Milk and Water I 2019
Simultaneously striving for and reflecting on the elusive nature of objectivity in documentary filmmaking, Milk and Water explores the contentious issue of waterway contamination in New Zealand from the outside American perspective of director Ian Spilman. Throughout the film, we hear from those on opposing sides of the rural/urban divide on this topic, providing a space for the contemplation of conflicting ideas, and seeking common ground. This film explores innovative farming technologies, the growing divide between urban and rural communities, the detrimental and positive effects of agricultural irrigation, how regulation plays a massively influential role on river health, and reveals the personal stories of the individuals closely involved.

Dark Green Quentel ESV by Schuyler
This ESV is a handsome edition indeed. Schuyler’s artistry with Jongbloed’s workmanship are evident from front to back cover.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT
Before I begin let me thank Evangelical Bible for giving me the opportunity to review this copy of the Quentel ESV. Without their generous assistance I would not have been able to to bring this review to y’all. Thanks Beth!
1. In person the green is very close to a military olive drab color. Very reminiscent of the classic golden age of US uniforms. I like it very much that it is quite a bit different from the green in my Canterbury calfskin I once owned which was to me a true forest green.
2. I didn’t just turn the cover but more like flopped the cover over. The leather is unbelievable on this ESV. I’ve held a Goatskin Canterbury and that was remarkably but some how some way the Quentel leather is more supple. Perhaps it had to do with the specific cut of leather...I don’t know.
3. The paper brought me back to the excited feeling of opening my first Canterbury for the first time. Same smoothness to the touch. Just off white. The art gilt page edges have become synonymous with Schuyler’s brand of artistry thanks to Royal Jongbloed.
4. Is there a way to describe the Bible smell? It’s leather! The combination of natural goatskin and chemical dye treatments make it uniquely distinguished from any other kind of leather and worth counting as a positive.
5. The font is Milo. It’s tall. It’s slender. If I can associate it with a celebrity entertainer I would say it’s like the Taylor Swift of fonts. Not a person I care about but she was a better choice than Julia Roberts for this metaphorical comparison.
6. For a bible of its stature it’s highly portable. This needs to be on your lap not just during church but anywhere you can read God’s awesome word.
WHAT I DON’T LIKE ABOUT IT
1. While I’m a big fan of note taking paper there just was not enough of it in this or all of the Quentel and Canterbury lines. I would easily surrender all the concordance for more note pages.
2. Speaking of concordances. I don’t like concordances in most bibles except perhaps the Allan encyclopedic concordance.
THE TAKE AWAY
This Quentel like the Canterbury is a valiant effort of beauty. I suspect which ever color you get or what ever translation you desire it will serve you equally in seeking God’s face. In past reviews I’ve made known my personal thoughts on the Jerusalem cross depicted on the Schuyler Bibles as gaudy or being highly unnecessary as a chosen logo. Though my opinions merely look at the Jerusalem cross as a design element to the over arching look of Schuyler Bibles there is however more depth to its presence. Through my collaboration with Evangelical Bible someone there, in which I will not name, enlightened me to the various symbology of which the Jerusalem cross have one way or another fashioned itself in the psyche of believers throughout the many centuries.
For example, if you look at the Jerusalem cross the smaller corner crosses can signify the four evangelist, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John with Christ as the larger cross in the center. Or my personal favorite, Christianity (central cross) is dispersed and sown by missionaries to the four corners of the world represented by the smaller crosses. Ultimately the Jerusalem cross was chosen because of its unique design which like other crosses are central to the Christian faith.
The main thing I’d like to impart is buy a bible you know that will serve you throughout all your days. Look into whether it will spend more time in your hands or on the shelf. Know yourself first and be completely honest. Are you buying a premium Bible in the upper $100 range because you simply want pretty things? Are you looking beyond the leather, paper type, and status symbol that comes with the price point? These books aren’t cheap. Don’t go spending your savings on a nice high end Bible only for it to become a bookend. Having a Bible is a privilege in which most people who claim themselves to the faith easily take for granted. We ought to be very humbled to live in a nation that flow with abundance of bibles. For those who have not read, owned , or held an expensive bible like a Quentel or Canterbury then I suggest you read up on them. Let some time go by and revisit your thoughts. Do you really need a $200 bible? If the answer is yes then save your money wisely.

