30/42 - Fir Park, Motherwell FC, 31/8/19. Ground 30 saw us make the trip to North Lanarkshire to tick off Fir Park as we took in Motherwell against Hibs. The match was a procession for the home side who deservedly won the game 3-0 and really should’ve won it by a lot more!
Due to some horrendous traffic in the area we arrived at the ground just after kick off and the massive South Stand really dominates the skyline as you approach. A slice of good fortune saw us park right outside the ground opposite the Phil O’Donnell Stand. Happy days!
We decided to sit in the John Hunter stand and at £20.00 for entry felt it was excellent value offering us a great view of the match. Despite the odd pillar here and there we felt the price paid, plus the incredible atmosphere inside the ground, delivered value for money. To our right was the smaller Davie Cooper Stand, off to our left the imposing South Stand which housed the large travelling support and directly opposite us the odd looking Phil O’Donnell Stand. It seems they were originally going to build this stand the entire length of the pitch but then didn’t for some reason. Even the metal work is still there!
The Motherwell pie was delicious. We were forced into having a steak pie today due to mince being sold out but we weren’t bothered at all. Could’ve had a second to be honest it was that good! The Motherwell Club Shop was doing a roaring trade at full time and thankfully had a decent pin badge selection all priced at £3.00.
In amongst the Well fans today was a brilliant experience. They created a brilliant atmosphere (as did the travelling support) and it was great to be in amongst a large crowd at a game again.
A really enjoyable day overall. ????
