The Fernmeldeturm Mannheim is a 217.8 metre high concrete telecommunication tower with an observation deck in Mannheim, Germany. It was designed by the architects Heinle, Wischer und Partner and built from 1973 and 1975.
It contains transmission facilities for UHR radio services, microwave communications, and omnidirectional radio services. A glassed observation deck and a revolving restaurant at a height of 120 metres allow a nice view over Mannheim and the surrounding area.
In December 1994 a German SAR Army helicopter returning from a medical patient transfer mission collided with the top of the tower and fell to the ground. The crew of four people died instantly. Parts of the top of the tower were disconnected and also fell to the ground.

Mit einer Gesamthöhe von 212,8 Metern ist der 1974 erbaute Fernmeldeturm Mannheims höchstes Wahrzeichen.
Direkt am Neckarufer gelegen entführt der Turm mit seinen beiden Aufzügen die Besucher mit sechs Metern pro Sekunde zunächst in die Höhe von ca. 120 Metern.
Auf der Aussichtsplattform und im Drehrestaurant Skyline wird ein atemberaubender Blick über Mannheim, die Rheinebene bis hin zu Odenwald und Pfälzer Wald gewährt - beeindruckend bei Tag wie bei Nacht.

Indoor tropical garden where most tropical plants can be seen where adults and children can enjoy and it is also educational because you can see the actual live tropical plants... aquarium of fresh and salt water fishes is there too to enjoy.
MANNHEIM CITY with a Motorglider!
On 1st September, we took our Diamond Super Dimona motorglider for a flight from Useldeng, Luxembourg to Mannheim City Airport in Germany, where we visited Friebe - Aeroshop, located in the close vicinity of the airport.
We took off at around 08.00lcl for a 1h flight, to be on blocks at Mannheim at 09:15, just as the shop opened.

Der Fernmeldeturm Mannheim ist ein von den Architekten Heinle, Wischer und Partner geplanter und von 1973 bis 1975 errichteter, 217,8 Meter hoher Fernmeldeturm. Er ist seit der Antennenaufstockung Anfang 2016 das höchste Gebäude Baden-Württembergs und gehört auch zu den höchsten Fernmeldetürmen Deutschlands. In der konstruktiven Entwicklung war der Mannheimer Fernmeldeturm der erste in Westdeutschland, dessen Tragwerk des Turmkorbs über ein spezielles Radialträgersystem gestützt wurde und damit baulich einen neuen Weg beschritt.[1] Der Turm gilt als ein modernes Wahrzeichen der Stadt Mannheim.[2]
Der Mannheimer Fernmeldeturm, für die Versorgung der Funk- und Fernmeldedienste im Raum Mannheim errichtet, war eine öffentlich begehbare Attraktion der Bundesgartenschau 1975. Der Turm beherbergt neben Sendeeinrichtungen für Richtfunk und Funkdienste im UKW- und Fernseh-Bereich in 124 Metern Höhe ein Drehrestaurant und in 121 Metern eine Aussichtsplattform, von der man einen Rundblick über Mannheim und das Umland bis hin zum Odenwald, Pfälzerwald und bei guter Sicht bis zum östlichsten Teil des Nordpfälzer Berglandes mit dem Donnersberg hat.
