NYC Street Artist TMNK aka NOBODY decides NOT to take advantage of social medicine in Norway. Instead he opted for treating the fluid on his elbow himself. After watching a couple of videos, TMNK wen to the local pharmacy and purchased a syringe, needle, and some antispetic wipes and performed the procedure himself.
Proof positive that NOBODY CARES... ;-)

Ryan Trecartin Interview: Gender is Fluid
The cutting-edge American artist Ryan Trecartin is considered one of the leading voices in avant-garde film. In this short video, he argues that gender is a fluid construct where you don’t need to be consistent and that his characters are indifferent to it: “They might be subscribing to an idea of masculinity or femininity, but it’s a subscription that they can cancel.”
Trecartin’s approach to gender reflects his position on language, both being magical inventions “that then creates reality and agreements.” He describes his movies as adjacent sci-fi: “The future and the past are both exploratory inventive spaces where there is no grand narrative, and there is no ‘other’.”
Ryan Trecartin (b. 1981) is an American Texas-born artist. Trecartin has had solo shows at several institutions, including Hammer Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna, The Power Plant in Toronto, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in Paris, MoMA PS1 in New York and Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo. He has also participated in prestigious exhibitions such as the Berlin Biennale 2016, the Venice Biennale 2013 and the Whitney Biennial 2005 where he was the youngest artist to be included at the age of 25. Among several prizes, he is the recipient of the Jack Wolgin International Competition in the Fine Arts, the world’s largest juried individual fine art prize and a Heritage Pew Fellowship in the Arts. His creative partner and long-term collaborator is artist Lizzie Fitch, whom he has been working with since 2001. Trecartin currently lives and works in Ohio.

Innovation Spotlight: Safewing™ -- for a safe take-off in ice and snow
For safety reasons aircraft wings have to be free of ice and snow.
Worldwide, more than 41 million airplanes with over 4 billion passengers take off in the course of a year. During the winter months, ice and snow on the wings can interfere with lift, which can lead to crashes. To prevent that, special fluids are used to deice planes and protect them from reicing before take-off. They are colored differently to facilitate telling them apart and see whether they have been spread evenly.
Clariant is one of the largest manufacturers of deicing and anti-icing fluids in the world. With the Safewing™ portfolio Clariant offers different kinds of deicing fluids (Type I) and anti-icing fluids (Type II and IV). The deicing fluids are used to remove ice and snow from planes by spraying the heated fluid with high pressure onto the surfaces. Type II and type IV anti-icing fluids are used to coat aircraft parts with a viscous layer that protects against the new formation of ice, greatly extending the time window for the take-off of the aircraft. Before the aircraft leaves the ground, their viscosity drops significantly due to various mechanical forces, thus flowing off.

Dr. Roxana Carare discusses results from her lab's investigation of cellular pathways in the glymphatic system. Very little is currently understood about the glymphatic system, but one current hypothesis is that solutes and interstitial fluid leave the brain through intramural peri-arterial drainage (IPAD) pathways.
The study Dr. Carare describes provides evidence for this theory and even a potential explanation and process for the build up of amyloid beta in Alzheimer's disease. The results suggest that therapies that involve transferring medicine via cerebrospinal fluid may be a suitable option in treating some neurological disorders.
This presentation was made possible thanks to a generous grant from The Monkton Institute and was presented at the 2019 CSF Hydrodynamics Symposium held in Oslo, Norway. (2019)
