For Fun things to do in Aberdeen, Scotland see here:
During our MONTH IN SCOTLAND we did a LOT of family activities. In 10 Things to Do on your Family Trip to Inverness, Scotland - Capital of the Scottish Highlands we show you just some of the things to do at Inverness. Most lists focus on the day trips from Inverness you can take around the little city near Loch Ness. And there are a lot of things to do in the area, but we wanted to focus on the city itself. It's a charming, rather small, city on the Ness river where it flows into the Moray Firth. It's leafy and green in the summer and I think one of our favorite things was just walking along the river. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Your first stop is at Inverness Castle which provides a great view and is a great place for things to do Inverness. We hope you will enjoy these fun family activities, most of which are free, and let us know on the website, instagram, or facebook all the things we missed.

Road Trips in Scotland - Beauly to Inverness Part 1
Part 1 of a beautiful run from Beauly to Inverness in the Scottish Highlands on the A862 - a road that has been somewhat forgotten since all the through traffic now goes north/south via the A9 on the Kessock Bridge.
Scrabster - Charter Boat Fishing
Scrabster on the Pentland Firth is mainland Britain's most northerly port. Britain's most northerly point Dunnet Head marks the eastern boundary to the bay that the town sits in. The tide can be fierce in these parts, and conditions can get wild to say the least when the wind gets up. But the fishing is not that difficult close inshore, which incidentally is where the majority of the pollack, ling and cod are found. This film records a typical day with skipper Davy Benson aboard the boat Karen.

My Town Gurus Guide to Inverness, Florida
Welcome to this virtual tour of Inverness Florida presented by the Official Town Guru Geri Gaughler, of ERA American Realty.
Come learn what 7347 residents already know, that Inverness is Small Town Done Right!
Inverness was founded in 1868 and named Thompkinsville after Alfred Thompkins, a Civil War vet who built Citrus counties first saw mill. The area was sold shortly after to a Jacksonville firm and was renamed Inverness after a village in Scotland. The clocktower and courthouse became the center of town when built in 1912 and in 1961 a key part of Elvis Presleys movie “Follow that Dream” was filmed there. Today, it is a desirable place for families, retirees, and anyone that wants to live in a beautiful paradise.
Historic Beautiful Downtown
The downtown has distinct landmarks including the Copper cupula and clocktower at the 1912 Courthouse and The marquee at the Valerie theatre
Shopping is abundant with something for everyone. The downtown offers a plethora of food choices for the foodie to the family. Options include European options, savory seafood, Italian restaurants, gourmet cupcakes, fabulous pizza, farm to table options, barbecue, traditional south comfort foods, wineries, pubs, and ice cream.
Outdoor activities
Outdoor activities include Watersports, Fishing, golfing, horseback riding, exercise of all kinds, canoeing, paddle boarding, camping bird watching, and so much more.
There are over 30 community events each year including festivals, concerts, performing arts, and shows. The signature Cooter Festival was featured on the Daily Show. The Cooter turtle races are something you just won’t want to miss.
The Withlacoochee State trail provides 46 miles of trails perfect for exercise, horseback riding, and exploring the beautiful terrain.
Whispering Pines Park provides 290 acres and plenty of activities from swimming, baseball fields, a splash pad, and much more making it perfect for a day with the family.
Cooter Pond Park’s boardwalk is a perfect place for a picnic and the town offers many more opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors!
Schools
Citrus county school district is one of the finest in Florida. It has been rated a high performance school district 8 years in a row. Students receive an excellent education that prepares them for college.
Withlacoohee Technical school provides great hands on training for careers that are in demand.
Real Estate
Inverness maintains its small town values and respect for it’s past while serving the needs of its current and future residents. Inverness offers a variety of living options for its residents including several distinct yet different neighborhoods, lakefront living, sprawling southern style homes, upscale housing developments, and more.

Beauly priory. Inverness-shire
Beauly Priory was a Valliscaullian monastic community located at Insula de Achenbady now Beauly, Inverness-shire. it was probably founded in 1230. It is not known for certain who the founder was, different sources giving Alexander 11 of Scotland, John Byset, and both.
The French monks, along with Bisset (a nearby, recently settled landowner), had a strong enough French-speaking presence to give the location and the river the name beau lieu (beautiful place) and have it pass into English. It is not the best documented abbey, and few of the priors of Beauly are known by name until the 14th century. It became Cistercian on April 16th, 1510, after the suppression of the Valliscaulian Order by the Pope. The priory was gradually secularized, and ruled by a series of commendators. The priory's lands were given over to the bishop of Ross by royal charter on October 20, 1634. The ruins today are still extensive and are one of the main visitor attractions in Inverness-shire.
