The Best Pick of the High Street? - Mary Queen of Shops
In season 2, Mary Portas turns around the fading fortunes of some of the UK's independent fashion stores.
Cardiff presents Mary with her most difficult challenge to date. Kelvin Evans, owner of a boutique and bar called Floyds, has very firm ideas about the retail business. Run by his partner Sharon Hunt, Floyds sells cheap end-of-line clothes and tacky accessories. The women of Cardiff are giving Floyds a wide berth, but Kelvin cannot understand why. Not one to mince her words, Mary lays it on the line and tempers flare.
Mary is convinced the shop should be targeting the fashion-conscious twentysomething crowd and asks Kelvin and Sharon to have a go at styling Miss Wales and her friends for a night out. But it is a disaster, and the young girls end up looking more streetwalk than catwalk. When events come to a head and Mary decides she can no longer work with Kelvin, Sharon has to step up. But does she have the confidence and ability to turn Floyds around?

Laver Bread - bara lawr
Excerpt from Edwardian Farm. Ruth Goodman makes laver bread -- a seaweed spread.
Seaweed foraging playlist:
Laver is an edible, littoral alga (seaweed). In Wales, laver is used for making laverbread, a traditional Welsh dish. Laver as food is also commonly found around the west coast of Britain and east coast of Ireland along the Irish Sea, where it is known as slake.
It is smooth in texture and forms delicate, sheetlike thalli, often clinging to rocks. The principal variety is purple laver (Porphyra umbilicalis). Purple laver is classified as a red alga, tends to be a brownish colour, but boils down to a dark green pulp when prepared. It is unusual amongst seaweeds because the fronds are only one cell thick. Laver has a high content of dietary minerals, particularly iodine and iron. The high iodine content gives the seaweed a distinctive flavour in common with olives and oysters.
Laverbread (Welsh: bara lafwr or bara lawr) is a traditional Welsh delicacy made from laver. To make laverbread, the seaweed is boiled for several hours, then minced or pureed. The gelatinous paste that results can then be sold as it is, or rolled in oatmeal; it is generally coated with oatmeal prior to frying.
Laverbread is traditionally eaten fried with bacon and cockles as part of a Welsh breakfast. It can also be used to make a sauce to accompany lamb, crab, monkfish, etc., and to make laver soup (Welsh: cawl lafwr). Richard Burton has been quoted as describing laverbread as Welshman's caviar.
Laver is highly nutritious because of its high proportions of protein, iron, and especially iodine. It also contains high levels of vitamins B2, A, D and C. Dried purple laver contains high amounts of Vitamin B12.

CARDIFF: AIR B'N'FEAST EP.5 - cooking seaweed in wales!
I headed out to my old haunt - CARDIFF , WALES The wild west of the UK, and rightly so. An eclectic cuisine of availability! I cook some delicious Welsh Lamb and dabble in LAVERBREAD - a welsh delicacy worth writing home about.
I explore the taff trail and am reunited with an old friend.
Sometimes travel isn't about new. Its about old. It's about nostalgia and lost familiarity. Through the kind people and interesting ingredients, its a place I'd definitely recommend!

BEST WAY Overcoming FEAR Getting HIT in Street Fights
How to Take a Punch & Overcome Fear in a Fight. The fear of taking a punch cripples even the best of us. It’s ESPECIALLY a common problem among beginners learning how to fight and defend themselves. I mean… how do you expect someone to fight well if he’s afraid of getting hit? It’s near impossible right? Fortunately, there IS a solution and ANYBODY can overcome this fear.
Before we start you have to understand the possible causes of the fear of taking a punch in a fight.
There are 3 simple factors. The first is being hit actually hurts (it’s a pain response), the second is you can’t see the punches (it’s the fear of the unknown), third, you’re not mental prepared for being punched (this is the emotional response).
In short, the expectation of pain combined with the fear of the unknown and lack of will lead to an increased fear of getting punched in a fight.