150-Year-Old Bell Retuned and Ready to Ring
Again at Irvington Presbyterian Church
Irvington, NY (December 18,
2007) -- Ten months after
Seaboard Weatherproofing &
Restoration carefully removed
the 1,200-lb. bell from its
tower at the Irvington
Presbyterian Church, the
church bell, having been
retuned at the Whitechapel
Bell Foundry in England, was
hoisted back into its rightful
place on December 12.
Our job is to tune the bell for
a specific sound, said Neil
Thomas, Bell Hanger with
London's Whitechapel
Foundry, who supervised the
tuning and worked hand-inhand
with Seaboard and the
renovation architect to reinstall
the bell. Now that it's
tuned the pitch will remain
consistent and will resonate
better so the bell can be heard
at a much greater distance. In
addition to the original bell,
which was first cast in 1875 by
Meneely & Kimberly in Troy,
NY, four new smaller bells
(fixed bells struck by hammers
and operated by a clock
mechanism) that were cast by
Whitechapel were also
installed. The British foundry,
one of only two bell foundries
in England, is renowned for
having cast the Liberty Bell
and London's Big Ben.
The Irvington Presbyterian Church is located at 25 North
Broadway in Irvington and
was constructed in 1869. It
was designed by James
Renwick, architect of the
Smithsonian Institution and St.
Patrick's Cathedral in New
York City.
The exceedingly tall tower
and its historic bell are
tangible reminders of the
influence and beauty the
church has in the community.
We're proud to be a part of the
town and this project, said
Walter Sedovic, architect of
the church renovation and
principal and CEO of Walter
Sedovic Architects in
Irvington, NY.
The recently retuned bell was
first installed less than a
decade after the church was
built. It has not peeled in the
tower since the late 1950s,
when electric carillon bells
were installed. When that
system failed in the mid-
1990s, all bell-driven hymns
from the church tower fell
silent.
After years of debate among
church leaders, the decision
was finally made to repair the
existing bell and add four new
ones. In February 2007, the
4.5-foot high, 3.5-foot wide,
bronze bell was finally
removed from the church's
seven-story bell tower. It
arrived in England in March
and returned by steamship in
July. It took five months before
all the elements were in place
for congregation members
and townspeople to hear
something no one in Irvington
has heard for half a century.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime
project, said Jay Fiebich,
General Manager of Seaboard
Weatherproofing &
Restoration. This bell has not
been heard from for nearly 50
years. We worked very closely with Whitechapel Foundry in
removing the bell and now
we're very excited that it's
back in place...working on a
piece of history that is this
substantial is very rewarding
to us.
With projects that include
Brooklyn's historic New
Utrecht Reformed Church, the
Eldridge Street Synagogue on
Manhattan's Lower East Side,
and the Lafayette Avenue
Presbyterian Church in
Brooklyn, Sedovic tapped
Seaboard for their vast
experience in exterior
restoration of landmark places
of worship.
Working with Seaboard is
fantastic, said Sedovic.
We've worked with them for
so many years on detailed,
historic engagements...and
that's where they excel —
putting all these fine parts and
pieces together on every
project we've done with them.
What's more, every job has
come out so well and so very
unique. They always exceed
expectations.

Long-underated cathedral finds its place in Gothic architectural history
The bells are ringing in Lausanne.
This beautiful city stands on the shores of Lake Leman in the French-speaking region of Vaud, close to Geneva.
150 metres above the lake stands a cathedral that dates back to the early Gothic period and was consecrated in 1275 AD by Pope Gregory X.
When construction started in 1175, the cathedral of Notre Dame de Lausanne (French for Our Lady of Lausanne) instantly became one of a kind.
Its primitive Burgundian Gothic design was similar only to churches in Paris, Picardy (France) and Canterbury in England.
After centuries of not being recognised, this building is now tipped as the most beautiful cathedral in all of Switzerland.
The entrance to the building is through the so-called 'Montfalcon portal' that takes its name from the last Catholic bishop the cathedral had before it was converted to Calvinism in 1536.
These sculptures represent the transition between the Late Gothic and Renaissance eras.
Like most Gothic churches, the cathedral has many gargoyles, carved stone grotesque figures that serve both to carry water from the roof and ward off evil spirits.
This impressive rose window dates back to the 13th century.
Its stained glass designs represent the medieval conception of the world or imago mundi with the four elements, four seasons of the year, twelve months and signs of the zodiac among many symbols.
After converting to Reformism, the interior of the cathedral lost many of its statues, altar paintings and ornaments, but nonetheless kept its elegance and austere beauty.
Despite the historical features of this cathedral, the jewel in the crown is only 10 years old.
This state-of-the-art organ constitutes a unique technological and musical achievement in itself.
It was built in America using Canadian, Italian and Swiss technology at a cost of six million Swiss francs ($6.38 million USD)
The case was designed by an Italian designer famous for his Bugatti, Alfa Romeo and Maserati car bodies and is intended to resemble an angel.
This musical marvel replaced a smaller one that was taken to a concert hall in Gandsk, Poland.
It has 6,737 pipes, ranging in size from a few centimetres to 32 feet (almost ten metres), five keyboards and a pedal board making it one of the largest in the world.
Besides the rose window, the stained glass work in the cathedral is relatively modern.
Half the works date back to the mid-19th century and the rest was installed in the 1920's and 30's.
Since 2003, the cathedral has played host to numerous music recitals with over twenty concerts every year by world-class musicians.
Since the creation of this instrument we have six around thousand people. Twenty-five recitals each year. Which constitutes Switzerland's most important organ concert season program, says Jean Christophe Geiser, head organist at the cathedral.
Nearly half a million people visit the cathedral every year making it one of the country's most visited monuments.
Veronica Nuesh and her husband are from Peru and find it amusing visiting a church that used to belong to one faith and then moved to another.
The cathedral dates back to 1275. Before the creation of the Helvetic Confederation. I've never seen before a church that used to be Catholic and was later dedicated to the Reformists. Never seen something like this before, says Nuesh.
Visitor Antoine Toublin thinks the cathedral is one of Switzerland's best kept secrets.
I see it incredible, the volume of the building. Cathedrals are always amazing buildings. And this is one is the most ancient in Switzerland. They conduct continuous restoration work. The pipe organ is impressive. I look forward to listen to it, says Toublin.
Another jewel of the cathedral is the so-called Painted Portal.

