Austrian Food Review - 4 Dishes to try in Vienna, Austria
Come join us for Austrian Food as we review 4 different dishes that we try eating in Vienna, Austria at Schweizerhaus restaurant located in Prater. Having arrived in Prater to film the amusement park and famous ferris wheel Wiener Riesenrad. Knowing us, eating some traditional Austrian food was a priority before we got on any rides. Overall, we tried four different dishes keying in mostly on Viennese classics such as wiener schnitzel and apfelstrudel (apple strudel). The following is a list of food items from our meal:
1) Austrian Goulash (tasted more like Pörkölt)
2) Schnitzel (Wiener Schnitzel vom Schwein) with pork
3) Viennese potato salad (Wiener Erdäpfelsalat)
4) Viennese Apple Strudel (Wiener Apfelstrudel)
*A note about wiener schnitzel. It should be made with veal to be authentic. The one we got with pork would actually be called Wiener Schnitzel vom Schwein or Schnitzel Wiener Art.*

Austrian Food Review - 4 Dishes to try in Vienna, Austria Travel Video Transcript:
hello from a rather unusual dining spot. Today we're at an amusement park. We're visiting Prater (Schweizerhaus) and we got really hungry so we figured let's make a food video first, go on the rides later and we figured we should probably try some Austrian food.
So it is one of those cases where the food arrived before we even started filming our intro. So everything we're having is already at the table. We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel, we got some goulash, Viennese potato salad and it all looks amazing. So yeah let's dig in. And we even have dessert coming too. And beer.
And the beer is going to go so nicely with the schnitzel and goulash as well. So that is also exciting.
So you want to introduce us to your dish? Ah, I sure do. This is one of my favorite dishes in Central Europe. Look at that. Beef goulash. And you can see here it comes with pickles as well. Yeah. And it also comes with bread dumplings. Mmmhmm.
And I remember we made the mistake in when we had goulash in the Czech Republic of eating our bread dumplings with our hands and everyone was like you guys are like barbarians. You guys are like barbarians. Apparently you are supposed to use your fork and knife. Alright. We'll use our fork and knife. I'm going to do that this time. Proper cutlery.
The meat is so tender, the sauce, the gravy is so rich and flavorful. And just having the bread compliments it really nicely too. Oh my gosh this is awesome. I think the last time we had goulash must have been in Budapest so it has been a little while.
Back to the food. So I ordered the wienerschnitzel but the classic it is supposed to be veal. Yep. But they don't have that on the menu here. They have one made with pork. Um, so yeah that is the one we ordered. It is actually a lot cheaper when you order the one with veal it costs double. Yeah.
And this was only about 10 Euros. This was about 10 Euro. The one with veal you're looking more at around 20 Euros.
That is really nice. It is a really thin cut of meat. Um, I believe the way they make it is that they dip it in like whisked eggs. Or no, first flower, whisked eggs and then breadcrumbs. And then they fry it.
So over here we have potato salad. Yeah, this one apparently is a Viennese potato salad. Viennese. Austrian potato salad. Let's try that. Yeah. And it has onions. Red onion.
price point. So that meal came to 36 Euros and 10 cents. That was for beer, for mineral water, the potato salad, the wienerschnitzel, goulash, apfelstrudel (apple strudel) for dessert. So ordered quite a bit. Yeah. We are leaving stuffed.

