One of the magnificent beaches in western Crete near the ancient port of Falassarna (Φαλάσσαρνα). The desert Lily shown is growing in sand dunes all over sandy coastal areas in Crete some 35 to 50m from the water's edge. The lilies are protected by sand thistle, which keeps them safe from being decimated by goats.

Falassarna Beach is famous for its gentle sand and clear water. The place is popular among tourists and locals. However, because the beach is very long, you don’t feel it’s crowded here. The infrastructure is well-developed: you can order a cocktail which will be brought directly to your sunbed. Falassarna Beach is protected from the wind by the mountains, but on our day, there were waves at sea. Like at Elafonissi, you can also see pink sand here. Falassarna is a beautiful beach that you should definitely visit, heading towards Balos.

The exotic beach of Falassarna is located 59km west of Chania and 17km west of Kissamos. It’s located in the western part of Cape Gramvousa. At the northern end of the beach are the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Falassarna.
Falassarna beach is one of the best beaches of Crete: crustal clear waters, good waves, sandy beaches with different little bays divided by rocks. Showers, toilets, bars and restaurants on the batch.
Falassarna is actually a big bay with turquoise water and sand that doesn't get stuck in your body. There are sand dunes separating the beach in smaller beaches, where you can stay and enjoy one of the most breath taking sunsets!

The sand in Falassarna is white, making the watercolor tropical. Indeed, if you're lucky and be here on a day that is not blowing from the west, rare in west Crete, you will be enchanted by the beach and its turquoise waters.
The main beach of Falassarna is called Pacheia Ammos (i..e Coarse Sand). It is an exotic beach with a length of 1km and a width of 150m. This beach hosts the most visitors of the area, but because of its length, it never seems crowded. The beach offers umbrellas and a few snack bars and cafes where you can get food and water. There are also services for water sports and a beach volley court.”

Short film about our holidays in Crete, Greece, September 2016. Crete is the largest Island in Greece. Crete is also one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. Car hire is a great way to explore Crete. The rental cars in Crete are generally pretty rubbish but are still a great way to explore the island.
The mostly photographed beach in Crete is Balos. There are two ways to get to Balos: the hard way, by car and the easy way, by boat. To see Balos from above you should go the hard way.
Another amazing beach in Crete is Elafonisi. In many places the sand has a pink color because of millions of crushed pink shells.
We have visited many beaches in Crete. In this video you can see Seitan Limani, Ravdoucha, Sfinari, Balos, Falassarna, Elafonisi and my favourite in Crete, Kedrodasos.

Είδατε πόσο εύκολα κατάφερε να διανύσει μία απόσταση περίπου 15,6 χιλιομέτρων με την μηχανή του στην επιφάνεια ανοιχτής θάλασσας στην παραλία Φαλάσαρνα στην Κίσαμο Χανίων.
