Day trip to Capri in a rubber boat from Marina della Lobra
We holidayed near Sorrento, Italy, at Massa Lubrense overlooking the Gulf of Napoli. We took a rubber boat on hire (25 euro ea) from the nearby fishing village of Marina della Lobra to travel the 10 km distance by sea to Isola di Capri.
The weather was fine and hot if a little hazy caused by nearby scrub fires (though this made for spectacular and memorable sunsets earlier in the week as we ate good food and drank good wine on the terrace of our villa each evening in Massa Lubrense).
After landing on the island we walked to the top of Monte Tiberio where lay the ruins of Villa Jovis reputably built for and occupied by Emporer Tiberious.(capri.com/en/villa-jovis). The return walk to Marina Grande took us along the southern coast, fortunately offering an often shady walk with spectacular land and sea-scapes, and beautiful colours. It was a hot day but good exercise and thoroughly rewarding with an exciting boat ride.
