Kayak Fishing, Flagler Beach FL. Shark Galore
August 13th, 2016 Flagler Beach, FL
We went out from Flagler beach to try out the new reef they installed a mile to mile and a half out. They dropped 250 tons of precast concrete to form a 20ft by 80ft artificial reef. All I caught was sharks.
There were a few boats out at the spot but nothing seemed to be biting for them either. The water was really cold so I assume the fish we were targeting moved south for warmer waters.

Kayak Fishing Florida Flagler Inlet
When it comes to fishing in Florida, living in the dead center of the state has some drawbacks but it also has some benefits. On this day, The weather kicked up on the Gulf coast so kayak fishing was not in the cards. Fortunately, Don's father lives right on the Flager beach inter coastal over on the East coast. We've been wanting to try the kayak fishing over there for some time so today seemed like the opportunity we've been waiting for. We were not disappointed.
The fishing was good and the kayak scenery was better. Just the exploring was what many kayakers would call a great day on the water. Catching a few nice Redfish didn't do anything but make it a great fishing day as well.

Reef Shark in Flagler Beach on a Kayak and my daughter Riley aboard
Just a little video I did with the gopro of me and my 5 year old daughter in the kayak hooking onto a reef shark. Im gonna guess he was around 4ft or so. My daughter was a little taken back by him! What made it even crazier was I caught him on a #2 hook with a small shrimp for bait! After my daughters filming I think it's safe to say I need one those head mounts for the gopro!
