Nine people were killed in a possible arson case in New Taipei City's Zhonghe District. And the tragedy was further compounded by the apparent fact that the fire happened at an illegal rooming apartment. The investigators found 25 rooms in what used to be a single-family home, with the smallest space measuring only 2 pings. Most rooms did not have windows, and the stairs were the only escape route. Foreign migrant workers are believed to be among the casualties.
