The Netherlands: Beyond Amsterdam
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | By train, bike, and boat, we visit the top Dutch sights outside of Amsterdam: from Haarlem to Rotterdam, and from Delft to the Zuiderzee. Along the way, we enjoy charming towns with fragrant cheese markets, soggy polderland, mighty dikes, and windmills both new and old. Rolling through the Netherlands and connecting with its people, you can’t help but think, “Everything’s so...Dutch!”

FAQ's:
Q Where are you from?
A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. Have been living in Amsterdam for over 5 years.
Q How can you afford to travel so much?
A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. You can watch this video: and this one: to learn more about my story.
Q What camera do you film with and what editing software do you use?
A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X
Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)
Q Why do you usually travel alone?
A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own.
Q Why do you love India so much?
A Watch this video: and this one:

Visit The Netherlands - What to Know Before You Visit The Netherlands
Read the Blog for More Information on The Netherlands:
Heading to The Netherlands & Not Sure What to Expect? Well here we go through the top things that tourists should know when they visit The Netherlands.
1. It is The Netherlands, Not Holland. Holland is the name of two counties in The Netherlands.
2. The language of The Netherlands is Dutch, but as a tourist you really do not need to know any Dutch as the Dutch speak English extremely well throughout the country.
3. The Euro is the currency in The Netherlands and you can find ATMs all over the country. Credit cards are widely accepted as well.
4. The Netherlands is a small country with a very well developed transportation network. Therefore you can easily take trains all over the country in a fast and efficient way. Make sure you tap in and out with your tickets as you enter your platforms.
5. Biking is a very popular pastime and way to get around Dutch cities. There are a number of bike rental agencies throughout The Netherlands. Look for one near a train station and rent a bike for the day to explore, or sign up for one of the numerous bike tours around the country.
6. The Netherlands is rather safe for tourists. Do take care with pickpockets and extremely aggressive beggars in Amsterdam's more popular areas. The bike line is for bikes only so watch out unless you want to get hit by a bike and yelled at by a local.
7. Drugs bring a lot of tourists to Amsterdam and the Dutch/German border. If you are going to The Netherlands to experiment with soft drugs make sure you go to a Coffee House they have menus and trained personnel that can help travelers. We do not recommend you do drugs and highly discourage travelers from doing this. However, we do know a number of tourists do go there for that. So please be safe, and speak with the coffee shop attendant about your previous experiences so they can help you.
9. The best things about the Netherlands are the quaint cities and towns like Haarlem, Leiden, Groningen, as well as the larger cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The architecture and museums throughout the country really are outstanding. And yes you will see quite a few windmills as you explore The Netherlands.
10. The food is hearty in The Netherlands, make sure you try a bitter ballen or a traditional pancake or herring from one of the stalls. The market and food halls have tons of great treats for travelers. There are numerous international restaurants all over The Netherlands as well.
11. The Netherlands is not a cheap place to visit, however the prices are on par with the US & other major European destinations. Amsterdam accomodation will be your biggest expense. Therefore you may want to stay outside of Amsterdam to have a cheaper and more Dutch experience.

ULTIMATE AMSTERDAM TRIP | WELCOME TO HOLLAND | NETHERLANDS
Explore this AMAZING city with me!
ABOUT MY TRIP:
NOTE: All of these prices are on the spot prices. If you buy them online, or at the tour and ticket locations, you can save up to €10 in each thing!
Hotel De L’Europe - Pricey, but worth it. It is located right on the center! With walking distance to EVERYTHING! We didn’t need a taxi or Uber other then to and from the Airport.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! - I enjoyed it. If you have done this else where, maybe skip out on this one. However, if you’ve never done it… It’s worth it. €21 for Adult
Lover’s Amsterdam Pizza Cruise - €42.50 Would not recommend.
UNLESS you try something else, like the regular Lovers: Amsterdam Canal Cruise (No food) for only €18 each.
Amsterdam Ice Bar - €23.95 each. I would not go back. The jackets they lend are all destroyed, mittens are all used, wet, and torn. If you’re thinking.. well I had fun in the Vegas one, maybe this one is cool to… No. Not even half as cold as others
Heineken Experience - €21 each and 100% recommend. I would go back just for the EXPERIENCE. I enjoyed every minute in there. You definitely get your moneys worth.
Amsterdam Dungeon -€24 for Adult.
I loved it!! It’s really hard to film in there because of how dark it is.. plus they don’t let you. They entire thing is entertaining. They put on a GREAT show!
Unfortunately we wished we had more time! There is soooo much to do, and here’s a few things I recommend for you to do!
-Anne Frank House tour!!!
(Make sure to get your tickets 2 months in advanced)
-Van Gogh Museum
-NEMO Science Museum
-A'DAM Lookout - 360º Amsterdam & Sensational Swing

