Taupo City is a town on the shore of Lake Taupo, which occupies the caldera of the Taupo Volcano in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand.
My friend Navi and I started from Auckland in the evening and it took us roughly 4 hours to reach Taupo. The road trip was awesome as roads were empty as it was night time, and we drove through thick #Fog at few places.
We had booked a one night stay at #GrandeurTh ermalSpaResort in Taupo. It's a huge property spread across a vast area and has well maintained rooms to offer. Must book in a room here during your next trip to Taupo.

The Huka Falls are a set of waterfalls on the Waikato River that drains Lake Taupo in New Zealand.
A few hundred metres upstream from the Huka Falls, the Waikato River narrows from approximately 100 metres across into a canyon only 15 metres across. The canyon is carved into lake floor sediments laid down before Taupo's Oruanui eruption 26,500 years ago

Parry Kauri Park, Warkworth, Auckland
Parry Kauri Park, Warkworth
On the way back to Auckland, we stopped by Warkworth museum, but we did not go inside as the museum was closed at 3 pm. We saw a big Kauri tree standing in the front the carpark and we decided to have a look. This giant is 800 year-old and goes by the name McKinney Kauri .
We took a half hour walk through the boardwalks. The trail was great as we were surrounded by native trees and birds singing. It was also very easy to walk in and after 15 minutes we reached the lookout platform.
The information is from the website
The Warkworth and District Museum is located in the beautiful Parry Kauri Park. Take an easy stroll along one of the well-made boardwalks, through the native bush, to the lookout and kauri tree grove.
Kauri can grow to over 50 m tall, with trunk girths up to 16 m, and live for over 2,000 years. New Zealand’s largest kauri, Tane Mahuta, is on the West Coast

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

Tania McInnes - TacklingPovertyNZ Kaikohe - 16 September 2016
Tania McInnes, Deputy Mayor of the Far North District Council, discussed the importance of mentoring and tackling the lack of hope at the Kaikohe TacklingPovertyNZ one-day workshop on 16 September 2016.
Background to Tania McInnes
Tania is Deputy Mayor of the Far North District Council and is also a director of GBT Ventures Ltd, trading as Breakthrough Seminars (a coaching business with the byline ‘be your potential’). She has been chair of the Kaikohe Social Sector Trials Advisory Group and is a member of the LGNZ National Environmental Advisory Committee. Described by Mayor John Carter as a ‘highly motivated change agent with an impressive record’, Tania has had a varied and interesting career to date. She is one of the instigators of Focus Paihia, a successful community Trust, which has won national – She has also been an employment coach and worked with ‘at-risk’ youth. Born in the Waikato, Tania grew up in the Bay of Islands, where she now resides. She has a passion for empowering individuals and communities, believing that government, whether it be central or local, is here to serve and support its communities. Tania is leading a major district high level planning initiative – Te Manawatoopu – Our Voices, Our Vision, Our Journey. This is currently being facilitated by the Far North District Council, working alongside a cross-sector community reference group. The 2050 Vision for the Far North was adopted by Council in 2015 – He Whenua Rangatira – A District of Sustainable Prosperity and Well-being. The key aim is to grow prosperity, through encouraging Far North communities to work together and head in the same direction.
Background to the 2016 TacklingPovertyNZ tour
The 2016 tour was a response to a 2015 three-day workshop that brought together 36 participants aged 18 to 25 representing a diverse range of backgrounds from throughout New Zealand. Participants found that ‘assuming that one solution will work everywhere indicates a failure to address cultural disparities and injustices, and an ignorance of the diversity of our population’. The purpose of the 2016 tour was to build and share ideas on how to tackle poverty, come up with local solutions and connect like-minded people within communities.
The Kaikohe workshop was one of six, along with workshops in Queenstown, Manawatu, Rotorua, Gisborne and Kaitaia. A discussion paper for each area visited has been published on our website. These papers are specific to each community and together form a series showcasing insights from individuals who attended a one-day workshop in their local community.
To learn more about the tour, read Working Paper 2017/01 – TacklingPovertyNZ 2016 Tour: Methodology, results and observations. The paper brings all the outputs from the six workshops together and aims to illustrate the diverse range of challenges and opportunities existing in communities.
To find out more about the workshops, including other outputs, see
In 2017 we would like to build on these findings. There was a lot to learn and digest, and we are still working through what this means in terms of public policy.

Signs of Change - Amanda Yates - Performative Gardening
signsofchange.org.nz
Presented at Signs of Change National e-Conference, 15-16 November 2010, NEW ZEALAND
Urban Wellington is the site and stage for a summer season of garden performances that
draw attention to urban ecologies and sustainable food production. From November to
February a series of mobile gardens will move in a choreographed dance through the central
city, greening urban space with fruiting plants and scented herbs. Sited near once productive
Pa gardens, the movable plots remember that past through plantings of fruiting Cabbage
trees and heritage kumara, and reference successive waves of immigrants who brought their
food cultures with them parcelled in seed form. Designed by landscape architect Meaghan
Pierce-Delaney and architect Amanda Yates the gardens, as urban performance, make a
space for public discussions about food and energy security as oil becomes an increasingly
contested and expensive resource.
Sustainability issues are complex and it is not easy to initiate public debate: making change at
the small-scale and in a performative manner enables us to engage the public and act as a
sign of change within the city. Events and workshops will be sited in the gardens -- citydwellers
can eat organic cherry tomatoes while listening to an ecologist discussing urban
ecologies or a health researcher talking about how to make healthier cities through
sustainable design. As an urban intervention the performative gardening project will explore
how we could cultivate our cities, generating food locally, forming urban farms that are also
spaces for gathering, display and communal sustenance.