Viennese Food - Eating Sachertorte Cake in Vienna, Austria at Café Sacher Wien Video Transcript:
Good morning. We're here in Vienna (Wien).
We figured today we would go out for cake. Yeah. Cake is going to be our lunch so we're going to be trying the famous Sachertorte (Sacher Torte). We're going to the hotel where it originated and we'll be eating at Cafe Zacher Wien (Sacher Hotel). And it is a bit of a walk. It is a bit of a walk for sure. It is like 30 minutes according to Google Maps. Yes. So but this is our first time to explore Vienna (Wien) on foot so we're actually quite excited and yeah we'll show you a bit of the journey along the way. Now let's go earn our cake.
I went with the classic I ordered the Sachertorte so if you take a look here it has got a little chocolate seel letting you know it if the official. The original. The original. And also this little paper Sacher the original since 1832.
And if I open this they say they make they make this cake fresh every single day and you can enjoy it in Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck or in Graz.
They made the chocolate cake with apricot jam, a little bit of cream on the side. It has subtle flavors.
I ordered a iced chocolate. Iced hot chocolate (Wiener Eisschokolade mit Schlagobers). Ice chocolate. With ice cream, whipped cream and these little pralines on top. OMG. It is so good. I've already had some. In case you hadn't noticed. I think we've noticed. Haha.
It is just such a rich chocolate.
We figured we would try two different cakes. Yep. So Sam do you remember which one you got? Yes, I am trying the Liliput (Original Sacher Gewürzgugelhupf) and this is another Viennese specialty. Yeah. So why don't we have a dissection here.
So it is a ring cake with spices, ginger, candied orange. That looks so good.
Alright Mister. So for your drink he got the Wiener Melange. The wiener melange. So basically that is an espresso with milk and whipped cream. Oh la lah.
Here is the bill. Alrighty so 26 Euros total. Basically 13 per person. Yeah. And the most expensive thing that we ordered was your drink. So yeah, you obviously come here for the ambience. The experience but also the cake is delicious. I have to say and we do recommend you guys come here. And now let's go walk off all that sugar.

Viennese Café - Eating Austrian Cake and Coffee for Breakfast in Vienna, Austria Travel Food Video Transcript:
Well good morning good morning again from Vienna (Wien). It is a Monday morning and it is actually our last day in this beautiful city. It is not even our last day. It is our last hours. Last hours. We're going to be leaving in just a few hours to Bratislava but yeah. Yeah, we thought we'd show you take you guys to a more local cafe. We kind of showed you what a fancy and famous one looks like but we haven't taken you into a local one so we're going to do that today.
So the place is called Aida and it has been around since 1913 so my goodness over a 100 years. I imagine they've had plenty of time to perfect their pastries, their coffees, their cakes. So for my drink I got the Aida Melange so this is an espresso with steamed milk and whipped cream that I have since you know mixed into the cup.
Exactly. And I also ordered that too. Haha. Mmmm.
It just sounded so good. Cream. Yes, please. Yes, please.
That is quite nice. Oh, and have I mentioned everything here is pink. Yep. Everything. Everything. The menus. The cakes. The waitresses uniform. The chairs. It is all pink. Everything looks pretty in pink over here. Pretty in pink.
And so someone ordered the Schinkenröllen. So this is really neat because it is basically like a ham slice and then inside of it, it looks like it appears to be some cream cheese. Yeah. And some chives and then bread.
Mozart cake.
Alright, so for something sweet I'm just going to read it off the menu because too many ingredients. I ordered the original Mozart Torte Wien. So the original Viennese Mozart Cake. And it is described as a dark sponge filled with the finest nougat and pistachio marzipan encased in a light chocolate fondant icing.
There is a lot going on here. That sounds pretty good. I like fondant icing. That is like poetry. I like chocolate. Yeah, there is a lot of stuff you like so. Oooh. It looks thick.
Look at the filling. The filling is so thick. it is like thicker than the cake itself. Yeah.
Mmmmm.
Good stuff.
And up next Sam ordered topfenstrudel. Topfenstrudel so basically this is like strudel, a pastry with Austrian cheese in the middle. Yeah, it looks like a cream cheese. Yeah, it is basically what you'd normally have on a cheesecake kind of filling.
If you guys come here definitely get the Mozart Cake. Trust us on this one.
Time for price point at Aida. Yeah, so in terms of the price point that came to 17.30 and that was for the two coffees and the three food items. So yeah, it was definitely more affordable than some of the more touristy and famous cafes and it was just really nice. It was really cool coming on a Sunday when it was nice and relaxed outside so yeah nice way for us to end our time in Vienna (Wien) and now we're off to Bratislava. Tata.