View from Above- Netherlands
Welcome to the View from Above! A series where we take you on a Journey to some of the most beautiful places on earth!
Netherlands can be called the heart of Northern Europe. Flanked by Germany and Belgium, and sharing maritime borders with England, this small state is truly in the middle of European affairs. But, instead of conforming, Netherlands stands out and surprises all visitors with its unique traditions and customs. Its beautiful landscapes and architecture are adequately represented by an equally beautiful people. Transport yourself to the unique confines of Amsterdam, then to the dams and levees of Zeeland, before zooming above the blaze of colourful flowers in the Dutch countryside. View From Above captures Netherlands and its people by using cutting-edge DJI unmanned recreational drones, taking shots of the charming country in ways that have never been seen before.
Netherlands, literally meaning “Lower Lands” in reference to the country’s height in relation to sea-level, has been home to a number of cultures and traditions. Ancient Germanic and Roman influence made way for Norman expansion. Norman rule was overthrown by the expanding Holy Roman Empire commandeered by Frankish princes, and the Franks made way for the Burgundian and Hapsburg kings who later became the dukes of Dutch estates. These dukes and princes later formed a union of sorts that was coordinated in The Hague, and thus began the golden age for the Dutch, who controlled a vast sum of wealth thanks to their great banking and trading empires.
Netherlands, sometimes known by its historic name ‘Holland’, has its history of wealth and trade invested in its capital of Amsterdam. Amsterdam is a web of canals and little streets of which a multitude of different people call home. The city is a treasure trove of hidden jewels but the travelling enthusiast should definitely tick the more well known attractions like Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum and the Red Light District off their list. If visitors are looking for a more modern Dutch city, then a visit to Rotterdam is recommended, but it’s in The Hague and Utrecht where visitors can be treated to more classical Dutch architecture and lifestyle.
The Netherlands has always been known to be vertically challenged. The country does not rise much unless you travel to the far south and west, and for this reason they suffer from frequent flooding. With rising sea levels, Netherlands has needed to implement mechanisms that prevent the seas from completely submerging low lying farmlands and towns. A trip to the world renown Delta Works around Zeeland region will have every visitor marvelling at Netherland’s technical and mechanical expertise. A vast system of levees, locks, sluices, dams and tide-activated barriers stop the oceans slow advance.
Netherland’s lowlands are dotted with little towns and villages making their livelihoods in and amongst the damp waterways and canals. A trip to Engewormer, the marshy area north of Amsterdam, is a favourite walking and cycling destination where visitors can experience the birdlife and appealing Netherlands countryside. These kind of areas are home to Netherlands’ iconic windmills which have been pumping water off the scarce dry fields for generations. Towns closer to the coast, like that of Hellevoetsluis, have their beginnings entrenched in their watery surroundings. These cities in the mouths of canals are popular destinations for sailing and other water-sports.
Netherlands is known to be a great exporter of flowers, and the gem of their flower trade is the Keukenhof gardens where flower producers have been allowed to pageant their tulip and bulb blooms for decades.
Netherlands is a beauty that is a must-visit for anyone travelling to Europe.
View from Above could not have made these astonishing videos without the help of the DJI unmanned recreational drones. Witness these marvellous feats of modern technology on the website:

Day Trip To Giethoorn, Netherlands - The Village Without Roads | Travel Vlog | World Culture Network
Next, on #TheDayTripShow, we took a day trip from to Giethoorn from Amsterdam. We were pretty excited to know that Giethoorn, Netherlands - the village without roads.
After we Giethoorn village, we rented a private boat and started boating around the canals. Giethoorn, also known as the Venice of the North is the water village of Holland and has more canals than roads.
The best part of our trip was that to explore Giethoorn in winters was not very usual, as a result, we were the only tourists there and had all the space to enjoy without the crowds.
After boating, we walked around Giethoorn, Netherlands. After some delicious pizza, it was time to return from Giethoorn to Amsterdam. But what a fun, serene and memorable day it had been! Had to share it with all of you in this episode of the show.
#TuneInToWCN to watch The Day Trip Show, a show in which we take day trips from popular cities to smaller towns, cities, and countries and explore them within the day!
