Warrnambool - Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village. Far more than expected. A real adventure into yesteryear. With plenty of attention to detail.
As Victoria's most active maritime museum, the village holds Australia's most significant shipwreck artefact collection.
Key features include the priceless Minton statue, the Loch Ard Peacock (Australia's most valuable shipwreck artefact), which was being transported in 1878 from England to Melbourne aboard the clipper the Loch Ard, bound for display at Melbourne's Great International Exhibition of 1880.
The ship ran into the cliffs at what is now known as Loch Ard Gorge, with the peacock being washed ashore two days after the wreck.
But the best part of the tour is the village.
It’s just an excellent place to spend a few hours wandering around.
The more you look, the more you see.

The historic maritime park of Flagstaff Hill is located along Victoria’s infamous ‘shipwreck coastline’. In order to enhance tourism, the attraction required a dramatic portrayal of the surrounding coastline and the treachery of the waters which have claimed more than 160 ships.
The solution provided by Laservision included the themed show titled ‘Shipwrecked’, a spectacular in its’ own right! The audience is taken on an outdoor journey through the maritime village to a purpose-designed theatre constructed by Laservision.
