Jackie Chan Appointed General Director of China's Influential Film Studio
Iconic Chinese action star and director Jackie Chan was appointed as the general director of the Changchun Film Studio Group in northeast China's Jilin Province on Saturday.
Receiving his appointment certificate at a concert hall of the studio in Changchun City, Chan said he stands ready to take his new part and help the group to develop.
The Kung Fu star said he is optimistic about the studio's development prospects as it owns an abundance of excellent resources as one of the country's earliest film studios that have been regarded as the cornerstones of the Chinese film industry.
I visited here (Changchun Film Studio) when I was acting for a film some 20 years ago. They have a great storage of film props and sets. China has so many talented musicians, however, we didn't know who they are and where to find them. Today, we can use this platform to recommend the orchestra here to record background music for the Chinese blockbusters, said Chan.
Following the appointment ceremony, Chan also witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation contract between the Changchun Film Studio Group and his Hong Kong-based Sparkle Roll Group.
The Changchun Film Studio, the so-called cradle of new China's film production, was founded in October 1945. More than 1,000 films have been produced here over the past several decades. With the opportunity of cooperating with Jackie Chan, the film studio hopes to expand its market overseas.
