Overnight Cruise in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
Today we sleepover at one of Vietnam's hottest destinations: Ha Long Bay. We take the overnight cruise and sail through its limestone islands. During the day our activities include kayaking, visiting the Thien Cung Cave, rowing by floating houses, and Vietnamese cooking lessons. In the evening we wine and dine, then go squid-fishing. No catch, but it's a way to mingle with other passengers! Watch the video to see the action unfold :)

Halong Bay Luxury Cruise | Signature Cruise
This Halong Bay Luxury Cruise was made possible by:
If you’ve never been to Halong Bay, you need to add taking a luxury cruise through Halong Bay to your bucket list! Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a good reason. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen! It’s filled with giant lime stone karsts that jut out of the water in every direction for miles.
The best way to experience the bay is by a luxury cruise. There are tons of cruise ship operators offering cruises through Halong Bay. The cruises range from cheap backpack boats to five start luxury cruise ships. Since visiting Halong Bay is most likely a once in a lifetime experience, we decided to splurge on a 5 star luxury cruise to ensure that we had the best experience possible!
We booked our cruise with Signature Cruise and we were elated with our experience. Seriously, we don’t have a bad thing to say about Signature Cruises, and that should mean a lot coming from me because when I splurge on an experience I am very critical. Also, the staff treated us like royalty! They made our experience even better.
Our luxurious cruise through Halong Bay started with an amazing lunch served while we were cruising to a floating fishing village. After arriving at the floating village we were rowed around the village in a row boat by one of the women who lived in the floating village. After our row boat ride was completed, we visited a pearl farm to learn how pearls are made. To be completely honest, this sounded kind of lame to me when I read it on the itinerary, but it was actually really interesting!
After leaving the pearl farm, we were taken back to the cruise ship. After an hour or so of relaxing and taking in the beautiful views of Halong Bay, we had a cooking class where we learned to make fresh spring rolls. After the cooking class we enjoyed happy hour with more beautiful views. After happy hour, a delicious five course dinner was served aboard the boat. After dinner I had the opportunity to try my hand at squid fishing. I got really lucky and managed to catch 10!

Family Boat Tour ????️ Cát Bà Island in Halong Bay, Vietnam ???????? The Walk Around the World Travel Vlog
Amazing boat tour with family near Cát Bà Island in Halong Bay, Vietnam. Travel vlog recorded on October 23, 2018.
????️
Cát Bà Island is the largest of the 367 islands spanning 260 km2 (100 sq mi) that comprise the Cat Ba Archipelago, which makes up the southeastern edge of Lan Ha Bay in Northern Vietnam. Cat Ba island has a surface area of 285 km2 (110 sq mi) and maintains the dramatic and rugged features of Ha Long Bay.
????️
It is commonly used as an overnight hotel stop on tours to Ha Long Bay run by travel agents from Hanoi. This island belongs to Haiphong city.
????️
Cat Ba is the largest island in the Bay and approximately half of its area is covered by a National Park, which is home to the highly endangered Cat Ba langur. The island has a wide variety of natural ecosystems, both marine and terrestrial, leading to incredibly high rates of biodiversity. Types of natural habitats found on Cat Ba Archipelago include limestone karsts, tropical limestone forests, coral reefs, mangrove and sea grass beds, lagoons, beaches, caves and willow swamp forests.
????️
Cat Ba Island is one of the only populated islands in Ha Long Bay, with roughly 13,000 inhabitants living in six different communes, and 4,000 more inhabitants living on floating fishing villages off the coast. The large majority of the population can be found in Cat Ba town, which is located at the southern tip of the Island (15 km (9 mi) south of the national park) and is the commercial center on the Island. Since 1997, Cat Ba town has grown rapidly and has become a tourist hub for both the Island and greater Ha Long Bay. In addition, almost all areas of the island are deployed with free wifi access points as well as 3.75 generation mobile networks, which can make visiting and working on the island easier.
????️
Cat Ba Historical name called Cac Ba Island means Women’s Island (Cac meaning all and Ba meaning women). Legend has it that many centuries ago, three women of the Tran Dynasty were killed and their bodies floated all the way to Cat Ba Island. Each body washed up on a different beach and all three were found by local fishermen. The residents of Cat Ba built a temple for each woman, and the island soon became known as Cat Ba.
????️
Archaeological evidence suggests that people have lived on Cat Ba Island for almost 6,000 years, with the earliest settlements being found on the southeastern tip of the Island close to the area where Ban Beo harbour sits today. In 1938, a group of French archaeologists discovered human remains belonging to the Cai Beo people of the Ha Long culture, which lived between 4,000 and 6,500 years ago… considered to be perhaps the first population group occupying the northeastern territorial waters of Vietnam… [and] the Cai Beo people may be an intermediary link between the population strata at the end of the Neolithic Age, some 4,000 years ago.
????️
Cat Ba Island has become the adventure-tourism capital of Vietnam, and many of the activities advertised are nature-based. Visitors can kayak and take boat cruises through Ha Long Bay and the Cat Ba Archipelago, hike through the national park, mountain bike around the Island, spend time hiking and swimming on Monkey Island just offshore, tourist can stay at Monkey Island Resort for real relax time on private beach, explore the Island's many caves, swim on Cat Co 1, 2, or 3 (three sandy beaches a short walk from Cat Ba town), or even go rock climbing and deep water soloing on the limestone karsts in Lan Ha Bay. With so many things to do, Cat Ba Island is slowly gaining popularity as an alternative to the crowded Ha Long Bay Town.
????️
Sailing through Ha Long Bay is not only a fascinating experience, but is an adventure as well. Our sail boats take you to remote parts of the Bay and ensure you experience its tranquility away from the crowds of other tourist boats. Setting sail, lounging on the deck and having a quiet beer, while we take you to lagoons, untouched beaches, and amazing caves – what could be better? If needed, our sail boats are equipped with motors to take you anywhere, even on still days.
The calm emerald waters of Ha Long Bay are best explored by kayak. Cat Ba Ventures has a range of tours suited to beginners through to experienced paddlers. This exciting getaway combines the perfect amount of physical activity and relaxation. Exploring rock arch, hidden lagoons, and floating fishing villages, you’ll meet locals and discover a side of mystical this World Heritage Site that you can’t get from a tourist boat.
There are now hundreds of tour agencies in Ha Long Bay and Hanoi that offer everything from budget half or full day trips, to booze cruises, all the way through to five-star luxury multi-day Ha Long Bay tours.

