Recently, Malaysia was named the fifth-best retirement destination in the world.
That relates to the fact that Malaysia's affordability, its vibrant culture, its amazing food, and its openness to expats is a major reason why it is such a popular destination.
On top of all that, Malaysia is a convenient place to travel from, to explore other exotic countries throughout Southeast Asia.
It is actually stated that Malaysia is the fifth-best retirement destination in the world.
Many expats and retirees live in Malaysia for the lower cost of living.
Some of the reasons are that food prices are generally quite low, particularly if buying local products.
Foreign nationals wishing to retire in Malaysia can apply for a Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) visa.
It is one of the most enticing visa options you will find!
Where to Live?
While there are many interesting cities to consider for a place to live in Malaysia, several destinations have proven especially popular among expats.
Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and is a cosmopolitan gem in the heart of the country. Malacca is a 600-year-old city on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula, home to a variety of cultural and historical attractions.
It has undergone extensive development and has a burgeoning expat community.
George Town and its surroundings on Penang Island rank among the most popular expat destinations in the country.
This area delivers the experience of urban living with easy access to beautiful nature on the island and the peninsular mainland is linked by the 8.4-mile Penang Bridge.
You also have East Malaysia, which is also known as Malaysian Borneo.
The city of Kota Kinabalu welcomes adventurers and nature lovers to explore the nearby jungle and rainforests, wildlife, plant conservation areas and offshore island retreats.
Malaysia is also rated as one of the best cities in the world for students, based on the costs of living and the quality of education available.
Renting a Home In Malaysia.
It’s a well-known fact that most expat centres in Malaysia have plenty of luxury housing options in modern high-rise buildings with on-site services, with eating and entertainment options.
This kind of accommodation costs between $400 and $2,000 per month for two or three bedrooms. Prices in the centre of Kuala Lumpur are a bit higher.
A spacious condominium in a modern high-rise is an option worth considering if you plan to share housing expenses with a spouse or a friend.
However, there are plenty of other good options in most cities for single expats living alone.
According to data collected, a nice one-bedroom apartment in a neighbourhood outside Kuala Lumpur's central districts costs less than $300 per month on average.
Prices rise to almost $380 for similar accommodations in the city centre.
On Penang Island, a one-bedroom apartment in a desirable location near services, shopping, and entertainment is about $260 per month.
Prices fall below $190 per month for an equivalent apartment in an outlying neighbourhood.
In Malacca, a centrally located three-bedroom apartment averages only $260 per month.
In Kota Kinabalu, a one-bedroom apartment in the city centre is about $190 per month.
A three-bedroom apartment in an outlying neighbourhood goes for around $300.
Utilities are reasonably inexpensive in Malaysia.
Costs for electricity, water and garbage service average just over $50 in Malacca and Kota Kinabalu, around $32 on Penang Island and about $52 in Kuala Lumpur.
Unlimited broadband Internet service averages around $30 per month in most areas of the country.

Body Changes & New Apartment Tour In Malaysia⎮Travel Vlog
Hi beautiful friends! In today's vlog, I talk about a topic that I have been wanting to touch on for a while now, and decided it was time to share my thoughts on my recent body changes, in the hopes that it can empower you to love and accept your body at every stage, in every moment. You are worthy, you are innately beautiful and your body does not define your worth. For many years I let my sense of self worth come from the shape of my body which largely contributed to my eating disorder, but now as I am healing and recovering more I have come to let go of that fear and be more conscious of my thoughts and actions. It hasn't been easy, but coming to accept my body now is a huge personal milestone, and I also hope it can be an example that recovery is possible. Our bodies are constantly changing and it's a beautiful thing, and when you start treating yourself with respect, you teach others how to respect you as well. In this vlog, I also give you a tour of my new airbnb in Kuala Lumpur, and show you a day where things didn't quite go to 'my plan'...because God always has a greater one. Thank you for being here and take care friends, sending my love! xxx

5 Reasons why you should invest in heritage house in Georgetown Penang
Top Places To Visit In Pangkor Island, Malaysia
The name of the island comes from the Thai 'Pang Ko', which means Beautiful Island. It actually concerns a group of islands with Pangkor as its main island, and next to that a trio of smaller islands: Pangkor Laut, Pulau Mentagor en Pulau Giam.
Pangkor is a mountainous island; the highest point is at 1216 meters (Pangkor Hill). Since the main island consists of just mountains, the roads are lying in a circle around the island.
There is no real best time to visit Pangkor; as the island is pretty much shielded by Sumatra, weather is pretty much the same throughout the year (though it still is a tropical island).
Together with Langkawi and Penang this is the best choice if you want to visit a wonderful island on the western side of the peninsula. Approximately 30,000 people live on the island, most of them in Pangkor Town and the villages surrounding it. Fishery is (next to tourism) an important source of income for most of the islands' inhabitants. Pangkor Island lies within the state of Perak, about 85 kilometers from Ipoh (the 2nd biggest city of Malaysia), and about a 3-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur.
This is my personal picks of the top places to visit in Pangkor, in alphabetical order.
1. Dutch Fort
2. Fish netting at most of the top beaches.
3. The Floating Mosque
4. Fu Lin Kung Temple
5. Giam Island
6. Hai Seng Hin Fish Factory
7. Pak Su Sea Produce
8. Historical Rock or Sacred Rock
9. Hoo Huat Boat Builder
10. Hornbill feeding at Pasir Bogak
11. Jarak Island
12. Panoramic Gallery
13. Pasir Bogak Beach
14. Teluk Nipah Beach
15. Jungle Trekking at Tortoise Hill

???? Sarawak Regatta 2019 | Pre Competition | Kuching Waterfront | Darul Hana Bridge | Floating Mosque
Sarawak Regatta 2019
This year, there will be 14 categories of boat races involving 24 qualifying races and 12 finals. Sarawak Regatta is offering cash prizes of up to RM240,000 while the River King Trophy comes with a cash prize of RM10,000.
This annual event is the showcase of boat race with participation from various government agencies, private sectors and also participants from the neighbouring countries of Indonesia and Brunei. Teams from villages around Sarawak make it a grand affair and also a great occasion for families from outside Kuching to visit the city. The blue-ribbon event is the coveted ‘Raja Sungai’ (king of the river) title in the ‘bidar’ category. Each longboat carries thirty paddlers and this category is always a closely fought affair.
The significance of regattas in Sarawak dates back to 1872 during the James Brooke era. It started with the intention to stop racial wars among local tribes where headhunting was largely practiced. James Brooke then instructed all tribes to instead challenge each other by having boat races to prove their power and strength. The call to challenge each other through the boat race rather than headhunting was successful in bringing peace to the area.
James Brooke called all tribes to challenge each other not in violence, but instead in sportsmanship, by having boat races to prove their power, strength and speed; a call that has since continued to bring peaceful competitiveness between the tribes along the Rajang.
The villages throughout Sarawak will be sending their representatives to compete in the regatta for the coveted ‘Raja Sungai’ title, making a grand occasion of comradery, teamwork and healthy rivalry.
Each longboat carries thirty paddlers and this category is always a closely fought affair and a major crowd puller, while the programme also includes the “Brooke Swim”, Raft Tug-of-war, and duck catching as well as various exhibitions and markets along the waterfront selling cultural crafts, wares and food.
The Sarawak Regatta takes place along the Sarawak River. The 1.3 km Kuching Waterfront provides ample vantage points to watch the action on the water.
