton include the Sassoon Mausoleum . Brighton Marine Palace and Pier (long known as the Palace Pier) opened in 1899. The West Pier was built in 1866 and is one of only two Grade I listed piers in the United Kingdom. The Brighton i360 observation tower opened on 4 August 2016. Brighton clocktower, built in 1888 for Queen Victoria's jubilee. Volk's Electric Railway runs along the inland edge of the beach from Brighton Pier to Black Rock and Brighton Marina. The Grand Hotel was built in 1864. The Brighton hotel bombing occurred there.

Jaguar Land Rover Factory At Castle Bromwich UK
Today Jaguar Land Rover today revealed plans to manufacture a range of new electrified vehicles at its manufacturing plant in Castle Bromwich, UK. The announcement is the next significant step in delivering on the company’s commitment to offer customers electrified options for all new Jaguar and Land Rover models from 2020.
Prof. Dr. Ralf Speth, Chief Executive Officer of Jaguar Land Rover, said:
The future of mobility is electric and, as a visionary British company, we are committed to making our next generation of zero-emission vehicles in the UK. We are co-locating our electric vehicle manufacture, Electronic Drive Units and battery assembly to create a powerhouse of electrification in the Midlands.
The first new electric car to be produced at the plant will be Jaguar’s flagship luxury saloon, the XJ. The choice of business leaders, celebrities, politicians and royalty for over five decades and through eight generations of production, the XJ is designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK and has been exported to more than 120 countries.
The news was confirmed to workers at Castle Bromwich as production of the current XJ came to an end. Credited with pioneering a range of industry-first innovations during its 50 years of production, the new XJ will build on the characteristics synonymous with its predecessors - beautiful design, intelligent performance and revered luxury.
The new all-electric model will be created by the same expert team of designers and product development specialists responsible for delivering the world’s first premium electric SUV, and 2019 World Car of the Year, the Jaguar I-PACE.
Today’s announcement, which safeguards several thousand jobs in the UK, is the next stage in execution of Jaguar Land Rover’s electrification strategy. In January the company confirmed plans to bring battery and Electric Drive Unit (EDU) assembly to the Midlands with investment in new and existing facilities. These investments have been anticipated in the company’s previously communicated capital investment plans.
The new Battery Assembly Centre at Hams Hall, operational in 2020, will be the most innovative and technologically advanced in the UK with an installed capacity of 150,000 units. Together with the Wolverhampton Engine Manufacturing Centre (EMC), home of Jaguar Land Rover’s global EDU production, these facilities will power the next generation of Jaguar and Land Rover models.
The extensive transformation of Castle Bromwich to become the UK’s first premium electrified vehicle plant will be the most significant in the plant’s history. Later this month, work will begin to commence the installation of all-new facilities and technologies required.

Homes by Harley Weir (Fabrica 2018)
Homes, by British photographer Harley Weir, depicts photographs made over a ten-day period in October 2016 in the migrant and refugee camps of Calais, known informally as the Jungle. Taken immediately before and during the clearing of this provisional settlement, Weir’s images highlight both the humanity and ingenuity of those living there - emphasising the domestic and familiar against a backdrop of displacement.
Homes is one of many recent photographic projects which highlight how the large transient population of refugees and migrants materialise in visual terms across the European landscape. Images of Calais, in particular, have been central to the debate about immigration, both in the UK and in mainland Europe.
Interview with artist Harley Weir on her Homes exhibition at Fabrica as part of Brighton Photo Biennial 2018, Shoair Mavlian (Director, Photoworks and festival curator) and Liz Whitehead (Director, Fabrica).
