Monster Sharks caught Fishing from the Beach - 4K
I was on the phone talking to my buddy Dan, who was fishing on the beach and during our conversation, he hooked up to a monster shark! I drove down to the beach to help Dan and his crew catch and release the monster shark. It turned out to be a 13ft great hammerhead shark. The following day around the same time, Dan gives me a call to let me know that Mark is hooked up to another giant shark!

Fishing for Blacktip Sharks during the Migration:
Cape Cod whale numbers are up, delighting watchers
Last year, NOAA researcher Dave Wiley says he didn't see any whales off Cape Cod. Now, they're everywhere. Researchers enlisted the help of unlikely cameramen to learn more about the source of the increase. Vinita Nair reports.
Australia '15
I had three weeks in Australia, so I decided to use this time to try to explore some of the east coast of Australia. Considering Australia is almost the size of the United States, this was probably one of my more jam-packed trips that I’ve had. I’ve also never spent so much money in one country before, but luckily our US dollar is strong against the AUS dollar at the moment.
Melbourne - Cairns - Cape Tribulation - Airlie Beach - Whitsunday Islands - Fraser Island - Byron Bay - Sydney
Melbourne: A city definitely in my top three list of favorite cities in the world. Melbourne seems to be a mixing pot of everything awesome that I’ve seen from all the cities that I’ve been to. Unique architecture (European/artsy/modern), friendly locals, diversity in delicious food (especially Asian), great music scene, amazing street art scattered all over, cool laneways that lead you to special bars/cafes, laidback vibe (similar to San Francisco), a beach nearby, festivals of all sorts, and more. I’ve never felt more at home in a city abroad than I did with Melbourne. Other Highlights: Staying at Base Backpackers St. Kilda, Free Walking Tour, artsy laneways (Hosier Lane, AC/DC Lane), laneway bars (Section 8, Berlin Bar, Croft Institute), St. Kilda, CBD, restaurants on Brunswick St (Naked for Satan, Bimbo Deluxe, Rice Queen), Southbank, hanging out with my cousin Long
Cairns: Cairns is a very touristy city that doesn’t really have too much in it, but is a gateway city to other tourist attractions such as waterfalls, Cape Tribulation, and the Great Barrier Reef. Highlights: Staying at Gilligan’s (the biggest party hostel I’ve ever been to), Esplanade Lagoon, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, mass of giant bats flying out of trees at dawn, random chats with local hippies
Cape Tribulation: I went on a two day excursion from Cairns to Cape Tribulation; an area where the Daintree Rainforest (oldest rainforest in the world) meets the Great Barrier Reef. I stayed a night at a cabin in the rainforest, which was an interesting experience. Saw a baby scorpion in the shower, a snake on the pathway at night, and giant spiders everywhere. Highlights: Mossman Gorge, walking through the Daintree Rainforest, finding a rare cassowary in the wild, meeting an Aboriginal, bonfire by the beach, eating kangaroo at the hostel, crocodile watching down the Diantree River (only saw a baby one though)
Airlie Beach: Another very touristy town filled with backpackers, but was mainly used as a gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. Highlights: Staying at Backpackers by the Bay, eating kangaroo and crocodile, Airlie Beach Lagoon, Mama Africa Bar
Whitsunday Islands: Went on a three day sailing trip on a badass boat (the Kiana) around the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. One of the main attractions in Whitsunday is Whitehaven Beach, which is definitely one of the most scenic beaches that I’ve been to. Also, I got to scuba dive twice in the Great Barrier Reef, 12 meters deep. Crazy to see all the sea life (fishes, clams, sharks, etc.) surrounding the huge coral that are the size of buildings. Other Highlights: delicious meals on the boat, relaxing on the deck, seeing all the stars after the sun sets and before the moon rises (ps. underwater pictures were taken by the Kiana staff)
Fraser Island: Mainly known as the largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island also has the most random combination of terrain in one location that I’ve seen. I took a two day excursion to explore this island. Highlights: Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, Lake Wabby, Champagne Pool, Maheno Shipwreck
Byron Bay: Considered to be more of the hippy beach town of the Australia’s east coast. Definitely felt like Thailand’s Pai or Hawaii’s Paia, which is a good thing. I really like the laidback vibe here and all the locals were super chill. Highlights: Staying at Cape Byron YHA, Earthcore Festival, Pass Beach, sunset by the lighthouse, seeing kangaroos hopping around a cliff
Sydney: Didn’t get to spend as much time in Sydney as I wanted (3 nights), but it’s a nice city overall. The city seemed more “clean-cut” than Melbourne, but also less “hip”. It does have nicer beaches, prettier scenery, and probably a better party scene though. Highlights: Staying at the Bounce Hostel, Free walking tour, Opera House, the scenic walk from Bondai Beach to Coogee, hermit crab racing at Scubar, Surry Hills, Soda Factory (speakeasy with vending machine door), Shady Pines Saloon
Race Point Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA

WEST BANK/GAZA: US ENVOY DENNIS ROSS VISIT
English/Nat
The U-S peace envoy to the Middle East Dennis Ross met the Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat in Jericho on the West Bank on Wednesday.
This follows the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat accepting a U-S proposal to withdraw Israeli troops from the West Bank.
But in line with his increasing defiance, the Israeli Prime Minister said such an arrangement would be detrimental to Israel's security.
Ross has an uphill battle to pave the way for a successful meeting next week in London between U-S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
Meanwhile in Gaza, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was meeting Egyptian Foreign Minister, Amr Moussa where both men called upon the Israelis to take a more flexible approach to U-S proposals for a staged withdrawal of Israeli troops from the West Bank.
U-S Mideast envoy, Dennis Ross set out once again to breach the divide between Israel and the Palestinians on Wednesday meeting the Palestinian's chief negotiator in Jericho.
He emphasised the urgency of rebuilding trust between the two sides prior to their meeting for peace talks with U-S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in London next week.
There has been speculation in the media that the United States might call off the London talks if Ross fails to narrow the gap between the two sides.
But Ross did his best to sound optimistic.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
May 4th is an important date, because it also reminds us that we have one year left before the end of the interim period. And I think it is essential that we find a way to break through, not only because we've had a stalemate for too long, but also because we've got to begin to restore hope, we've got to begin to restore a sense of possibility. We have to reestablish the kind of communication between the parties that allows them again to know that they can solve problems together.
SUPER CAPTION: Dennis Ross, U-S Mideast Envoy
Meanwhile, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat met the Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa in Gaza on Wednesday.
Moussa was in Gaza to sign economic agreements, but took the opportunity to criticise the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's intransigence.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It doesn't stand a chance when you discuss it objectively and substantively, that he is ready to stand against the whole world - this is absolute nonsense - This is irresponsibility
SUPER CAPTION: Amr Moussa, Egyptian Foreign Minister
Netanyahu's has been increasingly defiant in his attitude towards the peace process.
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat on Wednesday accepted a U-S proposal to withdraw Israeli troops from the West Bank.
However, in accepting the American proposal Wednesday, Arafat warned that he would not make further concessions on the pullout.
But Netanyahu said it would compromise Israel's security.
Arafat demanded that the Israeli Prime Minister take a more flexible approach.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
He has to remember, I mean Mr. Netanyahu, that he went with Shamir to Madrid on the platform of land for peace, and not the excuses of security which he uses only to stop and not to implement accurately and honestly what had been signed and what had been agreed upon.
SUPER CAPTION: Yasser Arafat, Palestinian leader
Arafat said the Palestinians had accepted Washington's plan - even though the proposed 13 percent withdrawal falls short of the 30 percent of the West Bank they wanted.