MEKONG DELTA VIETNAM - Saigon Day Trip
We experienced local life along the Mekong Delta Vietnam for our last day in Saigon. We show you the best Saigon day trip that Vietnam has to offer, traveling by boat down the Mekong Delta and exploring a local Vietnam village along the way.
Our trip to the Mekong Delta Vietnam started with a 2 hour luxury van ride to a town called My Tho. Although we don’t normally take public tours, we arranged a small 6 person group tour with Vietnam Adventure Tours. Once we arrived in My Tho, we boarded a private boat to set sail down the Mekong Delta River. The 15 minute boat ride took us across the Mekong river to unicorn island where we explored a tourist area set up to mimic a traditional Vietnam Village. The activities on this island include: Bee Farm and Honey Tasting, Snake Holding, Coconut Candy Production, Chocolate Production, Snake Wine, and a Fruit Farm with traditional Mekong Delta music.
Next we got back on the Vietnam boat tour down the Mekong Delta to visit the area of Ben Tre. This is where we got to see a side of a more authentic Vietnam by boating down the river in a small sampan boat. This is one of the best things to do in Vietnam because you get to experience a world away from all development. We wish this part of the Mekong river tour was longer, as the small sampan boat ride was only 15 minutes long.
Next up on the Mekong Delta Tour was lunch which was included in our tour and very delicious. We were served a variety of Vietnamese food including fish, spring rolls, soup, rice, morning glory and prawns. The Vietnamese lunch was absolutely delicious!
When visiting Saigon Vietnam, we highly recommend you put a Mekong Delta Tour on your list of must do activities. Out of all the things to do in Saigon, this was one of our favorites! A quick 2 hour Saigon day trip away seems like a completely separate world apart from the hustle of Ho Chi Minh City.
If you’re interested in booking one of the best tours in Saigon, contact Vietnam Adventure Tours and request Van as your tour guide! The tour you see is the VIP Mekong Delta Tour with a luxury 7 person limo. Most Mekong tours start from $15 USD and go up to $80 USD for a public tour, and private tours are $80 USD per person and up. We hope you enjoyed our trip down the Vietnam Mekong Delta and if you have any questions please leave us a comment! We’d love to hear about your Vietnam travel or plans to visit the area.

