Fairbourne is a village on the coast of Barmouth Bay in Arthog community, to the south of the estuary of the River Mawddach in Gwynedd, surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park. Before the seaside resort was built the coastal area was known as Morfa Henddol, while the outcrop now occupied by the Fairbourne Hotel was called Ynysfaig.
Fairbourne was founded as a seaside resort by Arthur McDougall (of flour making fame.) It is in an area listed by Gwynedd council for managed retreat due to rising sea levels. The original Fairbourne Golf Club (now defunct) was founded in the early 1890s. The club disappeared in the early 1960s.
The Blue Flag beach at Fairbourne is a two-mile stretch of beach, backed by steep pebble banks, which exposes a vast amount of golden sandy beaches from mid-tide level. At the northern end the beach joins the Mawddach Estuary, while at the southern end of the beach is squeezed between sheer cliffs and the sea. The beach is an attractive venture for people exercising their dogs, however, during the summer months there is a dog ban enforced on the central area. There is sufficient access to the beach for those visitors with prams and/or wheelchairs, making this a welcoming rural location for all. The beach is fronted by tank traps known as Dragon's Teeth dating from the Second World War.
The Fairbourne Railway has provided a link from the village to Penrhyn Point for over a century. It runs regular passenger services between April and October. The Barmouth Ferry sails from the seaward end of the Fairbourne Railway to Barmouth/Abermaw.
Fairbourne railway station is served by the Cambrian Coast Railway, which runs from Machynlleth to Pwllheli and operated by Arriva Trains Wales. Lloyds Coaches also operate a regular bus service to Dolgellau and Tywyn

A walk by The Burn behind the blue door at Edzell. This is a walk along a very small part of the River North Esk (Mainly well ABOVE it.) and into the lower reaches of Glen Esk. A walk to behold, with magnificent views indeed. noisy when the water is in full flow, and I do not recommend you trying to swim there either.

We spoke to one of the probably largest investors and we hope to get dividends out of those talks, and to also show them that the country is open for business. Haiti is open for business and we want to show it to the leaders.

Those (existing problems) are inherent issues that is going to take time to fix. However, we've progressed enormously on every one of these issues. For example, the earthquake created about 4,000 Olympic size (swimming) pool worth of debris. So we had to work on removing this debris before we could go into reconstruction for example. The good news is 95 percent of this debris has been removed.

STORYLINE
Haiti's Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe said his deeply poor country was aiming to attract multi-national investors, instead of an eternity of handouts, to get on its feet after the devastating 2010 earthquake.
After the disaster it's normal... it's normal that we have the humanitarian assistance, but the humanitarian assistance cannot go on indefinitely, it has to transition into development assistance, Lamothe said on Saturday on the sidelines of 2013 World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Swiss ski resort of Davos.
The prime minister recognised it was an ambitious dream for a country where 52 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line and infrastructure is sorely lacking.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Lamothe said Haiti was open for business.
He is encouraging that idea, and a bid to build the Haitian tourism industry, in meetings with CEOs (Chief Executive Officers) at the World Economic Forum.
Haiti still has huge humanitarian needs, little more than half the 5.3 (b) billion US dollars in foreign aid promised after the earthquake has been delivered.
But Lamothe insisted that the country doesn't want to live on handouts forever.

There is no policy where Owners have to remove or change their Holiday Homes after a period of time.
Caerddaniel is situated in the Snowdonia National Park, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and is ideally located for visiting the many local attractions including Harlech, Criccieth and Caernarfon Castles, Portmeirion Italianate Village, Snowdon, Tal-y-Llyn, Fairbourne and Ffestiniog Light Railways offering scenic trips on the old steam trains. Visit the local lakes - from Cwm Bwchan and the Roman Steps to the famed Blue Lake at Fairbourne, slate caverns at Llanfair and Blaenau Ffestiniog and many more.
The surrounding area is ideal for hiking or walking. Why not try one of the many footpaths which offer excellent views of the countryside such as the 'Mawddach Trail' over Barmouth Bridge or the 'Panorama Mountain Walk', both with views over the Mawddach Estuary.
Mountain biking enthusiasts can try the Coed y Brenin Centre, which offers forestry and hill trails varying from easy family runs to the expert 'Bull Run'. Enjoy a round of golf on the wooded hillside course at Dolgellau or at the splendid Royal St. David's course at Harlech, or simply while away the hours fishing the local rivers, estuary and sea.
