Tolverne, Cornwall
Tolverne is a small hamlet on the side of the River Fal near Feock in Cornwall. It is most well known for being the home of the King Harry Ferry, a car ferry which crosses the River Fal to the Roseland and saves drivers a long drive through Truro and Tregony.
The hamlet is surrounded on both sides by Trelissick (owned by the National Trust) and the whole hamlet is on the B3289, a road which starts at Playing Place and ends at St Just-In-Roseland.

Feock Methodist church
This video is of the outside of the Methodist church at Feock, near Truro, Cornwall, UK. The church is quite a nice church with its own car park. One of the doors (on the right side if you are looking from the road) has so much rust on it that it will not even open or the door will not move sadly this means that the doors will be 'un-usable' (which really it is now) which means part of the chapels history will be lost forever.
King Harry Ferry Chains
Filmed onboard the King Harry Ferry using a handheld Canon HV30 HD video and recorded onto Canon Professional tape. The King Harry Ferry Bridge is a vehicular chain ferry which crosses the Carrick Roads reach of the estuary of the River Fal in the English county of Cornwall. The ferry crosses between the parishes of Feock and Philleigh, roughly half way between the city of Truro, the lowest bridging point on the estuary, and the town of Falmouth, at the estuary's mouth. The ferry is owned and operated by the King Harry Steam Ferry Company Ltd. It moves in the water by pulling itself along on sunken chains. It is these chains which are the subject and focus of this short film. Abstract and painterly images are revealed using reduced film speed and close up shots. The ferry's engine and background noise provide the soundtrack. This film is the inspiration for a body of work which incorporates: Still Photography, Mixed Media Painting and Collage.
King Harry Ferry - Truro & Falmouth to St Mawes & The Roseland Peninsula
The crossing of the River Fal on The King Harry Ferry has been voted one of the ten most scenic ferry trips in the world by The Independent, alongside the Staten Island Ferry in New York and the Star Ferry in Hong Kong. The Feock terminal of the ferry is adjacent to the renowned Trelissick Gardens.
Established in 1888, it is an iconic part of Cornwall’s history. The King Harry Ferry connects St Mawes and the Roseland Peninsula with Truro and Falmouth by avoiding the alternative 27 mile route through Truro & Tresillian.
Each year the King Harry Ferry saves 5 million car miles, 1.7 million kg of CO2 and ¾ of a million litres of fuel. It carries 300,000 cars every single year.
A toll is charged for vehicular use of the ferry; a charitable donation is invited from pedestrians. Local people purchase concession tickets to keep the price low. If the ferry is not operating, the alternative is a 26-mile (42 km) detour via the city of Truro.
The King Harry Ferry is a vehicular chain ferry which crosses the Carrick Roads reach of the estuary of the River Fal in Cornwall, England, UK. The ferry is owned and operated by the King Harry Steam Ferry Company Ltd. The current ferry boat, named No. 7, was built in 2006 and can carry up to 34 cars.

Feock parish church
This video is of the inside of St Feock's church, Feock, near Truro, Cornwall, UK. The church is a very nice church quite close to the beach and the creek. The bell tower is not joined on to the church (a bit like at Gwennap or more famously at Gunwalloe). Inside the church is one of the nicest churches in Cornwall. The door can be quite hard to open.

Episode 4: Exploring Cornwall’s Historic Coastline
See Cornish rivers from a local boat owner’s perspective as John visits many of the easily explorable rivers from the Tamar in the east on the Devon border, to Europe’s largest natural harbour in Falmouth at the mouth of the Rivers Penryn and Fal.
In this episode John shows us sights such as the Cornish farmlands seen from the Lynher estuary, a tributary of the Tamar. He reveals the many attractions Falmouth offers and reasons to explore beyond the picturesque village of Fowey and up in to the River Fowey itself. So many of Cornwall’s rivers are wide enough and deep enough at high tide to be easily explored. The River Helford’s estuary is a yachtsman’s dream, whilst in the upper reaches of the River Fal large commercial ships can often be found laid up by their owners.
Our final episode will reveal John’s favourite, secret spots along the Cornish coast...don't miss it!

A few aerial shots of Restronguet Creek, Cornwall, UK
Trying out some aerial photography near Mylor Bridge, Cornwall. The water is Restronguet Creek. Also shown is the wedding venue on Dale and Sons' farm which overlooks the water. Title is named as such due to Paddington Station in London now announcing travel to 'The Cornish Riviera' which just sounds quite amusing (and also explains the music)

Kayak Cornwall - Loe Beach to Tresillian
After listening to the weather forecast and hearing that the tail end of Hurricane Gonzalo was going to reach Cornwall by the end of the day, we thought it only prudent to do another river trip. We left Loe Beach near Feock thinking that we may have to fight our way back against strong winds and mountainous sea’s, but not so! The sun shone and apart from a gentle headwind it was easy paddling all the way.
This was a record for bird spotting (the full list is on my blog) but no less than 7 Kingfishers were seen, along with many other airborne creatures. I am a coastal kayaker by choice but I have to admit to the joy of seeing so much wildlife around the rivers and creeks.