A BLOCK: In our top story, Tyler reports on the issue of sugar in cereal. Sugar has been linked to obesity and diabetes. The Environmental Working Group tested 84 cereals and found that three out of four of them failed the nutrition guidelines set by the federal government. The guidelines are voluntary but they ask that cereal not be more than 26 percent sugar by weight. However, some cereals were found to be more than 50-percent sugar. To figure out how much sugar is in a cereal, read the label. Ingredients are listed in the order of the amount they are used in the food. When looking at the ingredients keep in mind that sugar can have many names including: honey, high fructose corn syrup or molasses. If some form of sugar heads the ingredients list that cereal has more sugar than any other ingredient. CC: HEALTH
B Block: Emily?s report introduces us to Manhattan?s Morgan Library and Museum. The Morgans were famous bankers who were also passionate about books. As a part of an educational program, students get to come to the library and learn about manuscripts. Manuscripts are books of the medieval ages that were made by monks by hand. The pages of these manuscripts are often so brilliantly decorated they seem to give off light- that?s why they are called ?illuminated? manuscripts. Students learn how to make these manuscripts using real gold and other elements found in nature. For instance, the glue the monks used for the manuscripts was made from fish guts while the colors purple and red came from a bug from Mexico called a Coacheneal. The Morgan Library also houses the Guttenberg Bible which was the first book printed with ?moveable type? with the help of a machine. CC: HISTORY/ ARTS
C Block: Carina takes a look at a program called Operation Prom. Unfortunately, there are kids across the country that donapos;t go to prom simply because their family canapos;t afford it. Operation Prom is trying to help that. The organization receives donated dresses and then gives them to students, for free. There are dresses in every imaginable color, size and style, and are in great condition. In fact, one of the dresses donated to Operation Prom comes from Miss Westchester Teen. She donated the dress she wore for her beauty pageant. In order to qualify for a dress, students must prove that they need the financial assistance as well as be passing all of their classes. Operation Prom also has partnerships with some tuxedo companies to help give tuxedos to boys for their proms. CC: ARTS
D BLOCK: In this week?s ?Red Cross Tips? Emily talks to a Red Cross instructor about what to do if you experience a spider bite. If bitten, a person should wash the bite with soap and water and apply a cold compress. However, only certain spiders are really dangerous like the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse. If a person thinks that they may have been bitten by either spider they should seek help immediately. CC: HEALTH
In this week?s Look Back from season 1, Gianni takes us to a ballet class for boys! In many ways, boy?s ballet training can be compared to sports. Ballet can help with flexibility and coordination. These skills can be used on the football field and on the basketball court. While many may think that ballet is easier than sports, it requires a lot of energy and hard work. CC: HEALTH/ ARTS
E Block: In this segment sponsored by Orange County Auto Show, we take a look at some new cars. First is the Kia Optima hybrid which gets 40 miles to the gallon. We also look at the C-Max energy from Ford which is available as a plug in hybrid or a traditional hybrid. The new Honda Accord is outfitted with high tech features and all new features for 2013. We also get a look at the Dodge Dart which comes in 12 different colors and has 52 LED lights on the inside. Finally, the Chevy Spark is Chevrolet?s first mini car and comes with ten standard airbags. CC: TECHNOLOGY
Nicole takes us to Vienna. Vienna, the capital of Austria, is nicknamed the ?city of music.? In fact, when it comes to ringing in the New Year, Vienna does it with lots of music. The city celebrates with a festival called ?Silversterpfad? meaning ?The New Year?s Trail.? All over the city, people get to experience different kinds of music, including: African Rhythm, American Country Western, Rock and Roll and Opera. People also enjoy Vienna?s most famous dessert- the sacher torte, a delicious chocolate cake. As midnight approaches, Viennaapos;s giant amusement park takes center stage. When New Year?s arrives, Vienna?s skies fill with fireworks. CC: GEOGRAPHY

