Floating Dutchman - Amsterdam
Floating Dutchman is a unique, one-its-kind amphibious vehicle, which is designed to travel both on water and on land. The Floating Dutchman is ideal for those who have a stop-over at the Schiphol Airport for 4 hours or more. It offers such travellers a unique opportunity to explore the city in a short span of time, a sort of a crash course in the history and culture of Amsterdam. Visitors may directly hop on to one of these buses from the airport, as this venture is in collaboration with the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, take a tour of the city and return back to the airport for their scheduled connecting flight. This novel airport transit tour is the first of its kind in the entire world, especially in its amphibious form.

Busboat the Floating Dutchman, a new way to discover Amsterdam
According to the company, The Floating Dutchman:
The most splashing way to discover Amsterdam!
Whether you have a transfer at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol or want to start your holiday with a splash, the Floating Dutchman is the most spectacular way to experience Amsterdam. The bus leaves from the airport to the city. Once there, it will 'splash' into the canals and show you highlights of the city, before taking you back to the airport!
So far tests have proven the boat actually floats and drives. No word on the launch date.
Fokker 70 - The Flying Dutchman from Amsterdam to Munich in 4K
With all those Airbus and Boeings, and ever more Embraers we shall never forget that there is a country in Europe that actually was an aviation pioneer, from the early days up to jet travel. This once mighty company was Fokker from the Netherlands, known for their wonderful turboprops F27 and F50. But their flagships has always been the F.28, also known as the “Fellowship”, the rugged short haul twin jet airliner.
The successful “Fellowship” with it’s Rolls Royce Spey engines could not meet the standards needed during the 80s, so Fokker developed it’s mighty little airliner into a new generation F.28. The type was designated Fokker F.28-0100 or Fokker 28Mk0100. Eventually it was marketed as Fokker 100, to reflect the new automated modern avionics as well as it’s fuel efficient Rolls Royce Tay turbofans. The Fokker 100 was sold around the world and became a successful predecessor.
The Fokker F.28-0070 or just Fokker 70 became the last production model of the Dutch plane maker. After 47 finished frames Fokker went bankrupt, making the small jetliner a rare flying object. And since they don’t get newer, airlines begin phasing them out throughout Europe. The last ones flying are with Austrian Airlines and KLM Cityhopper. Austrian will end Fokker 70 and 100 ops in 2017, with KLM Cityhopper is to follow up until 2018.
So 2016/17 will be the last chance to catch a Fokker 70 in its natural environment, and while the ones of Austrian are nice, the classic blue and white of KLM fits this iconic aircraft the most. Maybe they will be flying on a bit longer in Australia, Asia and the Caribbean…
If one is a bit flexible, KLM offers great deals throughout Europe for way less than 200 EUR. And since Lufthansa and other big ones like British are the same as EasyJet or Ryanair, KLM (and Cityhopper) are a very welcome difference. With full service including spirits, KLM is one of the best airlines within the EU!
The flight from Amsterdam to Munich was no exception. The service was great and the crew very friendly, and the Fokker 70… well see for yourself!!!

KLM Boeing 747-400 PH-BFB Last Commercial Take Off From Amsterdam Schiphol
Today's morning was very grey and very cold, but I wanted a shot of PH-BFB before it's retirement. Here is KLM's City of Bangkok departing to Los Angeles as KL601 from the Polderbaan. It's the last commercial take off from Schiphol of this 29 year old beauty. As said the flight went to Los Angeles. PH-BFB will return at AMS on the morning of the 26th of november which will be its last commercial landing. After that this aircraft will stop flying for KLM. But it will not go to a desert or airfield to be dismanteled. No, this Queen of the Skies will stay in Holland and will be placed in the garden of the Corendon hotel situated at the north of Schiphol. Before that it will fly to Rome to get the Corendon livery applied. When it returns, placing it at the hotel will prove to be a spectacular sight! Stay tuned!
I am so happy I got this take off on tape! Note the yellow part on engine 2! This aircraft is the oldest flying 747-400 before it stops flying.
