Flinders Ranges - Part 1
Uncaged Expeditions goes to the spectacular Flinders Ranges. We set up base camp at Willow Springs and explored the beauty from there.
Unfortunately, the rain didn't stop until the day we were driving home. I really wanted to do the 4WD track SKYTREK, but it was closed due to the rain. Oh well, I guess that means we need to make another trip to the Flinders Ranges in the near future.
Blinman Pools Hike Flinders Ranges South Australia
G'Day Folks,
Today I walk along the Blinman Pools Track to the first pool.
A cold frosty start turns into a beautiful crisp winters day.
The walk takes 4 hours return including stops along the way.
Head home from 5 days in the Flinders and back to the smoke.

From Adelaide the Outback in. Australia
First you see some Christmasgreetings from Adelaide. Then we go to the Flinders Ranges and take there a walk in the Warren Gorge. At the Kanyaka Homestead we visit the ruins of the fist settler in the Outback. But offcourse the Aboriginals were very much earlier there and painted yachtdata in the caves of Yourambulla.
In Wilpena Pound we did the strong Mount Ohlssen-Bagge hike and had at the top a beautifull view over the Pound. Over the salt from Lake Eyre we saw fata morganas.
Hawker. SA -Township 1950s
Hawker.SA is situated in the Flinders Ranges in a rural and tourist region. In the 1950s the township was connected by gravel roads but now the main roads are bitumised.
YOUR4X4 Episode 145: Flinders Ranges - Parachilna to Arkaroola
Dusty rocky trails, barren landscapes, tales of hardship, destiny and luck and plenty of misfortune make up this episode as we trek from Parachilna towards Arkaroola via Nuccaleena Mine, Blinman and the Blinman Mine.
We see numerous ruins along the way, discover hidden tales of the Cornish miners who worked and died in this remote and inhospitable region and we finish our days travel at the oasis of Arkaroola, a resort nestled deep with the rocky ranges of the Flinders.

Blinman
The historic and picturesque Blinman, nestled in the central Flinders Ranges, is the highest town in South Australia. The town began with the discovery of copper in 1859 and commencement of mining in 1862. At its peak the population of Blinman was over 1500 . Today this peaceful settlement has a permanent population of just 22, plus residents of the surrounding pastoral properties. Despite its small size, Blinman services include a General Store, Post Office Agency and the North Blinman Hotel with accommodation and dining.
A bit of a mix of photographs and some old video pre HD days so apologies for the quality of those shots, but I did not want to leave them out so as to complete the story.
This is the third in my series of six videos taken during our long weekend visit to the Flinders National Park.
Enjoy and please feel free to leave a comment.
Best watched in 720p mode.
As always just having a bit of fun and sharing the sites of South Australia that we have visited.
Take care and stay safe.

Caroona Day 1 trailer.mov
Brief footage of our trip to Caroona Creek CP (South Australia). Couldn't get in the eastern entrance (park closed for goat culling), so had to double back and take a different (longer, more challenging) route (Mongolata Road) to our campsite. Lots of dry river bed crossings, and plenty of gates. Bone dry and they'd still had 12mm rain the night before!

Would you Rather Wilpena Pound Roadtrip 2014
Over the Labour Day long weekend, a few mates and I packed our bags and took off on a road trip to the Flinders Ranges. We camped at the Wilpena Pound resort camping grounds, over the course of the weekend we ate at the Prairie Hotel, Climbed St. Mary's Peak (the highest mountain in Wilpena), enjoyed each other's company and asked too many would you rather's. I put together a short video of our time there, enjoy! :)