On a spur of the moment trip, we decided to catch a train from Munich, Germany to Salzburg, Austria - which is just a 1.5 hour train ride away. We only had a few hours, so I wanted to make the most of eating Austrian food for the time we had. We also were able to walk around Salzburg and visit some famous attractions during the day.
Here’s the list of Austrian food I ate during a one day trip to Salzburg, Austria:
1. Cafe Am Kai - Cafe Am Kai is a nice trendy cafe along the river with great views. I ordered a kleiner brauner, a type of Austrian style coffee and an apple strudel. Total price - 14.40 EUR for 3 of us
2. Bärenwirt Restaurant - This is a restaurant that serves fantastic home-style Austrian food in Salzburg. To begin with I ordered frothed beer soup, which was very creamy and pretty good. I ordered my first ever wiener schnitzel in Austria, which is one of the Austrian food national dishes. Finally I had to try the Austrian käsespätzle an extremely warming and cheesey pasta dish. Price - 33.90 EUR
3. Balkan Grill Walter - Balkan Grill is known to serve the best bosna sausage, a type of Austrian food sausage that originates from Salzburg. It was honestly an amazing sausage, but I think it would have been better with some kind of sauce on it. Bosna sausage - 3.70 EUR
4. Augustiner Bräu Kloster Mülln - There’s no doubt Augustiner Bräu Kloster Mülln is the best of the best, an institution beer garden and hall in Salzburg. They serve your beer right out of the barrel, and it’s amazingly crisp. You can then walk around and order Austrian food from any number of the food stalls. Small beer - 3.10 EUR, ribs and sausage plates - 14.95 EUR, fish - 9 EUR
We then completely ran out of time and had to run to the Salzburg train station to catch our train back to Munich!
Thank you very much for watching this Austrian food tour in Salzburg!

Vienna Austria | 48 Hour Food Tour
In this video International Foodie Guide takes you on a 48 hours food tour of Vienna Austria.
Vienna is a very beautiful city and has some delicious food from their famous pastries, hearty dishes and great beer and wine too.
This video will share some excellent experience of good local food that we tasted during our 48 hours stay in Vienna, if you are also visiting Vienna then you might get some ideas on what to eat and where to eat in Vienna Austria.
For breakfast we wanted to try some of their delicious and elegantly presented Viennese cakes, on the first day we visited Cafe Central for cakes and coffee.
For lunch we wanted to taste some local dishes, below are the dishes we tried:
1. Fish with some potatoes and onions
2. Schnitzel
3. Plum Dumplings
4. Local wine
We visited Woracziczky gasthaus for lunch as it was close to the Naschmarkt that we visited too, Naschmarkt is a good place for food around the world with a street food scene.
After lunch, we went on a walking tours and in the early evening we visited Das Loft to see Vienna form high up and also to sample some locally produced Red wines, Views from there is excellent and the ambiance is fantastic too.
After the beautiful views of Vienna from sky with some excellent Red wine it was almost Dinner time so we headed straight to restaurant Labstelle for some traditional food with modern touch in a fine dining but casual ambiance.
We started day two again with some Viennese cakes and coffee at café Demel, this is a very old cafe where you can taste some delicious varieties of cases or pastries with typical coffee.
For lunch we visited a nice restaurant meierei im stadtpark in Vienna, to again taste some of their local Viennese food.
Meierei is a perfect restaurant for a relaxed Breakfast or Lunch, it is located in possibly one of the most beautiful spot in the city’s Stadtpark. This is a good restaurant for a relaxed breakfast, or to enjoy the finest Viennese Cuisine throughout the day.
For Dinner we visited a nice traditional restaurant in Vienna for some tasty Viennese food, Waldviertlerhof restaurant in Vienna is a nice traditional Viennese restaurant for traditional Austrian food in a very traditionally decorated ambiance.
You might wonder what type of food you should try in Vienna as there are many choices of traditional Austrian food and it also depends on your taste and liking, International Foodie Guide tried their smoked trout and snails for starter and wild boar and venison for the main course.
The dishes here represent true Austrian food, a lot of game and the flavors are very rich, and we also tried some of their local wine and beer to go with our dinner.
International Foodie Guide will publish a new restaurant experience every week as the tour of Europe continues, if you are interested in food and travel throughout Europe and would like to follow the tour then subscribe to the channel and click the bell icon to receive notifications of weekly video release.

My First Time in Vienna, Austria | Things to Do in Wien
My favorite things to do in Vienna (Austria) in the spring or summertime! This was my first time in Vienna (Wien) Austria, and I had 4 days there during my first solo trip to Europe, so I got to explore a bit. In this Vienna travel vlog, you'll see my top things to do in Vienna, including few cool places to visit along the Danube river, some delicious Austrian and German food, and the Vienna Naschmarkt.
If it's your first time traveling to Vienna (Wien) Austria, be sure to walk along the danube and grab some falafel at the Naschmarkt. I loved going to the Centimeter restaurant, as well!
