Ocean Tracks - Fair Isle Scotland Documentary
The film is of the trip to Fair Isle, to write and and record with folk singer and poet, Lise Sinclair.
Fair Isle is perched in the middle of the North Sea and sits midway between the Shetland Islands, the most northerly point in the United Kingdom, and the Orkney Islands.
The lyrics were written by Lise about her experience of living by the sea in Fair Isle, which is Britain's most remote inhabited island.
All of the players on the track are from the island itself (apart from John Robertson who played bass back in London).
Special thanks is due to all the islanders for their warm hospitality and contributions to the track and film.

Muckle Flugga Lighthouse
Muckle Flugga is a small rocky island north of Unst in the Shetland Islands, Scotland. It is often described as the northernmost point of the British Isles. It also used to be the northernmost inhabited island the but forfeited that accolade when the lighthouse was automated and the last residents moved out.
Muckle Flugga Lighthouse
The brothers Thomas and David Stevenson designed and built the lighthouse in 1854, originally to protect ships during the Crimean War.
First lit on 1 January 1858, it stands 20 m high, has 103 steps to the top, and is Britain's most northerly lighthouse.
The light beam flashes white every 20 seconds, with a nominal range of 35 km. In March 1995 it was fully automated.

A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and used as an aid to navigation for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways.
Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, safe entries to harbors, and can also assist in aerial navigation. Once widely used, the number of operational lighthouses has declined due to the expense of maintenance and replacement by modern electronic navigational systems.
