Danxia Landforms - China
Around 80 million years ago (Ma) cretaceous red sandstone and conglomerate was laid down by sedimentation from the lakes and streams. After another 15 million years, tectonic plate movements created many faults.About 23 Ma, movement of the Himalayan range disturbed the land around the Danxia landform in the Guangdong Province of China uplifting and completely changing the topography of the area.Over millions of years the steep cliffs that can be seen today, exposed by faults, were formed through weathering and erosion. This geology can be seen at Danxiashan Geopark in China, where there is about 290 square kilometers of streams, forest and towering danxian rock formations.

Danxia scenic spot helps boost local economy in NW China
The tourism industry in Zhangye, northwest China's Gansu Province is booming, thanks to the Danxia scenic spot's unique landforms. According to data, the number of tourists to the scenic spot has been increasing sharply in recent years. In 2016, 1.42 million tourists visited the attraction, rising to 1.93 million and 2.32 million in 2017 and 2018, respectively. The average annual growth rate is higher than 30 percent.

This week I cycled from the city of Lanzhou in the province of Gansu up into the mountains and grasslands of the Qinghai/Tibetan Plateau. Stayed with a Tibetan family in their tent, done a spot of wild camping, climbed three mountain passes, and descended back down into Gansu to check out the rainbow mountains of Danxia Geological Park near Zhangye. What a week it's been!

The famous Lang Mountain scenic spot, located in Xinning County, Hunan Province, is World Nature Heritage, National scenic spot, and National geological park. It has four distinctive seasons, lush vegetation, and excellent ecological environment, and it is also a great tourist resort that launched sightseeing, leisure vacation, climbing, exploration, scientific research, and education at the same time.
Lang Mountain scenic spot is a mixture of Danxia and Karst land form that are mainly beautiful hills, precipitous mountains, and impressive valleys. The s-shaped path right beside the cliff over hundred meters is like the road to the sky, showing the long history of culture and folk customs. Walking on the first alley in the world can bring people into a magic world; drifting in the beautiful Fuyi River and enjoying the harmonious mountains and rivers, that would be a lot of fun.
