Firewater Mineral Healing Spring St Ann. Jamaica
Firewater - Windsor Mineral Spring, St. Ann, Jamaica
This is the only know hot spring on the planet that can be set on fire. Gases escaping from beneath the spring outlet contain methane which readily ignite. It produces an incense-like odor. The water is intensely salty. Hire a local guide to accompany you, the locals charge $30 to soak in the water (the water is drained and changed after each soaker), or $10 just to look around and photograph.
JAMAICA FIRE WATER || ST. ANN'S BAY JAMAICA || VLOG
So for this road trip we visited the famous 'Fire Water' in St. Ann's Bay.
We didn't want to take the full toll so we went across Flat Bridge and also stopped at the well known 'Pum Pum Rock'.

The Windsor Mineral Spring (more commonly known as Fire Water) is a small pool of water with a very unusual quality. The pool contains water which can catch fire! This phenomenon is believed to be caused by a high concentration of sulphur in the water.
Once you arrive at the community of Windsor, you'll be greeted by the residents who will usher you towards a bamboo and tarpaulin shielded enclosure. Inside lies the famous Fire Water. Your guide will demonstrate the fire water to you and let you walk through the flaming water.

My second trip to Fire Water for the full treatment!

This water apparently has minerals in it that burn, the water stays warm. Very awesome.

Firewater Hot Spring - St. Ann, Jamaica
The Fire Water hot spring in St. Ann, Jamaica, very close to Ocho Rios, is the only know hot spring on the planet that can be ignited. Locals say the gas is sulfur, but scientists have analyzed it and it is actually methane, though the scent is more like incense. The water is warm, tingly, and intensely salty. (Locals drink it.) Hire a guide in Ocho Rios who knows the location, and be prepared to pay $10 to look and photograph, $30 to soak (the pool is drained between soakers), or more if you'd like a massage and scrub (be prepared for rudimentary surroundings and untrained therapists). One of the most unusual sights on the planet.
Rhysing Across Jamaica Part 1 - Fire Water
Windsor Mineral Spring in St. Anns Bay was our first stop for adventure in Jamaica. My mom promised my sister & I that we would be amazed, because the water at the spring had FIRE on it, & we had to see it to believe it. We were not disappointed!!! Check out my video and see for yourself.

Fire Water Jamaica - Mystical, Ancient Healing Hidden Springs
If you have never heard of it, or seen it with your bare eyes, it's a phenomenon that has captured the attention of people from far and wide. Tucked away in the garden parish of St. Ann, Jamaica lies a pool of water, referred to by many as Fire Water. But what is it about it that makes eyes open in disbelief and hands reach out to touch the water? Yes! It is for real! Living fire burns ontop of the water in only one particular part of this circular pool of warm running water with it's bitter and salty healing properties.

Fire Water, St Anns Bay Jamaica
My second time to visit firewater in Jamaica. A very cool experience.
Fire Water hot springs, St. Ann, Jamaica
Firewater, or Windsor mineral springs, the only know hot spring on the planet that can be ignited.
Jamaican Fire Water
Me and my Fiancee at the Healing Spring in Jamaica discovered about 100 years ago by the Prophet Granny Mae who is still alive today. This spring is known for its legendary healing qualities and is unspoiled by capitalism. One of my favorite spots on the island by far.
This is 100% real. I have spent lots of time in the community and have met Granny Mae and her family who control the spring. These are amazing gifts from the creator that used to be found in abundance all over the world, but mans desire for material wealth makes these treasures a rare find. Any one interested in visiting St. Anns Bay, Jamaica, or the Fire Water should definitely do so. Feel free to message me with any questions you may have.
Soaking in Fire Water hot springs, St. Ann, Jamaica
The methane rising from the naturally hot salt spring in St. Ann, Jamaica is concentrated enough to be ignited, and you can soak in the water as the fire dances above you. Hire a local guide in Ocho Rios who knows the location, as it's in an impoverished area close to the highway. Locals charge $10 for a look, $30 to soak (the water is drained and refilled between users), or more for a scrub and massage. Locals have been drinking the water for years, and the lady who discovered that the spring could be set afire lived to be older than a hundred, claiming her longevity was from the spring.
FireWater Pond in Saint Ann's Bay, Jamaica.
Located at the end of a looping dirt road just outside of the Runaway Bay roundabout in St. Ann, Firewater pond is said to be one of Jamaica's best-kept local secrets. Housed in a makeshift bath area, the pond contains natural gases which create floating flames on top of jacuzzi-like, bubbling waters when lit. The skin, hair, nails, joints, and internal organs are said to benefit from the effect of the sulphur-filled waters. The spring with its fiery potential has been discovered by Granny May, or Mehala Smith, born on March 8, who states that she is 107 years old and the mother of 18 children.
Granny May discovered the ability of the water to flame when, once, trying to burn a wasp nest from the cotton tree, the torch fell into the water and instead of going out, the flames spread. A lot of lore has developed around the water, with locals - soon after it was discovered - engaging in frequent baptismal trips at the site of the bubbling spring, which was now a pool.
Today, the pool area has been concreted and enclosed in bamboo and tarpaulin as a group of young men, including some of the descendants of Granny May, have commandeered it as a source of income and 'for the healing of the people'. A spreading guango tree provides shade while Townie, Rastaman, Police, Goldhog and two other masseurs work their magic at the pool, which accommodates five to six persons at a time. The men heat towels over the flames and apply them to areas where bathers complain of pain, or just provide a general massage. The 'fire massage' is said to help with poor circulation, Cripple man walk out of it heal, said 35-year-old Henry McLeod who has been a masseur at the sulphur spring for the last 10 years. The waters are let out and replenished after every group leaves.
Since it is off the grid, there is no actual address for Firewater, located in St. Ann's Runaway Bay roundabout, about a half hour from Ocho Rios. Few locals and practically no tourists are aware of Firewater, so it is difficult to locate. If you're willing to take an afternoon adventure, try to convince a driver to help you find it. It will be well worth the trip. There is an extremely narrow dirt road behind the Norman Manley Training grounds. If you can find the mechanic garage behind the main highway past the training grounds, you'll see a lot filled with old fishing boats. If you haven't given up when the road becomes even more narrow as you drive on the edge of a steep cliff overlooking a shallow river, continue down the road until you reach a small shanty town. You'll know when you get there when the friendly rastafarians greet you and guide you to the parking area. They will give you the history of the mysterious healing waters, and if you are willing to climb a small mountain, you may get to meet the healer, Aunty. You may even be invited to share a vegetarean meal cooked directly over the flames shooting out from the water.
This magical place was kept a secret for years, but is now open to a few visitors each day. Since the shanty town has very little income other than a less than bountiful farm, donations are accepted from visitors. The money helps to buy clothing, school supplies and food for the struggling families in the community. Whether or not you believe in the natural healing abilities of Firewater, a hot towel massage, a clay mud-bath, and a long soak in the spring of flaming fires is a wonderful way to relax and give a prayer of gratitude and praise to The Father. Firewater is the perfect place to end your vacation before returning to the pressures and struggles of life while living in the world.
