Fethard Carnival 1964
The first Fethard Carnival was held in 1926 to raise funds for building the new parochial house. This annual festival has still survived up to now, 2014, and we can now have a glimpse back 50 years to the 1964 Fethard Carnival thanks to the photographic talent and foresight of Mr Donal O'Sullivan, Main Street, who captured these clips on cine film -- long before video cameras ever existed. Many well know Fethard faces are easily identified.

This recording was broadcast on October 19, 1988, on Australian 'State Affairs' news programme, Perth. The presenter was searching for his Brennan roots in Tipperary, Ireland, and found Ned Kelly's father, John Red Kelly's home at Clonbrogan, Moyglass, as well as paying a visit to O'Shea's Pub, Fethard, where Tony Newport sings 'Brennan on the Moor'.
