Let’s just set the scene here.
Picture what country living is all about. I’m guessing, a chocolate brown Labrador, 4x4's and tweed might feature quite heavily? That’s not a bad thing by the way. As far as this latest offering is concerned, you might be pleased to learn Its not all stately homes and acres of land, especially if you're a City dweller hankering for greener pastures but still can't let go of the lofty style, open plan living you've become accustomed to.
We think we've struck the right balance here, this incredible oast house, nestling in the West Kent countryside is a delicious conversion, combining ultra high end interiors with a stunning, traditional brick work facade and a smattering of woodwork on the outside, toped off by the twin roofs of the original building.
The restoration project started just over four years ago. The owners really wanted to keep as much of the integrity of the building as possible, out went anything that couldn't be salvaged. What did return however, was a serious amount of locally handcrafted glass & oak with the main staircase being a particular feature.
Much of the improvements throughout the house were behind the scenes, the remote controlled windows and underfloor heating, controlled via an app, top the tech side of things off nicely. It's light and airy throughout and lends itself perfectly to family living. The four bedrooms are located in the former drying rooms on the ground and first floor and all open out to the vast open reception room, with its industrial size wood burner on one level, and kitchen/dining area on the other. There's scope to add a fifth bedroom if required also.
Wander out to the walled garden at the rear of the house and its pin drop quiet, in fact that's pretty much the vibe everywhere, both inside and out. The scenery and setting are just sublime.Whilst there is ample parking to the side for more than a few cars, a covered car port, as equally attractive is also included. This houses a further two cars but could easily be transformed into a work shop or studio if required.
If you can drag yourself away and have to still commute to London for work, Staplehurst station offers a frequent service. If its a drive, your not too far from the much improved A21, providing access to the M25.
Being in an area of outstanding natural beauty, you'd expect the local towns and villages with there huge arrange of pubs, coffee shops and retail out lets to be as appealing, you won't be disappointed. Tunbridge Wells, Bodiam and Sissinghurst, all close, plus you have historic Rye, Bewl and Camber Sands within easy reach as well.