Craig Revel Horwood to direct Strictly Ballroom The Musical 2020/1 UK & Ireland Tour
Baz Luhrmann’s smash hit musical Strictly Ballroom is set to sweep audiences off their feet once more with the announcement of the new 2020/2021 tour, directed by dancer, choreographer and Britain’s favourite TV judge; the fab-u-lous Craig Revel Horwood. Foxtrotting around the UK and Ireland from September next year, the show is based on the award-winning, global film phenomenon, ‘Strictly Ballroom’ that inspired the world to dance.
Featuring a show-stopping book by Baz Luhrmann & Craig Pearce, and bringing together a sublime cast of over 20 world class performers, Strictly Ballroom brings to life iconic songs, including Love is in the Air, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps and Time After Time with dynamic and joyous verve. This tour will also feature some amazing new songs by internationally acclaimed artists including Sia, David Foster and Eddie Perfect. The show’s scintillating singing, dazzling dancing and eye-popping costumes will combine together to bring audiences a story of heart, comedy and drama, and promises to be an unforgettable night under the glitter ball.
Craig Revel Horwood said: I am absolutely delighted to be directing the 2020/21 UK tour of Strictly Ballroom The Musical - it’s going to be fab-u-lous! The theatre is where I come alive and it is there that I feel in my most creative element. Having directed the UK Arena Tour of Strictly Come Dancing for the past few years, I simply cannot wait to put my stamp on this iconic and much-loved musical. Expect some sexy moves, sizzling costumes and a simply sensational evening!
Strictly Ballroom The Musical tells the beguiling story of Scott Hastings, a talented, arrogant and rebellious young ballroom dancer. When Scott’s radical dance moves see him fall out of favour with the Australian Federation, he finds himself dancing with Fran, a beginner with no moves at all. Inspired by one another, this unlikely pair gather the courage to defy both convention and their families – and discover that, to be winners, the steps don’t need to be strictly ballroom…
This uplifting and courageous musical originated as a stage play that Baz Luhrmann devised with a group of classmates at Sydney’s National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1984. Eight years later he made his screen directorial debut with ‘Strictly Ballroom’, the first instalment in Luhrmann’s acclaimed Red Curtain Trilogy. The vibrant film enjoyed staggering success, winning three awards at the 1993 BAFTA awards and a 1994 Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture, going on to become one of the most successful Australian films of all time, earning more than $80 million at the box office. In April 2014 Strictly Ballroom The Musical had its world premiere at the Sydney Lyric Theatre.
Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom The Musical is a fabulous, feel-good evening full of sequins, singing and salsa. This unmissable kaleidoscope of glitz and glamour is a tonic for the soul and will send your heart soaring and toes tapping long after you leave the theatre!

This phenomenal song was first performed by the legendary Simon and Garfunkel. 'The Sound Of Silence' was later reborn when Disturbed released their own hard rock rendition. Through the guidance of Rick Benbow and Mike Wilbury at yoursoundtube.com Jadyn has developed her own interpretation of this iconic tune. Rick Benbow arranged the perfect instrumental accompaniment with Sina and Mike completing the drum and guitars. The combination of the elements gives this song the smooth tone of the original as well as the 'edge' of the version performed by Disturbed.
This song is included on the cover album YourSongBook. The album is currently available on iTunes and Spotify at the links below:

Time Team Digs: A History of Britain, Part 8 - The Norman Conquest
The most famous date in British history is 1066. But did everything change overnight from being English to being French? Tony looks at the many Time Team digs which help to answer that question, from the Norman Conquest to the Bubonic Plague. Of course they look at some castles, beginning with an intriguing site which is little more than a wooded mound (dig 62). In Bridgnorth (dig 72) the team investigate why the tower is leaning at an angle, and Phil Harding gets to fire a cannon. A local beauty spot in Warwickshire conceals a huge castle complex (dig 87). But they also look at sacred buildings - a particular speciality of Mick Aston. The pupils of Thetford Grammar want to know about a cathedral beneath their school (dig 33). Team member Jenni spends 24 hours as a nun at the site of an experimental unisex monastery (dig 80). Near Winchester they battle the elements to investigate a medieval leper hospital (dig 74). Osteoarchaeologist Margaret Cox describes the symptoms of leprosy using a real skull; and Victor Ambrus creates a clay model of an unfortunate victim. At Templecombe in Somerset they focus on the charismatic Knights Templar (dig 12). Tony is joined by Robert Liddiard of UEA.
