Sooke, BC Halibut Fishing
We took a day charter trip with Sooke Coastal Fishing Charters to target Halibut and they didn't disappoint.
We were about a 15 minute boat ride from the docks in Sooke to the fishing grounds where we caught the two Halibut. One was about 15 lbs and the other about 25 lbs,
The sun was out full force and so was the wind and waves. but that didn't stop us from having a blast jigging for halibut.
We each walked away with enough Halibut to last us quite some time. Thank you Sooke Coastal Fishing Charters for a great day of Halibut Fishing.

Things to do in Sooke, BC
I was fortunate to have two members of my family come out to visit us from Ontario this past month, my dad and my uncle. My father has been out here before, but my uncle had not, so I wanted to pull out all the stops and make sure he had the time of his life.
We ended up doing more than what you see on this video, but I think these clips top the highlights for them both.
I'd like to thank the following companies for giving us a fantastic time.

Fishing BC Presents: Exploring Sooke with Vancouver Island Lodge
Ryan Chamberland fishes the oceans and tidal pools near Sooke nearly 160 days a year, both for himself and with clients who come to the small community near Victoria, B.C. in search of wild experiences.
In Sooke, located on the west side of Vancouver Island just above Victoria, it’s possible to catch chinook salmon within 10 minutes of leaving the dock. As well, there are whales to watch and halibut to pursue, all in a quiet ocean cove that feels like you are “away from everything.”
“That’s the experience I like to provide for my guests,” he says.
The quality of the fishing is something that guests will never forget.
“I never get tired of it. When the rod goes off, the heart gets pumping. It’s amazing.”
The beaches near Sooke, BC in one day
We visit as many beaches as we can in one day, and take lots of aerial drone footage and time-lap shots. Located from Sooke to Shirley near Victoria B.C.
Some of the beaches we made it to were China Beach, French Beach, Sandcut Beach, Jordon river Mystic Beach and Aylard Farm

Fishing BC Presents: Vancouver Fishing Charters with Pacific Angler
From urban culture to the wilds of the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver has it all ‘Like stepping back in time’
The beauty of B.C. is that few places are far from the ocean and salmon. Vancouver is no different, and visitors to the province’s largest city have the chance to experience the best of urban culture and wild sport fishing in a one-stop destination.
Jason Tonelli developed his love for fishing with his family — his grandfather taught him to fish for trout on B.C.’s interior lakes — and his business is a family experience as well. He operates Pacific Angler with others in his family, including his sister. His team of guides also becomes part of the family, making the experience of going to work more vacation than chore.
His boats and guides prowl the straights and islands off the southern coast, connecting anglers to the millions of migrating salmon that pass by en route to the rivers of their birth.
“Within five to 25 minutes of leaving the City of Vancouver, it’s like stepping back in time. What a great place to carry out the passion of fishing,” he says.

2 Reel Fishing Adventures - Sooke, British Columbia
We went out for a full day of Chinook (King, Spring) Salmon fishing with 2 Reel Fishing Charters.
We can't explain how much fun we had with them and fishing guide Ron Neitsch. Leaving the docks at Sooke Harbour Resort and Marina, early in the morning, we arrived at the fishing grounds 10 minutes later. The water was nice and calm, something not unusual in this area. No ground swells and large rollers like the open ocean.
We spent a full day with 4 large Salmon on the gear but only 1 in the boat. I can tell you though that the fun is with the fish on, getting them to the boat is ideal, but it's certainly not disappointing.
The battles lasted anywhere from 3-8 minutes. The fight is intense and physical.
It was a blast. I will do it again with 2 Reel Fishing Adventures in Sooke, BC. Located on Vancouver Island, just a 45 minute drive from downtown Victoria, BC.

The Sooke Saltwater Series
Another great adventure competing in the 2017 Sooke Saltwater Halibut Derby. With no fish landed on the first day (spirits low) we decided to venture further out to new fishing grounds. The move paid off and we now have a Halibut filmed being caught on a drone. A dicey double header nearly took us out as both lines crossed forcing Ron Neitsch to hand-line a 20lbs Halibut. With both fish safely in the boat and third to follow, we were able to get the much needed points to stay within reach. We met some great fishermen out there and it seems like winning this this thing is not going to be easy. Looking forward to racking up more points in the fall. Stay so tuned for more action.
