Fly fishing iceland, Reykjavik Outventure
Welcome to Iceland Full Film
After a lot of thinking, we decided to release the full Welcome to Iceland Film for totally free, despite having invested a lot of money and time in the project.
All we ask is that you tell us what you think in the comments and if you liked it, Share and follow us on facebook etc.!!!
Coming from a country where Catch and Release is still officially prohibited, two brothers went to Iceland to find out about the state of conservation in a country where fish and free flowing rivers are still abundant, and they came across interesting people along the way.
A shorter version was featured on the RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival 2016!

Salmon and lake fishing in Iceland with Rodtrip (Iceland part 1 - Between lakes and rivers)
Red hot sun. Summer is really making it’s name as we leave Dusseldorf airport for a 3 and a half hour flight - final destination: Reykjavik. Though you know it will be a hel of a lot colder there, it’s always a gas to pack and roll from warm to cold climate for fly fishermen like us...
The story continue on Rodtrip :

Dodding Iceland (Fly fishing Iceland)
A couple of years ago me and my father made a trip to Iceland. Lots of fishing for trout and char in lakes and rivers such as the Laxa and Varmà. Bad weather and though fishing conditions gave us a really hard time camping and fishing, but whenever the wind stopped and the sun showed the flies started to hatch and the big icelandic trout rose to the surface. Let me know how you like it!

Exploring Reykjavik, Iceland!
Our trip to Reykjavik in April 2016. Our favorite restaurants were Cafe Loki (tried the local meat soup, dried fish, and fermented shark), and Glo (gluten free and dairy free friendly). Saw the Hallgrímskirkja church, stray cats and lots of cool graffiti. The white house is apparently where Ronald Reagan and Gorbachev signed the treaty to end the Cold War. The guy in our selfie at Glo restaurant is a professor of Elves and head of the UFO club and came to speak to us at our table for a couple of hours. The protests were related to the Panama Papers and the resignation of the Prime Minister while we were there. And last but not least we saw the Northern Lights. Much easier to see outside of the city but they were so bright you could see them over Reykjavik!

Elliðaár The Valley of Elliðaár Rivers Reykjavík, Iceland Picnic Ground
Ellidaar (Elliðaár or Ellida river) is sometimes called the Pearl of Reykjavik, one of the world's cleanest salmon river flowing through a capital city. Each year the salmon season opens with the Mayor of Reykjavik catching the first salmon in Ellidaar, which has proven itself a fine salmon river, rarely yielding fewer than 1100 fish on 4 to 6 rods per day per 90-day season.Ellidaar Power Plant on the outskirts of the city was harnessed to provide electricity for Reykjavik in 1921. The distribution system was enlarged to keep pace with the rapid increase in the population of the capital during the 1920's and soon the Ellida station couldn't cope with the demand. In 1933 the municipality acquired exclusive rights to harness River Sog, but during the construction of the Ljosafoss power station, the capital expanded constantly and the electric consumption rose steadily. A reserve steam power station, powered with coal and oil, was built on the Ellida river (Ellidavatn) in 1948.In 1990 Reykjavík Energy opened the Municipal Energy Museum on Rafstodvarvegur (Power Station Road) in the Ellidaar Valley opposite to the Ellidaar Power Station, dating from 1921. The museum's main goal is to depict the history of the electrification of the capital, folk history and technical development in Iceland. As a nature preservation area, Ellidaar valley is a popular recreational area for hiking, horseback riding and other activities with its prolific wild life and vegetation. Nearby is the open air museum Arbaejarsafn, Reykjavik Museum, with its old farmhouses and other buildings from the city center. (Source: Reykjavik Energy).

We Tried Icelandic Foods | How Expensive is Reykjavík?
We are on the hunt to find delicious and traditional Icelandic foods right here in Reykjavik, whilst also giving you an idea on the costs of food and groceries here in Iceland.
First stop we headed to Kaffibrennslan to try or favourite thing ever...coffee of course before heading out to Vagninn on the water to try some street food fish and chips with remoulade pickled mayonnaise sauce.
Next up and the dish we were most excited to try was Lobstersoup from Seabaron as well as their Haddock fish kebab before heading off to the 10-11 grocery store to show you the cost of eggs, milk and bread and whilst we were there we had to try Skyr yoghurt and appelsin soda.
To end our food tour in Reykjavik we made our way to Cafe Loki to try Rye bread icecream and mashed fish on rye bread as well as herron with eggs.
Yes we realise there are a lot of strange Iceland food out there like fermented shark and horse head, in this video we just wanted to show you some delicious foods rather than the weird ones :)
Where we ate:
Coffee Spot: Kaffibrennslan
Fish & Chips: Vagninn
Lobstersoup & Haddock Fish Kebab: Seabaron
Grocery Store: 10-11 Grocery
Rye Bread Icecream: Cafe Loki

Urban Trout Fishing in Iceland!
This episode may not contain many fish, but what it lacks in piscatorial action, it more than makes up for with love, weather, and of course food.
Stay tuned for more episodes coming soon!
I'm thinking this will be twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, to capture the fishing over the weekend, and then during the week! Let me know what you think in the comments below!
