Faro de Santa Pola
El faro del Cabo de Santa Pola está situado en el cabo de Santa Pola, Alicante, desde donde domina tanto la bahía de Alicante como la huerta de Elche y la isla de Tabarca. Se construyó en 1858 sobre la antigua torre de la Atalayola, que, a su vez, se había edificado en 1552.2 Era una torre de planta cuadrada y rematada por una cornisa.

Vår färd hemåt går vidare längs den spanska kusten. Efter en natt på Ikeas parkering i Mursia har vi nu kommit till Santa Pola.
Här stannade vi i två nätter.
Our journey home goes further along the Spanish coast. After a night at Ikea's parking in Mursia, we have now reached Santa Pola.

Santa Pola
Santa Pola is located on the Costa Blanca, approximately 20 minutes drive south of Alicante airport. A small fishing port, Santa Pola is famous for its variety of landscapes, from the views of the distant mountains to the wild sand dunes.
Facilities
Santa Pola is less busy and built up than Torrevieja but still has all the facilities you would expect from a small prosperous Spanish coastal town.
Industry
Alongside tourism, Santa Pola is also home to a major salt works and the harbour has the largest amount of fishing boats of any port on the Mediterranean Sea.
Beaches
The town has several wonderful beaches, including over 4km of fine sand and crystalline water. At the Playa Lisa beach you can walk out to sea for some distance and the water still only reaches knee-height!
History
Just offshore lies the island of Tabarca, which belongs to the province of Alicante. This island was once used as a headquarters by the Berber pirates, but nowadays it is a Marine Reserve, abundant with flora and fauna on both the island and in the surrounding waters.
National Park
Las Salinas, next to the town, is a marshland area that is a protected Natural Park and declared an area of special importance for wild birds, including Flamingos and stilt birds.
Activities
Santa Pola is ideal for many nautical sports and air based pursuits. It is common to see wind surfing, sailing, swimming, fishing, jet skiing and paragliding being practised along the coast.

Desde el faro de Santa Pola (Alicante)
El faro de Santa Pola se contruyó en 1858 sobre una antigua torre vigía llamada Atalayola, de 1552, hoy quedan algunos restos de ella.
La biodiversidad es especialmente sensibles, situada en un acantilado de unos 300 metros de altitud, y expuesta al rémigen de los vientos, habitan libélulas, pariposas Macahone, y uan de color violácea, caracoles y una especie de saltamontes mimético girafa diminuto, es tan delgado es casi invisible apena de dos centímetros, fino, color de las ramas en las que habiata, se camufla perfectamente en la vegetación y se hace practicamente invisible. En los acantilados crece el esparto, romeros, algunos eucaliptos y pinos diminutos carracos.

Santa Pola, Alicante is a fishing and tourist town, With its population more than doubling during holiday season (summer). With people traveling from UK, France, Northern Europe, Madrid the Basque autonomous community and rest of Alicante to name but a few. Tabarca island can be visited by boat/ship from the port area of Santa Pola (With many of the boats on the route in this video).
