Cross Lake Manapouri to West Arm
Bus transport to Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound
Cruise to Third Cove in Dusky Sound and anchor for the night

Day 2
Cruise through the Acheron Passage to Sportsman Cove
Cruise to The Basin and climb by foot to the hut
From The Basin cruise to Facile Harbour, site of the Endeavor Wreck
Visit Richard Henry's house on Pigeon Island
Anchor in Duck Cove

Day 3
Cruise to Sunday Cove (Resolution Island)
Walk to the lookout
Anchor at Luncheon Cove (site of Providence ship) for lunch and kayaking
Walk up to Astronomers Point (site of Captain Cook landing)
Anchor in Duck Cove

Day 4
Cruise down the coast to North Port in Chalky Inlet
Visit the Stella wreck
Back along the coast and past Gulches Head
Visit the Tarawera Mine in Preservation Inlet
Anchor in Revolver Cove

Day 5
Walk to the Puysegur Point lighthouse
Visit Kisbee Lodge
Visit Cemetery Island
Anchor in Revolver Cove

Day 6
Visit Spit Island and beaches
Cruise to Cascade Basin and anchor for the day
Kayaking

Cruise to Spit Island
Helicopter to West Arm (Lake Manapouri)
Cruise back to Lake Manapouri

Fiordland National Park & Milford Sound, New Zealand

Headed further south from Queenstown to Te Anau and then to Fiordland National Park. After making a few scenic stops, the bus drove thru the Homer tunnel enroute to Milford Sound. A spectacular fiord, which i explored via the Southern Discoveries cruise. Cruising thru mountains and numerous waterfalls, the cruise went up to the end of the fiord at the Tasman Sea before returning to the harbor. Milford Sound, New Zealand

Milford Sound/Piopiotahi is a fiord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island within Fiordland National Park, Piopiotahi (Milford Sound) Marine Reserve, and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world's top travel destination in an international survey (the 2008 Travelers' Choice Destinations Awards by TripAdvisor) and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. Rudyard Kipling had previously called it the eighth Wonder of the World.

Milford Sound sports two permanent waterfalls all year round, Lady Bowen Falls and Stirling Falls. After heavy rain however, many hundreds of temporary waterfalls can be seen running down the steep sided rock faces that line the fiord. They are fed by rain water drenched moss and will last a few days at most once the rain stops.

Milford Sound was initially overlooked by European explorers, because its narrow entry did not appear to lead into such large interior bays. Sailing ship captains such as James Cook, who bypassed Milford Sound on his journeys for just this reason, also feared venturing too close to the steep mountainsides, afraid that wind conditions would prevent escape. -Wikipedia

Milford Mariner Cabin, Milford Sound, New Zealand

This day and overnight cruise boat from Real Journeys is a 131-ft-long vessel operating on Milford Sound, New Zealand. She is a newer and more upscale version of the Milford Wanderer. Built in 2000, the Mariner does similar daytime nature cruises and overnight trips, accommodating 150 passengers daytime and 60 overnight.

Milford Sound is a New Zealand icon. We visited by boat twice and kayak once and each time was just as amazing as the last. The rain turns on all the beautiful waterfalls and on a clear day you can view the tops of the towering mountains. Don't miss Milford Sound and Fiordland in general, it's just awesome! We did both cruises with Southern Discoveries and even met up with some of their employees on the Milford Track ( The kayak trip went all the way to the Tasman Sea at the mouth of Milford Sound and was with Rosco's Milford Kayaks.
