Lanzarote Airport Aeronautical Museum [FULL HD]
Airport Aeronautical Museum
The historical development of Lanzarote is closely linked to the history of aviation. The beginning of air transport in the second decade of the 20th century radically transformed the economic and social standing of the island.
The Aviation Museum was established in response to public interest in learning about the aeronautical history of Lanzarote, and makes it possible to preserve a historic, iconic building.
The Museum is located in the first passenger building built at Lanzarote airport in the early 1940s. Its most notable architectural features include the square form of its floor plans and spaces, the simplicity of its decoration and the individualisation of its elements.
The main lobby offers a chance to admire the original 1959 mural by the Belgian painter Jean P. Hock, untitled. The reproduction of the work titled Lanzarote, by César Manrique, is displayed in room 3 of the museum. The Hock mural remains in its original location, although the Manrique work was dismantled and transferred in 1994 by the César Manrique Foundation. The work is acrylic on wall, painted in 1953, with metaphors and references describing the social and cultural reality of the island at that time.
This museum offers the possibility of school or college visits, with its interactive and participative options, computer applications, audiovisuals and multimedia. The content is illustrated with an extensive selection of photographs and objects, displayed on panels and in glass cases, and model planes from different periods.
The museum has a special promotional programme and guided tours geared especially for the residents of Lanzarote, schools and education centres on the island, specific groups (disabled, elderly, residents' associations and others), tourists and groups specialising in tourism, air transport and airport activities.

Running In A Volcanic Desert - Trails & Quiet Roads In Lanzarote
Training run for treadmill workout scenery. Virtual running - 25 minutes with GoPro in first person point of view (pov) - about 5k on some rough terrain, mostly uphill. Costa Teguise-Teseguite-Nazaret. Part planned and part exploring.....The video only shows the middle part of an afternoon in which I covered at least a half marathon in total - probably about 15 miles or 25km. I've edited out sections where the footage was too choppy, or I went the wrong way etc!

Hi! My name’s Jake from Holiday Extras Travel Guides, and here is our guide to Lanzarote.
Now, before we get cracking here’s some handy info for when you’re planning your trip to the beautiful island of Lanzarote.
Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands, a part of Spain just off the coast of Africa. Even late in the year, the temperature rarely drops below the twenties, so it’s great for a bit of winter sun.
It’s nearly 3000km away from the UK. Which means from the airport lounge to the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, you’re looking at about a 4 hour flight time. The airport was renamed in 2019 to celebrate famous artist César Manrique, his creativity left a huge legacy in Lanzarote; you’ll see his name everywhere. But we’ll talk more about that later.
The island is actually quite small, it never takes more than 40 minutes to drive anywhere. For this reason we actually hired a car to get around the island. Public transport and excursion coaches are available if that’s not your thing, but the car’s definitely the most flexible and hassle-free option.
Ok, now you have the bare essentials about the islands, here is the main event. Our TOP nine things to do in Lanzarote...
Up first at number one is arguably the most famous of all - Timanfaya National Park. It’s a huge protected reserve set in a volcanic mountain range, made up entirely of volcanic soil.
Timanfaya is famous for looking like you’re on another planet. Bubbly, cooled lava as far as the eye can see looks completely alien. The best way to see it all is to hop on one of their coaches. It takes you all around the park’s landscape, and is included in your ticket!
The volcanic activity continues beneath your feet. In fact, you’ll be shown that when you visit. Water is poured into deep holes in the ground that go just 13 meters below. Down there, it’s hot enough to make the water boil instantly, resulting in ...very loud steam geysers!
They actually use this volcanic heat to grill the food in the restaurant, El Diablo. Where else can you say you’ve had lunch cooked by a volcano!? If you’d like to know more about El Diablo, check out our Where to Eat in Lanzarote video.
So, as you can see from my beard - it’s pretty windy! So I would recommend bringing at least a light jacket up here, even if you’re coming in the summer seasons cos it’s gonna get chillier!
At number two? We’ve got the beautiful El Golfo.
It’s a small seaside village on the outskirts of Timanfaya national park. The two big reasons people visit El Golfo are found just outside the village.
Looking down from the cliffside pathway, you’ll pass a beautiful black sand beach lined with big volcanic rocks. The rocks act as a breakwater, and the tall white waves crashing against them really is a site to behold.
Keep following the path and you’ll have a clear view of the famous El Lago Verde, or The Green Lake. It’s teeming with volcanic minerals and micro-organisms - that’s what gives it this vivid green colour.
I don’t know if it’s the black sand, or the crashing waves and the clouds but everything's just so dramatic. Especially the giant green volcanic puddle. Crazy!
Number 3 is the stunning Jameos Del Agua. This was the first tourist destination created by Lanzarote’s famous César Manrique who we mentioned earlier. It’s a cross section of art, design and nature. There’s an auditorium, gardens - and even a fantastic restaurant.
A staircase follows the slope of the lava tunnel down to a pool that is the home of the blind lobster, an endemic local species.
Jameos Del Agua’s designer Cesar Manrique wanted to give visitors somewhere to contemplate a natural attraction, formed almost entirely without human intervention. Even gardens in the open-air section of the caves were designed with this in mind.
It feels more like a gallery than a garden, do you know what I mean? The nature is just here to speak for itself. I think for me that's really reflective of Cesar Manrique, you know? He really liked to marry the nature and the art. This is a perfect example. I mean this tunnel - the lava tunnels would still be here even if none of this man-made stuff was here and they would still look just as fantastic. I think the whole place really kind of like… speaks for itself.
Coming up at number 4 is the tranquil Teguise. If you’re looking for authenticity, look no further than Teguise...
Armas Ferry - Fuerteventura to Lanzarote
The ferries between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote run roughly once an hour and are operated by Armas (slow ferry) and Fred Olsen (fast ferry).
Book your ferry tickets here -
We caught the first Armas ferry in Corralejo (Volcan de Tindaya) which took us to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. Although it is the slowest of the two ferries it still only takes around 35 minutes. Just time to have a coffee and a bite to eat. As with most things here, and unlike the UK, the food prices on board are very reasonable. Two coffees and a toasted cheese and ham baguette only cost 5€ (£4.50). On a cross-channel ferry that would have cost probably in excess of £12.
We took advantage of the Canary Island residents' discount so our one-way trip from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote, with a car, only cost 31€.
I will show what the Fred Olsen ferry is like in a future video.

Lanzarote: My First Holiday Abroad
Hi,
Thought I'd share a video I put together of our family going on holiday. More importantly this was Ethan's first time away abroad.
We didn't know how he would react on the plane and the hot weather etc but he handled it brilliantly and he enjoyed every minute of it.
Ethan is 1.5 years old and we felt it was the right age for a proper holiday.

I have visited Lanzarote Island (Canary Island, Spain) in March 2018 with my family for 5 days trip and filmed the amazing moments with my Go Pro Hero 4. We have travel through the island from north to south and enjoyed every single minute we had in the beautiful volcanic island. We have stayed in Puerto del Carmen which was the busiest resort in the island (still not busy). First two days was very windy in the island but it calmed down for the rest 3 days. We have visited all the tourist attractions including incredible Timanfaya national park and enjoyed sunbed in the best Papagayo beach close to Playa Blanca resort. Playa Blanca was a bit different from the Island as it surprised me with its own warm climate. If you would like to go to Lanzarote I certainly would recommend you to stay in Playa Blanca which has amazing views and climate. Puerto del Carmen does not have much to offer only one street with some bars and restaurants :) Enjoy Watching and please subscribe for more travel videos! :)
