Where are Snap On hand tools made? This kind of threw me for a loop since everyone always says that Snap On hand tools are made in the United States of America. Please don't get me wrong, I like Snap On still.
Snap-on is an American designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-end tools and equipment to professional tool users. Founded in 1920, Snap-on is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and employs approximately 11,500 people worldwide. The company is currently worth US $9.5 billion and is included in the S&P 500.
Snap-on was founded as the Snap-on Wrench Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1920 by Joseph Johnson and William Seidemann.[3] As a new socket wrench manufacturing company, the business manufactured and marketed ten sockets that would snap on to five interchangeable handles. After World War II, Palmer advertised for a military officer to organize and develop a larger sales force for the expected post-war sales boom. Newton Tarble was hired, and came up with the idea of developing routes for company dealers to see mechanics on a weekly basis. Thus, Snap-on tools are sold only by dealers and none are sold in retail stores. Their quality is highly regarded but their prices are also among the very highest. Snap-on currently operates plants in various states and cities such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Elizabethton, Tennessee, which manufacture hand tools. Pneumatic tools are currently manufactured in Murphy, North Carolina.
In 1975, Snap-on opened a manufacturing plant in Johnson City, Tennessee and closed the plant 32 years later in 2007. The Murphy, North Carolina plant was named as one of the top 10 plants in North America by Industry Week. [4] In 1999, Snap-on acquired Bahco, a Swedish hand tool brand. Bahco hand tools are designed and manufactured by SNA Europe, the European manufacturing subsidiary of Snap-on Incorporated.

The Palm Island, Dubai UAE - Megastructure Development
An awe-inspiring engineering feat, Dubai Palm Islands is definitely the largest artificial islands on earth. These Islands are three man made islands in the form of massive palm trees connected to the beaches of Dubai. The first island is the Palm Jumeirah, Jebel Ali Palm second and the third is the Palm Deira which is the biggest of them all. This artificial archipelago located off the coastline of United Arab Emirates in Persian Gulf.
Dubai islands project was commissioned by Sheikh Mohammed in an effort to maximize beachfront property. Dubai's palm tree-shaped resort island on land built from the sea will contribute 120 km of beaches. Aside from the construction of the ambitious expansion, there is also the problem of constructing a mini city, which consists of 4,500 high-end residential homes, miles of roads, luxurious hotels and many amenities that will require basic human resources including electricity, safe drinking water and many more. This enormous project will position Dubai as one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
I will tell you why these islands have appeared and that they must satisfy. Dubai is an emirate that open sea about 50 km (an estimate) and the sites required for building projects are on the beach. To view course and especially to park in front of the yacht's property or even assembly.
Well when the beach was not available, and demand persists, the beach had invented. And it appeared artificial islands. Hence so sophisticated forms of the islands: they had to provide a larger opening to the ocean.
This new concept quickly caught on. 'Only a' product 'high-end, the latest wrinkle in the most creative developers metropolis. A new source of land, location of the trick of the planet Earth! The job went, the two islands were settled immediately, with mixed development, spectacular, exorbitant, and finally in Dubai's specific style ... In parallel to the World archipelago started building and other projects are still on the drawing board Nakheel, developer. But crisis compels us to winter a little ...
Where is the dream of similar islands: In Lebanon, wants to build a cedar shaped islands, the symbol of this country. Russia wants to try an island / an archipelago in Black in Sochi at the 2014 Olympics, at least that is speaking through the past years. Also in Japan there are several large airports built on artificial islands.
The Palm Islands are artificial peninsulas constructed of sand dredged from the bottom of the Persian Gulf by the Belgian company Jan De Nul and the Dutch company Van Oord.
The sand is sprayed by the dredging ships, which are guided by DGPS, onto the required area in a process known as rain-bowing because of the arcs in the air when the sand is sprayed. The outer edge of each Palm's encircling crescent is a large rock breakwater. The breakwater of the Palm Jumeirah has over seven million tons of rock.
The Palm Islands are an artificial archipelago (islands) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Major commercial and residential infrastructures will be constructed by Nakheel Properties, a property developer in The UAE. The Belgian and Dutch dredging and marine contractors, Jan De Nul and Van Oord, some of the world's specialists in land reclamation, were hired to complete construction. The islands are the Palm Jumeirah, the Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Deira.
Each settlement will be in the shape of a palm tree, topped with a crescent. The settlements will have a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment centers. The Palm Islands are located off the coast of The UAE in the Persian Gulf and will add 520 kilometers of beaches to the city of Dubai.
The first two islands will comprise of approximately 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand. The Palm Deira will be composed of approximately one billion cubic meters of rock and sand. All materials will be quarried in The UAE. Among the three islands, there will be over 100 luxury hotels, exclusive residential beach side villas and apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities and health spas.
The creation of the Palm Jumeirah began in June 2001. Shortly after, the Palm Jebel Ali was announced and reclamation work began. The Palm Deira is planned to have a surface area of 46.35 square kilometers and was announced for development in October 2004.

