Wreck Point Lookout - Yeppoon
G’day it’s Pat and in this video I am taking you to Wreck Point. This lookout is just south of the town center and close to the road for easy access.
Whenever I get the itch to get outdoors that’s where I usually end up.

Opening of the new Wreck Point Scenic Lookout in Yeppoon
IT’S been a project over 30 years in the making, but the highly anticipated unveiling of the iconic Wreck Point Scenic Lookout upgrade became an exciting reality over the weekend.
The stunning location in Cooee Bay was identified by the Yeppoon Lions Club as an opportunity to visually enhance as far back as 1982, when they first proposed building a lookout at Wreck Point.
Fast-forward to February 2017 and the start of works for a contemporary viewing deck were welcomed with the Queensland Government contributing $190,000 in funding under its Scenic Lookout Upgrade Program to the project with Yeppoon Lions contributing $90,000 and Livingstone Shire Council $134,000.
The upgrade was part of a $3.2 million Queensland Government program to spruce up scenic lookouts throughout the state.

Mother MacGregor's Cods and Double Head Spotties
With the Mackerel around, I was keen to find some for the table. To begin, I headed to Mother MacGregor reef off Zilzie, hoping the wind and chop might stay down. Conditions were bearable, but other than cod, the fishing was a little quiet. The only Mackerel I landed was small, and the other I hooked bit me off.
With my heart still set on Mackerel for dinner, I headed a little further north and headed out to Ironpot, which was also quiet. I then pushed over to Double Head off Rosslyn Bay Harbour and watched as boats pulled in Mackerel either side of me, one landing a very nice Spanish, before I finally changed lure and hooked two Spotted Mackerel in quick succession. My first ever Spotties, mind you!
With plenty of time going into the two keeper Mackerel, it was a pretty tasty dinner that night!

Paradise - Yeppoon & Pearl Bay QLD 20-21 May 2019
Continuing on our lap of Australia on Paradise. Sailing to Yeppoon to provision the boat and pick up some feed to deliver at Middle Percy Island for the chickens and goats in a couple of days.
Approaching Yeppoon the water was a distinct murky colour, I'm not sure if the colour is due to algae or silt from the mud flats.
It was a quick stay overnight at the marina and we borrowed the courtesy car for a couple of hours. The signs at the boat ramp reminded us that there may be crocs about.
Back on the water, where is was rough again but it seemed a bit calmer on the blue water.
We stayed overnight at Pearl Bay but didn't venture very far as it is a military zone. Next stop is Middle Percy Island.
