Our excitement rose to infinity when the door latch was opened and we whizzed down in a zip line with the view of Swiss Alps soaring 84km/hr from First to Shreckfeld at First Flyer Grindelwald Switzerland.

You gently float up to First in the security of the gondola. But then it gets airy: On the Flying Fox (Tyrolienne) First Flyer at up to 80 km per hour, on the suspension bridge of the First Cliff Walk or on the agile Mountain Carts with the wind in your hair. You simply cannot plan adventure. You find one. On First that is a certainty.

First Mountain in the Swiss Alps of Switzerland offers the best extreme activities during the summer months ranging from mountain carting, zip line, paragliding and scooter biking which you can reach with the gondola from Grindelwald in the Jungfrau region.
Did you know the Moo Moo Farm race track from Mario Kart 64 actually exists? Due to the many cows with cowbells on the First this is as close as it gets to the actual video game race track.

Paragliding, 88km/h by zipline, mountain carting and scooter biking, the First mountain in Grindelwald offers it all.
I recommend taking the gondola from Grindelwald in the early morning to the top of the mountain on which you can enjoy breathtaking views of the valley than enjoy the famous cliff walk with glass floor before heading to the zipline.
The lineup at the zipline can easily grow to a 2 hour wait so I highly suggest you make that your first activity in the morning after the cliff walk.
Afterwards hop on the mountain cart located next to the zipline end-station to experience Mario Kart in real life.
The prices vary a lot per activity with paragliding at $200, zipline at $30 and mountain cart & scooter bike both at $20 each.
Whatever your budget, a day on the First is worth every penny especially when the skies are clear and the weather is warm.
If you are not on a tight budget, treat yourself to a delicious lunch at the First restaurant and enjoy its great views from the terrace. If you are on a budget, I highly recommend you pack a lunch to safe cash for the activities.
Finally, the scooter bike, these bikes go extremely fast so don't be generous on the breaks while in tight situations.
The scooter bike trails take your through gorgeous landscapes with grazing cows and little mountain cottages, ideal Instagram-selfie-opportunities here.
If time permits hike towards the lakes on the First, at the Bachsee and Hagelseewli you will be able to enjoy astonishing views.

The Grindelwald ZipRider®, locally known as the “First Flieger,” opened to the public in January 2009. Alpine zip line center is offering downhill rides of over 800 meters at speeds of up to 84 km/hr.
It was an excellent experience especially with a scenic view of the mountains! It was incredibly beautiful view. Father, my girlfriend, and I enjoyed every minute of it!
You all have to give it a try during winter or summer time. It worths the money!

The Swiss Alps in Grindelwald-First Cliff Walk and Cable Car to the Top of Adventure
Join me for this amazing quick tour to Grindelwald-First Cliff Walk in the Jungfrau region (Bernese Oberland).
I took a train from Lauterbrunnen to Grindelwald and then walked for 10 minutes to the Grindelwald-First cable car station and then went up all the way to Grindelwald-First by the cable car. The cable car journey took approximately 25 minutes to go all the way up.

Flying with a bird of prey can be exhilarating.
Especially when an eagle called First Glider takes flight. His four passengers float through the mountain landscape and enjoy a panoramic view at high speeds.
To begin with, the First Glider is pulled backwards from Schreckfeld towards First at 72 km/h.
It is on the way back that the eagle really takes off.
The passengers glide the 800-metre-long flight route at up to 83 km/h.

First Flyer (First Flieger) Zip line at the top of First / Grindelwald, Switzerland (Swiss Alps)
Used my ContourROAM helmet camera to capture my ride on the First Flyer (or First Flieger in German), an 800 meter long zipline ride / attraction in the Swiss Alps. It's called the First Flyer because First (pronounced roughly like 'fierce' with a T on the end) is the name of the peak that is the starting point. You are tightly strapped into a harness-like seat that is suspended from a cable. When the gate opens you shoot down past the cable cars towards Schreckfeld, 210 meters lower down the mountain, dangling 45 meters above the ground and reaching speeds of up to 84 km/h (about 50 mph). The views are amazing, with the Eiger and the rest of the Bernese Alps as a backdrop.

The First Flyer is located up above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland, and easy to reach with public transport: direct train from Interlaken to Grindelwald then a cable car up to First. The ride costs 25 francs, but it's cheaper if you get an all-in ticket with the cable car and free if you have a skipass / KeyCard for the Jungfrau Ski Region.

On the racy ride from First to Schreckfeld, adventure junkie sit safely strapped into a well-constructed harness. At the bottom, the ride is halted by a dampening brake mechanism. Up to four people can ride down, separately but simultaneously on the gigantic zip lines. Known as a zip rider in the USA, this is a unique all-year-round attraction in Europe.
Minimum weight 35kg, maximum weight 125 kg.
Group reservations can only be made for morning rides!
