Fairbourne Railway, Wales: Miniature Railway | UK
In this video the travel turtles visit Fairbourne Railway in Wales UK. We visited here to take our grandson who is obsessed with trains and often says the word choo choo every time he sees them. We apologize for the low quality of the footage as this was with our old camera, most of our new videos are shot in 4K as we travel the world.

So sorry for the wind noise,I must buy a mic muff for the VXF1.
Another railway we have visited many times but never uploading to Youtube. Most of my old footage is on VHS tape or on DVD's.
The weather was very warm, with a light cloud, the wind was quit strong as it was coming down the valley's.While on the flat it was just light.
Rosie had her normal cab ride which made her day....Many thanks to the driver for allowing her on.
This is the first of three videos taken over the weekend...This my favourite part of Wales, the scenery is just amazing.

Fairbourne narow gauge Railroad, Wales, Great Britain (England)
The Fairbourne Miniature Railway (Welsh: Rheilffordd y Friog) is a 12 1⁄4 in (311 mm) gauge railway running for 2 miles (3.2 km) from the village of Fairbourne on the Mid-Wales coast, alongside the beach to the end of a peninsula at Barmouth Ferry railway station,
The line was converted to a 15 in (381 mm) gauge steam railway in 1916 by Wenman Joseph Bassett-Lowke of Narrow Gauge Railways Ltd (NGR). They were keen to promote tourism in the area after the failure of the Arthog scheme in the early 1900s. The railway played an important part in the development of the 15 in (381 mm) gauge railways in the UK. Services were operated by Bassett-Lowke Class 10 locomotive Prince Edward of Wales designed by Henry Greenly and passengers were conveyed in four open top carriages.
Fairbourne Railway, Fairbourne - Barmouth Ferry
Alighting from the Cambrian Coast Mainline we join the miniature Fairbourne Railway for a run along the peninsula towards Barmouth Ferry, where you can alight and take a ferry accross the Mawddach Estuary to Barmouth. Along the journey the railway offers spectacular views up the estuary towards Snowdonia. Once back at Fairbourne I had a couple of hours before my train back, I took a walk up into the hills and discovered an abandoned quarry and an incredibly blue pool...

Fairbourne Railway [1989]
On a wet August day in 1989 I visited the then newly re-gauged 12.25in gauge Fairbourne Railway in Wales. This video was originally uploaded eleven years ago but has now been re-edited and copy quality improved.
The Welsh villagers who could become Britain’s first climate refugees
Climate change protests have taken place across the world. But nowhere in Britain is facing the consequences of global warming quite like Fairbourne, a village on the coast of North West Wales. Residents have been told that their homes will have to be abandoned because of the rise in sea levels.

In early June I visited this 12.25in gauge railway in Wales. Once again 759 was in use and is seen working 6 and 8 coach trains.
Fairbourne Railway
A trip on the Fairbourne Railway in North Wales. This 2 mile long 12.25 inch gauge miniature railway has been operating for nearly 100 years. The steam locomotives are half-scale models of narrow gauge prototypes. The railway runs through sand dunes at the mouth of the River Mawddach where a passenger ferry links the station with Barmouth on the further shore. The Barmouth railway bridge is the longest wooden bridge in Great Britain. For more information on this and other narrow gauge and miniature railways see .
