The Nosara area is so good for fishing due to the 600-foot ledge bending in towards the beach. This underwater alley brings the blue water and its species of fish very close to the beach. This also holds the blue water species of fish in the Nosara area for the greater part of the year.

This close proximity to the blue water shortens travel time keeps our rates low. Also virtually none of your fishing time is wasted in transit...you can fish all day! This fertile fishing ground has little commercial pressure and the prevailing ocean currents brings lots of bait fish to the area.

While most of the other sport fishing boats out are making the 50 mile run from Los Suenos to the South or 40 miles out of Flamingo and Tamarindo to get to the deep water, we are about 6 miles from the best fishing in Costa Rica. These factors give you the angling experience of a lifetime at a reasonable cost with FishingNosara.

Q - What is FishingNosara's mission in Costa Rica?

A - To dispel the myth that Costa Rican fishing only consists of unsafe boats, shady crews, and poor tackle. FishingNosara is made up of professional crews with decades of experience on the water and provides them with cutting-edge equipment, tackle, and logistical support.

It is our goal to provide our clients with the fishing trip of a lifetime at an economical price. Furthermore we are the only charter fishing company in the area to provide office services, logistical support, and family-style service on shore as well as on the boat.

Q - Why use FishingNosara?

A - First off, we feature the most experienced local Captains in the area. Also our on-shore support staff is here to help you get all the proper information you need to make the correct choice of boat and Captain, process your paperwork, and pay in a safe and secure manner.

Our staff can support you in Costa Rica with transportation, supplies, and last-minute problem solving. Finally, our service continues after you're return to shore...our staff can recommend local restaurants, lodging arrangements, and other attractions, plus provide transportation to and from the airports.

Q - How do I book a trip ?

A - Contact Craig at (904) 591-2161 or email craig@fishingnosara.com and be ready with your prospective fishing dates, length of trip, number of anglers, and boat choice.

$200 deposit per fishing day required to book.

Q - What about life jackets and other safety equipment?

A - All FishingNosara vessels are equipped with adult life jackets for all anglers and crew. Please make arrangements in our CR office for a children's size life jacket if necessary. In addition, all boats are equipped with radios, cell phones, flares, life-saving throw devices and all other required safety equipment. All boats are registered and certified seaworthy by the Office of the Costa Rican Harbor Master.

Q - Do I have to be strong to catch a Marlin?

A - No, very little strength is needed as long as you have the proper tackle, equipment, and crew; that's why you came to us, right? You must be able to sustain the fight for up to 25 minutes, but the Captain and rew can provide small rest periods through their boat-handling skills throughout the fight. You will be amazed how quickly you can catch the fish of a lifetime.

Q - How long does a marlin fight last?

A - On boats that know how to catch marlin, surprisingly short. The marlin battle consists of three elements: angler, tackle and boat. When all three are dialed-in the fight is over very quickly which ensures the safety of both the angler and the fish. A long fight stresses the fish and increases the risk of injury; We attempt to live release ALL Marlin and Sailfish, so the right tackle and tactics are essential.

Panga Fishing in Costa Rica

I head out with the girls to fish with Ronni Zapata and his brother on their 25ft Panga. I start out at the hotel, La Foresta, with a big Costa Rican breakfast. I take a stroll through the jungle behind the hotel and run into some white faced monkeys, spider monkeys and a sloth. We meet Ronni in Quepos and head out for some bait. We filled the live well and start trolling around the rocks. We end up catching two giant needlefish. After fishing we explore Quepos, drinking Imperials and road marching from el Wagon to the beach and end up at el Marlin. Pura Vida!

The genesis of The Harvester Project was in the success of our 26-foot Super Panga Explorer. The combination of a big-bow panga hull with a single Yamaha motor has proven unbeatable for fishing in our stretch of ocean.

As her legend grew, we began to wonder what the Explorer would be like if it was just as big as the Wanderer and Discoverer. The 32-foot Eduardono Corvina hull is exactly what we are looking for: strong, light, and proven to last in rough conditions.

The Harvester was completed in November 2015 and after a two month shakedown was delivered to Garza on January 17, 2016. Captain Alex has the Mega Panga primed to shatter expectations on Costa Rica's newest fish-fighting weapon.

Going to Costa Rica and thinking about chartering a fishing boat for you and your family or friends?
You might have asked yourself already if you need a fishing license in Costa Rica to go out fishing. Well... Yes, the INCOPESCA requires you to have purchased one before you start with your trip. This is the Costa Rica Fisheries Institute that regulates the fishing activities in the entire country.
At the bigger marinas as for example Pez Vela in Quepos or the Los Suenos marina, there are representatives of INCOPESCA right there to provide the license to you. The captain and crew, if necessary, can also point you in the right direction. Get a license, get onboard and have fun!
