Fisherman's Bastion - Budapest Hungary
Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest is one of the top Budapest attractions without a doubt. The present day lovely lookout towers / decorative fortification of Fisherman’s Bastion were built in the 19th century to serve as a lookout tower for the best panoramic views in Budapest, Hungary. Needless to say, there used to be real castle walls where now you can take fantastic photos from, but the present day structure has never served as an actual fortification in Buda.

With only a short amount of time in Hungary we knew Budapest had to be the place to visit, travel and vlog. Today was exploring the Buda side of the city starting with Chain Bridge, then up to Buda Castle and further around to Fishermans Bastion.
The Chain Bridge has so many interesting stories about it's build, but we love the story of the Hungarian stunt pilot flying underneath, year before we visited in 2018.
Walking over the Chain Bridge we arrived at the base of the Buda Castle, aka Budapest Castle. There was a festival on so we couldnt get full access to the Castle grounds sadly, but the view back over the city of Budapest and the Chain Bridge made it worth it.
Further around to Fishermans Bastion we discovered the most epic little church, more views of Budapest and hundreds of people. Definitely walk the back streets of Fishermans Bastion and get lost in the little lane ways.

Fisherman's Bastion & Buda Castle | Hungary, Budapest | 2017 Summer Travel Vlog
Hey guys! Hows it going? Amy here :D :D
So glad to finally share our trip to Hungary and the United Kingdoms with you guys! I'll be splitting my vlogs (video collage) into parts, so please do check them out. You'll find the playlist link below.
In this video I'll be taking you to two of Budapest’s top attractions, Fisherman's Bastion & Buda Castle (Halászbástya & Budavári Palota). These are also my favourite places, after living there for 3 or 4 years (2010-2013), and visiting almost every Summer ever since (that's quite a lot of visits...). There are many, MANY famous attractions but we were only there for 3 days this Summer...But, as expected we had such an amazing time there, and we can't wait to go back again.
Enjoy the video!!

4K Walk - Budapest, Hungary Fisherman's Bastion next to Buda Castle
World's Street Real Life Experience - by DJI Osmo Pocket 4K
Fisherman's Bastion (or Halászbástya) is located next to Buda Castle in Castle district. It is a 19th-century fortress in white color with 7 turreted lookout towers offering panoramic views.
You need to visit Fisherman's Bastion in Budapest, Hungary ????????
Fisherman's Bastion is a great place to take an Instagram spot and an amazing place to take in the views overlooking the beautiful city of Budapest in Hungary.
The rooftop of the church in Fisherman's Bastion is an amazing, eye-catching design which you can see as soon as I start the video, walking up the stairs. Outside of the church, there's a statue in the middle of a courtyard. Around Fishermans Bastion, there are so many places for you to take Instagram photos in this wonderful tourist spot in Budapest.
The Halászbástya or Fisherman's Bastion is one of the best known monuments in Budapest, located in the Buda Castle, in the 1st district of Budapest. It is one of the most important tourist attractions due to the unique panorama of Budapest from the Neo-Romanesque lookout terraces. The Fisherman's Bastion's main façade, parallel to the Danube, is approximately 140 meters long, of which the southern aisle is about 40 meters long, the north is 65 meters long, and the ornate central parapet is 35 meters long. Its seven high-pitched stone towers symbolise the seven chieftains of the Hungarians who founded Hungary in 895.
There are many churches in Budapest, but this Budapest Church at Fisherman's Bastion is one of the main tourist spots in Budapest. You can see in the video that there are lots of people at the bastion, which overlooks Budapest and the River Danube.

Its seven high-pitched stone towers symbolize the seven chieftains of the Hungarians who founded Hungary in 895.
It was built between 1895 and 1902, in Neo-Romanesque style, on the base of a stretch of the Buda Castle walls, by architect Frigyes Schulek, who was also responsible for the restoration of the Matthias Church. Several historians say that in the Middle Ages this part of the castle walls was protected by the guild of fishermen , who lived under the walls in the so-called Fishtown.
The Church of the Assumption of the Buda Castle, more commonly known as the Matthias Church is a Roman Catholic church located in the Holy Trinity Square at the heart of Buda's Castle District. According to church tradition, it was originally built in Romanesque style in 1015, although few references exist. The current building was constructed in the florid late Gothic style in the second half of the 14th century and was extensively restored in the late 19th century. It was the second largest church of medieval Buda and the seventh largest church of the medieval Hungarian Kingdom.
Buda Castle is the historical castle and palace complex of the Hungarian kings in Budapest. It was first completed in 1265, but the massive Baroque palace today occupying most of the site was built between 1749 and 1769. The complex in the past was referred to as either the Royal Palace or the Royal Castle.

Fisherman's Bastion & Buda Castle... Gone Wrong | BUDAPEST (Hungary Travel Vlog #003)
In this video I decide to visit Buda Castle, with a short stop at Fisherman's Bastion, and Matthias Church.
It was going very well, until the temperature dropped from about -2C to -5C (which I'd been walking around in for close to 7 hours by the end), and I literally got slammed between two elevator doors, which left black bruises and swelling on both arms, which is why the video is a bit abrupt. I was in pain and sulky, but didn't want to mention it in the video.
Watch until the end for some nice visual treats to make up for the castle boo boo. I'm also back in Budapest very soon, so I can catch whatever I missed then.

Fisherman's Bastion - Budapest EDC Gunner takes you to Budapest
The Halászbástya Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈhɒlaːsbaːʃcɒ] or Fisherman's Bastion is a terrace in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style situated on the Buda bank of the Danube, on the Castle hill in Budapest, around Matthias Church. It was designed and built between 1895 and 1902 on the plans of Frigyes Schulek. Construction of the bastion destabilised the foundations of the neighbouring 13th century Dominican Church which had to be pulled down.[1] Between 1947–48, the son of Frigyes Schulek, János Schulek, conducted the other restoration project after its near destruction during World War II.
From the towers and the terrace a panoramic view exists of Danube, Margaret Island, Pest to the east and the Gellért Hill.
Its seven towers represent the seven Magyar tribes that settled in the Carpathian Basin in 896.
The Bastion takes its name from the guild of fishermen that was responsible for defending this stretch of the city walls in the Middle Ages. It is a viewing terrace, with many stairs and walking paths.
A bronze statue of Stephen I of Hungary mounted on a horse, erected in 1906, can be seen between the Bastion and the Matthias Church. The pedestal was made by Alajos Stróbl, based on the plans of Frigyes Schulek, in Neo-Romanesque style, with episodes illustrating the King's life.

Take a tour of Fisherman's Bastion in Budapest, Hungary -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Fisherman's Bastion, also known as 'The Halászbástya' lies in Budapest, Hungary on the famous Castle Hill.
A statue of the great king, Stephen I of Hungary, stands right outside the Bastion.
Frigyes Schulek is the famous Hungarian architect who designed this lovely terrace.
The structure incorporates elements from neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque styles of architecture.
According to a legend, the Bastion was used as defensive place by the fishermen to guard the Castle Hill.
The most characteristic features of this structure are the beautiful turrets and pale, white stones.
The best time to visit this monument would be a warm, sunny day when you could stroll around and take in the magnificent city views.
