De Vrijheidslezing Amsterdam is een jaarlijkse diepteanalyse van de staat van de vrijheid, zowel in Amsterdam als elders op de wereld, dit jaar gehouden door strafpleiter Mr. Inez Weski
Vrijheid in Nederland staat onder druk. Individuele persoonsgegevens zijn niet meer heilig, media en politiek kruipen op de stoel van de rechter, nota bene de Partij van de Vrijheid roept op tot etnische registratie en proefstaatsburgerschap. De rechtsstaat als vrijheidsmachine wankelt.
De flamboyante Rotterdamse strafpleiter Mr. Inez Weski, berucht om haar 'goth' uiterlijk, beroemd vanwege haar uitgesproken en goed geïnformeerde stellingname, houdt een fundamentele lezing houden over vrijheid en recht.
Daarnaast bracht theatermaker Sabri Saad El Hamus een speciaal voor deze gelegenheid gemaakte solovoorstelling. Want de dramatische ontwikkelingen in Noord-Afrika en het Midden Oosten zien dat het initiatief tot vrijheid bij burgers lijkt te liggen. Wat betekent vrijheid voor het Egyptische volk? En zijn wij in het Westen zelf degenen die onze vrijheid moeten herpakken?

Bicycle parked in front of the broken window. Police on sidewalk beside book store where plate glass window has been broken and displays destroyed. An injured man holds his bleeding head as he talks to companions. An ambulance pulls up to curb. Several bicycles in front of the Felix Meritis building. I always feel slightly apologetic and embarrassed when I come to that part. Violinist Shunske Sato apologizes to recorder player Heiko ter Schegget for the space he claims in 'Brandenburg' Concerto No.4 in G major. They performed this piece with the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach.

Rode Tour CJB in Amsterdam : Jongeren niet strijdloos - Strijd is tijdloos!
Zaterdag 3 September hield de CJB een Rode Tour door Amsterdam, naar historische locaties van de Nederlandse communistische en arbeidersbeweging. Achteraf hielden we een BBQ met een muzikaal optreden met toepasselijke historische strijdliederen.
De Tour ging langs de volgende historische locaties:
- Standbeeld Ferdinand Domela Nieuwenhuis op het Nassauplein
- 'Volksvrouw' buste op het Marnixplein
- Standbeeld van de Jordaanoproer (1934) op de Noordermarkt
- Plaquette van de Februaristaking (1941) op de Noordermarkt
- Het Felix Meritis, voormalige partijkantoor van de CPN
- de Dokwerker op het Jonas Daniël Meijerplein
