Lee Strobel, Mark Mittelberg and William Lane Craig are hosting a seminar being broadcast simultaneously to participating churches around the US the evening of October 14th, 2012 in how to deal with the rise of atheism. They are promising to unpack the central claims made by those who deny God's existence and discuss how we can best answer them. This should be very interesting because atheists don't make any claims other than: Your evidence for god is lacking, therefore I don't believe in it. Not sure how they can answer that since they already tried and failed. At any rate, I think it would be a good idea if atheists attended this event in order to find out what is being said about our position and how these fundamentalist evangelicals are preparing themselves to confront us. Hope you can attend and help get the word out!

Rev. Dr. Cordell E. Simpson I was born in Nashville, TN where he received his formal education. After high school he entered the United States Army where he served for four years in the 101 Airborne Division.
In 1978, the Lord called him to preach the gospel. He has pastored in three states: Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. The Rising Star Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL., Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Rome, GA. and Bethel Baptist Church in Alcoa, TN. He has pastored for a total of 26 years. Rev. Dr. Simpson has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Birmingham Baptist Bible College. He has also studied at Beason School of Divinity Birmingham AL. and the Birmingham Theological Seminary. He has a Master in Counseling, Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Divinity from the International Bible College and Seminary in Independence, MO. where he made the Dean’s list with a 4.0 grade point average. Dr. Simpson has led six Missionary Journeys to Nigeria Africa where they have carried rice to the widows in the villages and School of the Blind, Clothe the Naked in the Adumawa Mountain of Nigeria. He taught a Pastor’s conference and preached revivals in 16 states of Nigeria Africa. He has led many to except Christ as Lord and Saviour.
In August of 1998, Rev. Dr. Simpson entered into the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program at UTMC Knoxville Tn. and completed a residence of four units. In August of 2001, Rev. Dr. Simpson retired from the pastoral ministry and was hired as the first Black staff chaplain for the Heart, Lung, and Vascular Institute, Hospice Chaplain, and Coordinator for the pastoral care for Black clergy. In 2006, Rev. Dr. Simpson received a call from God to leave UT Medical Center to become the Twelfth Pastor of Eighth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. Dr. Simpson has since become the first African American Staff Chaplain at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He continues to practice evangelism not only in the church, but also in the community. He is also active in the Stones River District Association, a member of The TBME Convention of Tn. and The National Baptist Convention USA Inc.

Corryton is an unincorporated community in northeastern Knox County, Tennessee, United States, about 15 miles northeast of Knoxville. The United States Geographic Names System classifies Corryton as a populated place. It is included in the Knoxville, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Corryton Zip Code also encompasses the adjacent community of Gibbs (sometimes known as Harbisons Crossroads).
Corryton is situated near two mountains, House Mountain (the highest point in Knox County) and Clinch Mountain. It includes a grade school, a public library, community center, and several churches including Little Flat Creek Baptist Church (founded in 1797, making it the first Baptist church organized in Knox County), Corryton Church (formerly Corryton Baptist) and Rutherford Memorial United Methodist.
John Sawyers, a Revolutionary War veteran, settled in the vicinity of what is now Corryton in 1785. He subsequently built a small fort along the Emory Road. The community remained primarily agricultural until the construction of the Knoxville, Cumberland Gap and Louisville Railroad through the area in the late 1880s. The rail station that served the community was initially known as Floyd. In 1887, an entrepreneur named Corryton Woodbury purchased the station and adjacent lands, and laid out lots in hopes of establishing a new town, which he named after himself. The lots failed to sell, however, and the venture was unsuccessful.
Gibbs High School in Corryton has several famous alumni, including country musicians Kenny Chesney, Con Hunley, Phil Leadbetter, and Ashley Monroe.
On April 25, 1983, Thomas Knauff set an FAI world record flying a glider on an out-and-return course of 1,646.68 km (1,023.20 mi), releasing from tow over Williamsport Regional Airport in Pennsylvania, flying south along the Ridge-and-valley Appalachians to take a turn-point photograph of the Little Flat Creek Church in Corryton, then returning for a landing after a 10-hour flight. The photographs were published in National Geographic magazine. This world record stood until 2003 when it was broken in Argentina, but still stands as a U.S. national record.