Trump TV: The Fox approach to bad Trump news - The Listening Post (Lead)
This week, three of US President Donald Trump's former advisers were charged with federal crimes, including tax evasion, conspiracy against the US, and lying to the FBI about contacts with alleged Russia middlemen.
The White House has denied this and Trump described the investigation as a witch-hunt.
While US news outlets covered the indictments in Washington and the possible impact on Donald Trump's presidency, Fox's coverage differed. As its competitors focused on the news, Fox downplayed it, directing its attention to Hillary Clinton, questioning the integrity of the chief investigator Robert Mueller, even making time for stories about emojis and Halloween candies.
Fox looked at the Russian angle in the story and basically concluded: There's nothing to see here. Fox was quite flagrantly echoing the same line coming out of the White House - a blend of diversion, distraction and denial - blurring the line between truth and falsehood, the apparent end game being to help the president take back control of the narrative.
Not only did they spend a good amount of time downplaying the allegations that Mueller had made, but they also found time to discuss any number of other stories, explains Mark Gertz, senior fellow, Media Matters for America. From hamburger emojis to Halloween candy. This is what Fox News does. This was a more embarrassing case, but it is what the channel typically does and always has.
Other Rupert Murdoch-owned media outlets that haven't always been on the Trump bandwagon seem to be climbing on board.
Eight months ago, the Wall Street Journal published an editorial questioning the president's credibility, calling Trump his own worst political enemy and saying of his obsession with so-called fake news - that if he doesn't show more respect for the truth most Americans may conclude he's a fake president.
Something has clearly changed. Just prior to the indictments being made public, the journal published pro-Trump editorials, including one questioning the credibility of chief investigator Robert Mueller, calling for his resignation.
Donald Trump and his allies realised that firing Robert Mueller would result in real drastic consequences for Trump. So, the next best thing is to try to disqualify Robert Mueller, says Washington Post reporter Erik Wemple.
Much of what pro-Trump elements in the US media have produced on this story - their obsession with Hillary Clinton included - seems designed to sow uncertainty in the minds of Americans on a story that was already complicated.
And journalists from other outlets, in their zeal to get to the bottom of the story, may have unwittingly done the same thing, by conflating one story with another.
The charges against Trump's one-time campaign manager, Paul Manafort - for money laundering and fraud - all relate to overseas transactions that occurred before he was hired by Trump in 2016.
Another campaign aide charged, George Papadopoulos, tried to set up a meeting between Trump and Vladimir Putin - but it never happened.
It is not clear whether either case has anything to do with the other Russia angle out there - the allegations, as yet unproven, that the Kremlin somehow colluded with the Trump campaign during last year's election.
This goal of proving collusion as kind of an overarching theme of the media, in some ways, it plays into the right-wing media's own narrative, says Reed Richardson, Fair Media Watch contributor.
With each passing political story, American journalism seems to grow more polarised.
And media consumers, because it's never been easier to hunker down in the comfort of their own echo chambers, rarely venture out to a place - a news outlet - where their beliefs might actually be challenged.
Conservatives have spent decades building a parallel news apparatus in order to ensure that conservatives have an entirely different set of facts than those that everybody else gets. And what that means is that you have a large group of people that are being fundamentally and deliberately confused about what is going on in the country. That's pretty dangerous and it could be moving us in a fairly scary direction, says Gertz.

To Burn or Not to Burn: In Sweden, waste incineration plants convert excess and non-recycled rubbish into energy. The Swedish government classifies this process as recycling, but is this form of waste disposal really sustainable?

At a waste incineration plant in Västerås, Sweden, sixty tonnes of waste are burnt every hour, converting it into energy for electricity and hot water. Sweden has 34 waste-to-energy furnaces and the country makes over $100 million a year importing and burning waste from other countries. “We see it as a kind of recycling”, says Jocke Hook, who works at the Västerås plant. Yet much of the waste burnt is plastic and, as Professor Goran Finnveden explains, if you incinerate plastic you get carbon dioxide emissions”. Indeed Joan-Marc Simon of Zero Waste Europe believes that the number of incinerators will soon fall. We’re going to see incinerators closing down in Europe because they’re going to have less waste to burn and recycling is going to go up.”
