The Fairfield Horseshoe, Ambleside, Lake District National Park
The famous Fairfield Horseshoe consists of 8 peaks over 10 miles, the highest of which is Fairfield itself. Warm for January at 10 degrees centigrade but with gale force winds and heavy rain the morning was spent in extremely difficult conditions. However after midday the weather changed and we had some sunshine although we kept some strong wind. Mostly filmed with my GoPro as conditions were too bad to use any other camera. Enjoy!!!!!

Fairfield Horseshoe Wildcamp
This weekend it was time to walk off a few Wainwrights on the Fairfield Horseshoe with an overnight camp on Fairfield in the new Alpkit Soloist. Baking hot weather and stunning views were the order of the day.
Lake District - The Eastern Fells - The Greater Fairfield Horseshoe
Here Dave and I take on the Greater Fairfield Horseshoe in glorious weather. The Fell tops reached are Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Stone Arthur, Great Rigg, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Dove Crag, High Pike and Low Pike.
Over 8 years the Fat Boys have been helping a man achieve his dream of completing the 214 'Wainwrights' listed in his Pictorial Guides to the Lake District. Dave Galloway from Southend-On-Sea in Essex and now age 75 only just recovered from surgery following two bouts of Cancer. That coupled with other obstacles often put in his way, such as chronic cramps, blisters and awful crippling gout have not deterred him from making sure he makes the most of being given a second crack at life.
On this site we have documented in video every fell that Dave has conquered. The completion of his dream is now very near, watch it unfold on this YouTube site. Hope you enjoy this next small part of his challenge.

Fairfield Horseshoe
We parked in Ambleside around 09:00 before tackling the 11 mile walk around the Fairfield horseshoe in the Lake District.
Our first accent was up Nab Scar as we headed clockwise around the horseshoe, the weather held up with only a little rain as we reached the summit of Fairfield. Our route route back to Ambleside took us over Hart Crag, High Crag and Low Crag before enjoying a well earned beer back in town.

Landscape Photography - Lake District hiking/Fairfield Horseshoe
A testing day in the Lake District, hiking the Fairfield Horseshoe. The light is bad, very bad due to the harsh sunlight but still I remain positive. I battle with the wind and the testing walk but I come away with some nice landscape photography. Using my Canon 70-200mm lens, I simplify the compositions, making use of the faint light. I remain positive and my message here is to do the same, work with what you have.