The unique Halong Bay in Vietnam
In 2006 I went to Vietnam to discover a 17 days' tour of Vietnam program.
What normally is done in 17 days I had to do in just one week.
Hanoi, Hue, Nathrang, Hoi An, Que Nhon, Da Nang (Hoi Van) and at the end Ho Chi Minh. Hotels viewed restaurants viewed and tested where possible. Run and another run.
What I learned is this:
1. It is almost impossible to go across the road from North to South. So, from Hanoi to Hue, about 700 km we went by airplane.
2. Because of the length of the country, there are large differences in climate. It may be cold north and south very hot. So advice, always from North to South (from cold to hot). Also, the last stage to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) we did by plane, because the roads were of inferior quality.
Meat in Vietnam is expensive so there is often fish on the program. Nothing wrong with that but I do not like to eat fish (bones ... yuck). In Nathrang I always bought a French baguette (they very well know how to make that) and a pot Pâté and spoiled me with that.
Of all the tours in our program, one was sticking out for me above the rest and that is Halong Bay.
Departure around 08.00 per coach from Hanoi and then, with some nice stops (pineapple taste) you will arrive around noon at the port of Halong Bay. Always very busy but it was never disturbing. There are one-day programs available, but in my opinion you do not want a whole morning on a coach for only a boat ride of just a few hours. Advice from an expert (I can still say), take a first class boat and stay one night at the boat at sea. Then you have plenty of time to make the trips as shown in the video
Vietnam tour, Halong Bay is a must. After having done this program several times, this program still fascinate us.

The Five Best Cruise Trips of Halong Bay Vietnam, travel by Cruise at Halong Bay Vietnam
Even when you have not yet visited Halong Bay, you can easily realize how many cruises there are on the Bay. The fifty some posted elsewhere online does not speak it all: there are as many as four hundred vessels running daily. It cannot be denied that the best way to visit the myriad of islets and grottos is by a cruise, but choosing one can be a daunting tasks: so many prices, so many pictures and so many itineraries. We are suggesting below some of the best options for a Halong Bay Cruise:
BEST LUXURY CRUISE: PARADISE CRUISE
If you are looking for an ultimate luxurious cruise around Halong Bay, Paradise Cruise (including Paradise Luxury, Paradise Peak and Paradise Privilege) is top of chart in every aspect. At first glance, the cruise is not only aesthetically appealing but it also has amazing amenities fitted for royalties. The cabins are spacious and spotlessly clean. It is well worth the money to upgrade to a cabin with a lovely private balcony so you can chill and enjoy the view. The staffs are attentive and welcoming. Besides the superb fresh seafood platters on board, there are unlimited Vietnamese dishes and a cooking demonstration for you to try.
The unique 3 sails cruise and the excellent service set Paradise Luxury Cruise one class above many other operating cruises in the bay. By spending $200/pax for a 2 day-1night, you will definitely be satisfied with your stay on board while visiting the magnificent Halong Bay.
BEST DAY CRUISE: EMERAUDE DAY CRUISE
Emeraude day cruise Emeraude Cruise has a rather different take on the appearance as it models the French paddle steamer, probably reflecting the origin of the French owner. This different interpretation from Chinese junk of other boats makes cruising around Halong Bay a wholly unique experience, especially when you only spend 1 day on board. With the short visiting time, the cruise will take you to the finest and widest grotto: Surprise Grotto. The hanging stalactites form various bizarre but also intriguing shapes. After that, Hang Trong cave is next in the destination list where you can go kayaking or take a refreshing swim.
Considering the long drive to and from the pier, a one day trip at Halong Bay is probably less satisfying comparing with longer package. This may make you feel like being rushed to destinations all the time. However, the great service and amenities by Emeraude cruise will compensate to it.
BEST VALUE CRUISE: GLORY CRUISE
There is probably no other cruise that can match up with Glory Cruise at the price that it is offering its service. At approximately $110 (or even lower during promotion period), the cruise takes you to fishing village where you can see no busy traffic or high rise building. Instead, the fishermen amaze you with their traditional cultures and daily activities, carrying out mostly on herds of boats and rafts. You can choose to take part in the on board cooking class or discovering Bat Cave by kayaking. The night can be spent relaxing at the bar or squid fishing on the deck. There is also a visit to Sung Sot cave on the cruise itinerary.
While bringing you to popular Halong Bay destinations on a budget, the cruise food can get repetitive and the range of extra services is limited. However, this cruise is perfect for those who want to experience the wonder of Halong Bay without the additional cost of unnecessary frills.
BEST ITINERARY: DRAGON PEARL JUNK (by Indochina Junk)
Halong Bay is congested with many kinds of cruises that sometimes your precious time is wasted waiting for your cruise turn to visit a site. That kind of poor planning is not the case at Dragon Pearl Junk. It has the best program that plans to a tee to make sure you can visit many attractions but also have plenty of time to just chill at the bay. The boat anchors in a secluded area that you can freely gaze at the sky line without being blocked by other junks. You can also enjoy a relaxing swim at an exclusive beach and a fabulous dinner in a cave.
The staffs are courteous when helping the tourists. All meals are served with excellent standard; even those prepared on short notice for special dieters. Drinks are appropriately priced.
BEST NON-WOODEN CRUISE: AU CO CRUISE
Although most of the junks and cruises are made from wood (or most of their body are from wood) there are some larger vessel made of steel like a cruise one normally see. The advantage of these cruises are that they are larger with more facilities, bigger cabins and provides more stability while sailing.
