Florence National Cemetery
Florence National Cemetery is the smaller of two such shrines in South Carolina; the other is at Beaufort. Located 1/4 mile north of the former site of the Florence Confederate Stockade, the cemetery was created when a plantation owner named James H. Jarrott allowed the dead to be buried in trenches on his property near the camp. The first burial took place on September 17, 1864, and the cemetery was established as a National Cemetery in 1865.

Haunted Prague : The Gothic graves of Olsany Cemetery
A site survey. Paranormal investigations in August 2016 drew me to Prague, Czech Republic - one of the most haunted cities in the world. Olsany Cemetery, located in the district of Zizkov, is Prague's largest municipal Cemetery. It is a very large site, first founded in 1680 as a Mass Plague Pit due to an epidemic of The Black Death which was destroying central Europe. Over 100,000 victims of Plague were buried here between 1680 - 1682.
Olsany Cemetery is haunted by the Ghosts of these Plague Dead. They have been seen many times before walking in a long Ghostly procession, many hundreds deep - all displaying the horrific pustules and weeping buboes associated with The Bubonic Plague or Black Death.
However there are no gravestones above ground which display this legacy. All of the current graves which exist are from Georgian/Victorian times. Olsany is blessed with many beautiful Victorian Mausoleums and Necro-Erotic statues and gravestones. To find these today you need to locate the western edge of Olsany (which is a very big site) to see these for yourselves. The eastern side of Olsany is given over to more recent burials. Olsany is a current burial site, but full public access is allowed. Like most examples of Gothic Victorian death art across all of Europe, these are in a sad state of decay and disrepair. Give it another 20 or 30 years and all these beautiful examples will probably have gone forever.
Note - The Plague Ghosts of Olsany are benign in nature and not malevolent.

Flatcar Rattlers - Which Side Are You On - Promises
The Flatcar Rattlers From Austin, Texas CD Release - Which Side Are You On
The Flatcar Rattlers are a raucous Bluegrass/Grime band with all the fixin's. They mix up rootsy backwoods Appalachia with fast punk rock to make up a distinct new-timey sound implanted with mountain songs and murder ballads. Austin360 described us as ...songster punk, uncorking a moonshine-laced attack that sounded as if it was conceived in a room somewhere in the North Carolina Appalachians, between a washtub bass and a stack of records by Hank William and the Clash.
With six members from six states, this bunch of ramblers eventually made camp in Austin, TX. While their day jobs range from making guitars to making airplanes, on stage the Flatcar Rattlers howl and fiddle to beat the devil as Doug Freeman of the Austin Chronicle stated. Their high octane live shows have created a nice buzz in a short time; ranking them in the top ten of Best New Bands and Best Bluegrass Bands according to The Austin Chronicles 2008-2009 Music Poll.
Michael Davis: The Main Theme of Union Bound (The Movie)
BUY THE BOOK/SEE THE MOVIE!!!! IN THEATERS APRIL 22, 2016!
Union Bound is the amazing true story of Joseph Hoover a Union Soldier who witnessed many incredible moments during the terrible carnage of the Civil War. Union Bound is a story of honor, integrity, love of country and the belief that all men are equal. Based on the actual diaries of Union soldier Joseph Hoover. This is the story of how Sergeant Hover came to join the Union army only to become captured during the Battle of the Wilderness and taken to the dreaded Andersonville prison in Georgia where he was held for four long months before being transferred to the Florence Stockade in South Carolina. Shortly after arriving to Florence, Joseph escaped and was helped by the very slaves they fought to free as they helped him travel the Underground Railroad back to his company in the north.
A companion book to the popular dramatic film by the same name, Union Bound delves into matters of integrity, honor, and redemption. In a time of racial division like the country hasn’t seen in sixty years and weak leaders who are willing to compromise the principles and values the nation was founded on in order to appease an enemy hell-bent on killing anyone who disagrees with them, Union Bound is a powerful story of one man who understood what slavery is all about and who risked everything to do the right thing, to save his country, to free slaves. It is a story of compassion, resolve, and unity against a common evil. It is a story of our past to encourage us to be resolute today.
After the war he went back to his farm in upstate New York and worked as a cabinet maker. He went on to live to be eighty-four years old.
